Here is a statement direct from the site. Rock has baby Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and his wife Dany gave birth to a baby girl, Simone Alexandra Johnson, 7 lbs, 10 ounces on August 14th in Davie, Florida. The Rock has affectionately nicknamed his daughter "Pebbles". ====================================================================== News from the WWF//=================================================== -The 8/16 edition of Smackdown scored a 5.1 overnight rating, with an eight share, according to Nielsen Media Research. That was the same overnight that they did last two weeks -After the show went off the air, Shane McMahon came back out and commented on the destruction down at ringside. The Rock had rolled into the ring and was still writhing in pain. Shane got into the ring and did some trash talking and laughed when The Rock, in a seated position gave him the "Bring it!" signal. Shane began beating on The Rock, and the second he turned around, The Rock performed his "trademark" kip up, unleashed a few rights into Shane's face and gave him The Rock Bottom. To Rocky's credit, even after the Rock Bottom, he sold the table spot as if he was completely depleted. Rock finally got to his feet and went to leave the ring, but in response to the cries from the crowd, he came back in, hit The People's Elbow, and then weakly did a four corner second rope pose before leaving. Shane was then helped to the back by Sgt. The Post said that while McMahon was initially involved with the creation of the show, he slowly cut back his involvement and eventually sent UPN a letter to sever ties completely with the show, asking that he not be listed in the show's credits. The Post said that the letter also stated that McMahon did not want to be paid for his participation in the program. WWF spokesman Gary Davis told the Post that McMahon backed out of Manhunt because he had a full plate with the WWF, XFL and Tough Enough. The show can be seen every Saturday night at midnight and it's called "UPW Live!" -UPN's "Manhunt", which Vince McMahon and the WWF were originally supposed to be involved with but pulled out of the project, has been exposed to be a work. Challenges on the show were worked, scenes had been re-shot, and the show had scripts. -Southern Ontario Canada will soon be getting it's own wrestling show, only this time, On TV. Literally! Their new stock symbol is ``FDVI'' and will be effective after the close of business, August 16, 2001. The reason behind the name change is because WOW Entertainment is diversifying their business ventures. They changed the name because, according to the press release, of "expanded current and future anticipated holdings beyond Women of Wrestling, Inc.". Two other companies are listed as being part of FDVI. They are Murphy Development, Ltd., which is a commercial and retail real estate development company and CornerStone Wireless Services, Inc., which offers engineering and architectural services specializing in the wireless telecommunications industry. Gordon, who started ECW and was its manager during its "glory days", left the company in 1997 after the demands of running his own business and running ECW, which Paul Heyman had assumed control of by then, became too much. On a humorous note, at the time most people in and around the business thought that Heyman and Gordon parted on bad terms when in fact they remain friends to this day. Gordon has brought in Joey Styles and Don Callis (a.k.a Cyrus from ECW) to voice over both a television pilot and the commercial release of the company's event from the Arena. "In my opinion, (the mayor) is in a conflict of interest," Councillor Michael Walker said yesterday. World Wrestling Federation stars appear with Bad Boy boss Blaine Lastman in advertisements for the furniture and appliance store chain. He said yesterday Bad Boy has nothing to do with city business or Wrestlemania. The Municipal Conflict of Interest Act prohibits a city politician from participating in a decision that benefits his spouse, children or parents. However, the matter must be an issue before council, said Peter-John Sidebottom of Ontario's municipal affairs ministry. Jim Warren, Lastman's deputy chief of staff, said council will not be asked to make decisions concerning Wrestlemania. "These are people who basically are considering putting on an event here and all the mayor said is, 'That would be great,'" Warren said. The mayor recently said efforts are under way to stage Wrestlemania at the SkyDome in 2002. A host city will be chosen in September.
