According to a DirecTV spokesperson, the company is going to pursue litigation with the WWF seeking money already paid to the Stamford- based promotion. Apparently the WWF is asking DirecTV to drop their financial claims so they can begin serious negotiations for a new contract. According to an industry source, DirecTV was looking to up its stake in the WWF's PPV revenue, which is believed to be why negotiations stalled in the first place, and now since the WWF is the leader in the PPV industry, the WWF believed that it was time to start negotiating under their terms as they now have the leverage to do so. According to a Broadcasting and Cable spokesperson, 15% of the WWF's PPV revenue comes from viewers who are with DirecTV. More updates will follow. ====================================================================== News from the WWF//=================================================== -1Wrestling.com reports that the first ever live SmackDown! got a final rating of 4.3 (7 share), which is up from last week's 4.2. -Kurt Angle's book "It's True! Just a few nonsensical thoughts as we approach Summerslam...... Poor Greg. My projected winner of Tough Enough is gone, thanks to a bad break. Godspeed to you Greg, and hopefully you'll get another shot down the line. So Test is now a member of the Alliance. My God, we had no idea!!! Is it just me, or was that the worst kept secret since Clinton was getting hummers from a heifer? I have to admit: I've been inspired by Loser 3:16's emotional speeches to the troops. I feel like Flounder after Bluto Blutarski addressed the Delta House. When did it become legal to slug referees during resulation matches with no consequence? Gee, I guess that kind of fell by the wayside with the count-out, eh? Let's see if I have this right. Apparantly, Steph has some kind of self-image problem, so she patronizes the Brisco Brothers' Body Shop for some hood work. I really don't understand why; I mean I thought she was a hottie, even without the chest job. But now, she is so confident that she lets Jericho make fun of her on Raw? What an interesting dichotomy. After seeing his "performance" on Smackdown, I can sincerely say that I hope someone takes some duct tape, and puts it over Booker Q's mouth. You want to perform a parody of The Rock, fine. But let me give you a clue: parodies are supposed to be funny and entertaining. You are neither. When Triple H did "The Crock", it was hilarious. When you did "The Book", it was putrid. Face it, in a war of words with The Rock, you are an unarmed man. How arcane is it that Kurt Angle is making superhero references because of Helms' Green Lantern tattoo? I mean, I guess it's okay to make fun of it, seeing as the real GL is dead, and they replaced him with some teenager. I find it surprising that during his diatribe that Angle failed to mention the most likely of heroes; the one that would kick all of their asses: Captain America. Also, after seeing it for a couple of weeks now, is the cookie tray now considered one of the WWF's "legal foreign objects?" And now, onto three observations for Sunday night's Summerslam... Well, it comes down to this: The Dirtbag of Doophus teams with Chris (I'm a good worker, but I'm saddled with crappy gimmicks) Kanyon vs. The Biker formerly known as the Undertaker and Kane. Kanyon and DDP may be champions, but this match has bitch-slapping written all over it. The Brothers of Destruction just may be on their way to tag team of the year as they will take these guys out so badly that people will forget about Germany vs. France as one of the biggest stompings of all time. It's a shame that Kanyon has to have such a jackass for a partner. Memo to DDP: If you agree to appear at a "charity" show, you go there, shake some hands, kiss some babies, work hard in your match, and keep your pie-hole shut. Otherwise, don't show up at all, idiot. In one of the most eagerly anticipated matches of all time(yeah, right), The Rock will put down Booker Q to win the WCW title, thus ending one of the worst title reigns since Ronnie Garvin (1987) and Lex Luger (1991). Wouldn't it be nice if Booker could just be seen and not heard? It would be great if he could just perform like he did in WCW, but the "Guys who know everything" want him to look like a schlub. As for the WWF title match, Loser 3:16 takes on The Olympic Hero/Zero. While Angle has gotten a tremendous push over the past couple of months, they are not ready to have The Alliance lose the cherished gold belt. With Rock winning as well, it brings up the dreaded "Unification Match" if they decide not to do a WCW/ECW TV show. With respect to those last two matches, I'd like to quote a very sage philosopher from the world of hockey. During the playoffs each year, Canadian broadcasting legend Don Cherry pleads with the officials to "Just let the players play." What he means is let the players determine the outcome. In wrestling, we know the outcome is pre- determined, but I'm asking the WWW "Higher ups" to not let run-in, upon run-in, upon run-in to determine these two matches that could be great if you let them. I have a feeling that my pleas will fall upon deaf ears however. In the Rock-Booker match, expect at least Shane-O to interfere, and maybe Vince. I see something like Shane winding up to hit Rock with a chair while the Q man holds him. Rock moves out of the way, Booker gets clocked, and Rock wins. The main event may have even more interference as the whole story will revolve around the Alliance desperately trying to keep the belt. Look for Angle to be screwed similar to last month-An anklelock with no ref in sight, and then-BOOM!! Out go the lights. This is part two of the new WWF on PPV. Hopefully, it will be s solid show. Invasion did what it was supposed to; It drew people in. Now Summerslam has to keep them in. And lastly, stop looking at that circle. ====================================================================== Remember...=========================================================== -Remember that if you've missed any TV Shows, PPV's or more?
