Below is a recap. Rock talked about the Scorpion King and said he got paid 5 1/2 million dollars to do it. Howard said that was a ton of cash and asked him if he thought the success of The Mummy Returns had anything to do with it. Rock said it was that and the fact that he had a great agent. He said that acting is something he always wanted to try. Stern asked him if he would leave the WWF if his movie career took off and he said no. He likes being in the position he's in and will wrestle for many years to come. He spoke of some trouble he had in the past mentioning about choking out some woman and that he was a kind of a loose cannon as a teen. Howard asked him how he got started in the business. He said that he played football at Miami. Howard asked him why the didn't stick with it. He said that he was good, but not great and that Warren Sapp actually beat him out at his position. He mentioned that he came from a wrestling family and mentioned his grandfather Peter Maivia and his dad Rocky Johnson. Stern asked if his family pushed him into the business and he said that his dad was actually dead set against him wrestling. He said that Vince owns the rights to the name "The Rock" and that he would have to have his name legally changed to that if he wanted to use it. Stern asked what name would be used in the movie for the credits and he said The Rock. He said in the future, he might use the name Dwayne "Rock" Johnson or some other hybrid. Stern asked if there is jealousy amongst the other wrestlers over his success. He said there is always some element of professional jealousy in any line of work but that the guys in the WWF are cool. Stern also asked about whether he talks to other guys about how much he makes and used Stone Cold as an example. Rock said they don't discuss it and put over Austin as a nice guy. That's the crux of it. Stupid knicknames/ antics (alla Vile from yesterday) like the Red Rooster, Bushwackers, and Bolshevics 9. Whenever a heel gets de-throned from a championship due to another man's interference, he never asks for a re-match to win his belt back, he just wants to fued with the guy who caused him to lose the belt. Remember Hacksaw and Andre's feud which sprang from WM4? 8. A face will ONLY go for his finishing move to another bonified superstar heel when the referee is knocked out. eg. Texas Tornado goes for the claw on Curt Hennig after the ref is knocked out) 7. Never ending strings of matches between the same two guys (How many times can we take Rock vs. Stonecold) 6. In the 80's...never ending strings of scrub matches on Saturday and Sunday Mornings (In two weeks.....yes, that's right, a match of main event calipur..its the Bulldogs versus the Moondogs. Or, they make someone like Magnificent Muraco tag with Iron Mike Sharpe aaaaaaarghhhhh! and face the U.S.Express) 5. How about this line...? "Widow-maker? Who's that? I've never seen HIM! (Meanwhile its obviously Barry Windham) 4. Bad chair shots. (Adrian Adonis was ACTUALLY aiming for Piper's leg on that infamous Piper's Pit, if you can believe it) 3. Quick heels for fake injuries (Piper got his arm broke by Adonis on piper's Pit, and was back in TWO weeks) 2. Bad house shows (Piper wrestled Hillbilly Jim in '85 at Joe Louis, and after about twenty seconds, Piper walked out of the ring.) 1. "its Ghetto Blaster Time" That's right, I hate wrestlers who announce their moves, like when Bad News told the world (and Hogan) that he was going for his finishing move. Nice one, Bad News. I think there's an opening on Good Times 2001 on broadway, now playing in Harlem, South Central L.A., and Compton) Till next time drones, see ya in the Big House Uncle Leno ====================================================================== Comment//============================================================= Rounding the Squared Circle - by Sam Jerry "ADVANCED DUDLEYNOMICS 201" OR "OFTEN IMITATED, NEVER DUPLICATED" VISIT MY HOME PAGE: http://www.members.aol.com/SamJerry Now that I have covered a bit of the current Dudley Family Tree, the next thing to look at in the long and storied history of one of America's foremost families is the family business. To do that requires an understanding of the early Dudley's. The earliest records of The Dudley family shows that Beelzebub Dudley lived at Plymouth Rock. He therefore must have came over on Mayflower. Since he wasn't listed among its passengers or crew, it is possible he was a stowaway. He didn't fit in with the others and was eventually evicted from the colony. He preferred fun to piety, as many a young lass there has proof of. He left with his wife, a young Native American maiden named Twin Peaks, and their five children: Able, Cain, Methuselah, Ebeneezer, and Dudleyetta. After wandering in the wilderness for over two years, they finally settled in what is now Beautiful Downtown Dudleyville. In his wake he left many a broken heart, along with many a swollen belly. We have come to know George Washington as "The Father Of The Country," however, Beelzebub can lay claim to the Title. Being on his own in a strange place, Beelzebub found it necessary to work in order to feed his family. It was then that he founded The Acme Corporation, naming it after his first four children. The first things they produced were Bows, Arrows and Wooden Furniture. They sold these to the local Native Americans and other settlers as they arrived. As the population grew, business increased, and The Acme Corporation branched out into other areas. In fact, although he never got credit for it, Beelzebub Dudley invented the production line. He had Able chopping wood, passing it to Cain who whittled it into shape, then on to Methuselah who polished and finished it, and finally to Ebeneezer who boxed and shipped it. Dudleyetta, the smartest of The Dudley children, kept the books. She also founded and ran The Acme Home For Wayward Maidens and Seamen's Hotel. Keeping with her half-Native American heritage, and she married Dances With Hos. They named their firstborn Dances With Dudley, a name that has been bestowed on the first born of every generation after them. The current Dances With Dudley has been spotted on the Indy circuit, thanks to one of my faithful readers. That makes three that I know of. As the years passed, the Dudley's branched out into many diverse fields. Business was so good that they eventually began granting franchises, however, every new company operated as a Division of The Acme Corporation. This structure has worked so well, that it has stood the test of time and remains in place today. As an aside, when wood was replaced by metal to build things, the Flagship Company was renamed The Acme Table and Steel Chair Company, Division of The Acme Corporation. As you know, it is still in business today. After turning the business over to his children, Beelzebub went into politics. He was elected the first Mayor of Dudleyville, and looked to have a bright future ahead of him. It was never proven, but the assertions that he was overly friendly with several young females ended his aspirations. As you can see, The Dudley's are a prototype American family. Every Dudley, and many others, can trace their roots back to Beelzebub. There you have it. The origins of The Dudley's in America and how The Acme Corporation came to be. I hope you took copious notes; there may be a test next week. As relates to wresting, I hope you all took note of Dr. What jobbing to Mr. Everything, RVD. Can you picture someone joining the Old WCW and within weeks, seeing Big Lazy, $oldberg, or any of their other over paid heroes doing that? Say what you want about Dr. What and how lame he looks playing a pussy (and IMHO he sure does), but give him the props he deserves for putting over one of the young talents. He sold the Van Daminator all the way to the locker room. It has to be gratifying to everyone who came from WCW and ECW to know that one of the biggest names in the business is willing to do what's right for the business. See that The Rock has done it; HHH has done it; and Dr. What has done it, how can anyone refuse to do a job when asked? The rumors of The Brian Twins, Adams and Clark, BKA Kronik, coming to the WWF proved true. Then again anyone knowing anything at all about Emperor McMahon knew it was bound to happen. He has always wet his Fruit of the Looms over big men. When Kane returns from his infected arm, I smell a match for one of the Tag Team Titles. If Kane returns in the next week or so, it could very well be added to Unforgiven. The Undertaker actually sold the a*s kicking he took from Brothers Brian, as directed by Dumba*s Stevie Richards. Dumba*s blamed The Taker for the demise of The Right To Censor. He should be thanking the writers for burying it alongside The Red Rooster. Ditto a match between Edge and Christian for the Intercontinental Title, now that Christian has finally come out from brother Edge's shadow. Praising his move from Canada to beautiful, sunny Florida (and who can blame him for coming to the Sunshine State)? he burned his bridges with Canada. The word I hear is that Royal Canadian Mounted Police have put him on their Eight Most Wanted List. If he ever steps foot in Canada, he could be shot on sight. I also hear that if he applies for a position in The Alliance, Paul E. will insist he change his name to something a bit less .... Christian. Paul will be pushing for Moses. It looks like The Rock has really gotten back into the game. He sliced and diced Lillian Garcia (OK, so she's not the brightest bulb in the pack), getting her to admit she gets wet thinking about him, and asking if she wanted a piece of The Peoples Strudel. Lillian will need professional help after her interview. It was vintage Rock. That ends this installment of The Dudleys and other useless tidbits. I know how broke up you are over it. ====================================================================== Remember...=========================================================== -Remember that if you've missed any TV Shows, PPV's or more?
