Tell your friends about the BEST newsletter around to subscribe today. Enjoy this latest edition of nWN! -LOL...it's nice to see that TBS is grasping at straws now that Thunder is gone. Ture, the show got only a 2.0 ratings every week, but that was TWICE the amount any other show on the network got. USA must be feeling it too. They've gone from solid 5's and 6's every Monday to solid 2's for what they've been showing since. People slam wrestling, but never forget the ratings it brought in. I think it's worth ignoring wrestling if it brings in those types of numbers. Remember, in TV, it's all about the numbers. I liken it to CBS giving Survivor to ABC because the publicity is too much and the validity behind the show is straining. We have a couple of new affiliates and they are doozies for those of you who are into E-Fed's and nes sites. They are at http://www.eswfed.com & http://welcome.to/wfwa repoectively. Check them out! This buyrate makes InVasion the fourth most watched wrestling PPV in history. Source// Ultimo ====================================================================== News from the WWF//=================================================== -Expect RVD to face off against Jeff Hardy in a match for the Hardcore Title at SummerSlam. -Remember, SmackDown goes live tonight at 8PM on both UPN in the States and on The Score in Canada. -The Rock was in Entertainment Weekly (print version) this past week. The article was on the best and worst movies of the summer, and the best and worst of each category. The Rock won for "most over-hyped cameo" in "The Mummy Returns". The article didn't say anything bad about the Rock, just that he was over-exposed for so little screen time. The Rock beat out Charlton Heston for his cameo in "Planet of the Apes". -The APA will be hosting the first ever live edition of SmackDown at WWF New York tonight. -At this stage the working idea for the new Saturday night WWF show is for it to be called "WWF Attitude". -Sunday Night Heat on Sunday did a 1.63 rating and 3 share. Source// WWF.com, Ultimo, 1Wrestling ====================================================================== News from WCW-ECW//=================================================== -DDP will be on Byte This! on Friday up at the WWF.com website at 4PM Eastern. -In a conference call, DDP said that when Kimberly's contract expires with AOL/Time Warner, she most likely won't sign on with the WWF has they have a more physical schedule than she's used to. -A couple of new an interesting domain names have recently been purchased by WWFE for WCW Inc., including: WCWPrimalUrge.com, WCWDefiance.com, WCWUnitedStatesChampions.com, WCWCruiserweights.com, and WCWLateNightAppetite.com. However, of all the names purchased, perhaps the two that are the most interesting off are WCWHardOnSaturdayNight.com and WCWHard- OnSaturdayNight.com. -WCW.com has added Test to their Bio section. You can view it by clicking http://www.wcw.com/stars/Test/index.html -Ivory has been also added and you can view her bio by clicking http://www.wcw.com/stars/ivory/index.html -Yesterday on Mancow's Morning Madhouse, Booker T was a phone-in guest. He talked about how he was the only major player to accept a release from Time Warner. He said that he was the biggest wrestler in the WWF (yes, he even said higher than the Rock and Steve Austin). When asked about Stone Cold being his leader, Booker said that Austin was the leader of the Alliance, but not him. Then he said you won't see the People's Eyebrow, Elbow, or anything like that because he's going to beat the Rock's ass. (If you couldn't guess, he was in partial kayfabe mode) Source// Ultimo, 1Wrestling ====================================================================== News from the rest of pro-wrestling//================================= -Be sure to check out JeffTheRef.com for an interview with Scott Hudson coming this Friday! -Independent star and occasional WWF Metal/Jakked wrestler Lo Ki appears in the September 2001 issue of THE SOURCE magazine as a model in the fashion section. He is on page 256 and 258 under the name "Smiley Jimenez". Independent wrestler Xavier is also pictured in the section. -Bill Goldberg was offered front row tickets for the 8/5 house show in San Diego, CA, and almost went to the show, however he realised that a confrontation would probably arise and that there was a chance his presence could upstage the show, which is something he didn't want to do considering that it's almost certain that one day he and the WWF will negotiate regarding his future. Source// Ultimo, 1Wrestling ====================================================================== Article//============================================================= Turner's loss of wrestling proving costly The Hollywood Reporter (http://hollywoodreporter.com) today has a story on Turner CEO Jamie Kellner's efforts to turnaround the fortunes of the Turner networks. It talks about his plans to build up ratings for CNN, CNN Headline News, TNT, TBS and Cartoon Network. In a wrestling related note, Larry Gerbrandt, chief operating officer of market research firm Kagan World Media said, "WCW Wrestling used to be a big draw at TBS and TNT, but they've lost that. (Turner networks) really in some respects have to start from scratch with finding the next generation of viewer." For those of you who do not remember, the Turner Networks had a chance to keep wrestling on their TV schedule if they sold to Fusient Media Ventures. Deals feel apart and Turner sold to the WWF for a much- reduced price. When WCW's sale price came out at such a low ball price, many people questioned the deal since Brad Siegel, who was in charge of the WCW sale, and WWF's COO Stu Snyder are friends. They were even rumored to be in discussions to put together a deal for the "re-launched" WCW, an idea that has since been put on hold by the WWF, to air on the Turner networks. Those plans were squashed by the Turner legal department due to the fear that if the WWF got a TV deal on the Turner networks, it would give Fusient Media Ventures a case for a lawsuit since Turner pulling the TV slots for the "old" WCW was a key reason Fusient pulled out of buying the "old" WCW. Without wrestling, Kellner now is taking a new route with programming. OR "SUMMER SLAMMED" VISIT MY HOME PAGE: http://members.aol.samjerry I thought I might save you the $29.95 your Cable or Satellite Company is going to rip you off for SummerSlam (unless you're one of those people who they graciously give it to for free), by giving you the results of the matches. These picks are guaran-F'N-teed to be 110% perfect, or you can get my next PPV picks for free. What other Columnist would make you an offer like that? Sorry guys, No Bra and Panties Match. You'll just have to make do with Princess Stephanie New Two. Without any further ado, here they are: Test(icle) and Big Daddy Dudley's favorite Boyz, Bubba Ray and D-Von v. The Budweiser Twins and Big Daddy Dudley's bastard offspring Spike, accompanied by his true love, sweet and innocent Molly. A match made in heaven (either there or in a still). The Dudley Death Drop v. The Dudley Dogg; Beer v. Moonshine. Chalk one up for The Evil Empire. Paybacks are a bitch and so is a pissed off girlfriend. Molly hasn't forgotten the broken leg Spikey's big, bad brothers gave him. D-Von may go for a table, but it wont help. A Dogg and a Clothesline from Hades, and that's all she wrote. Score: New Kids On The Block 0 - Evil Empire 1 Jeffrey Hardy (C), of the North Carolina Hardy's v. Mr. PPV, Mr. Sunday Night RVD, for the WWF Hardcore Championship. There is no truth to the rumor that Jeffrey plans to do a Swanton Bomb off the third balcony; it will be off the second balcony. Unfortunately when he hits the runway, RVD will have taken off by then. By the time the FAA arrives to investigate the crash site, RVD will hit a VanDaminator and a Five Star Splash from just inside the ozone layer. This will end a Hardcore Match that more appropriately should have been called a Survivor Takes All Match. Score: Shane and Perky 1 - Evil Empire 1. Japanese Buzzsaw (C) v. X-Puke (C) for WWF Light Heavyguy / WCW Cruiserweight Unification Match (Not to be confused with Rev. Moon's Unification). Flying feet, Tarantulas and Bronco Busters and Red, Green, Yellow and Pistachio Mist. The WWF gives you something for every taste. The only Intra-Federation Match. Paul E. will be rooting for them to kill each other, or will he? You don't suppose he has gotten to Yoshohiro do you? Will the Country Squire have his very proper English heart torn asunder, and his big English posterior kicked? Not going to happen ... not at this PPV anyway. The British - Nipponese Alliance (Not to be confused with "The" Alliance) is too over for that to happen. There will be tears in D-ville tonight and dancing in The Commissar's office. Score: Emperor's Kids Still 1 - Emperor's Team - Still 1, Tea and Sushi 1 - X-Punk Still Sucks Lance Storm (C) v. The 2001 KOTR and 1/2 of Canada's Best (only)? Comedy Duo, for the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Baby brother Christian will find another scratch on the KOTR trophy and may or, may not make it to the arena on time. Just Incredible (Spelling outside Beautiful Downtown Lower Dudleyville) will be in the man from Calgary, Alberta. Canada's corner. This will look more like a Tag Team Match than a Basic One-On-One. This time baby brother wont be sleeping on the floor when Justin tries one of his dastardly deeds. He will nail him will a Reverse Backbreaker, just as Edge is planting Mr. Storm's head with his aerial DDT. Planted, watered, pruned, a fitting epitaph for Mr. Storm. Now Christian has a belt and trophy to shine and carry. Score: Disowned Offspring - 1 Disowner - 2 Y2J v. Rhyno. Sweet Stephanie's nemesis v. her newest hero. Y2J will again remind everyone that $2 will get you a look at Stephanie's New 2, and a whole lot more. Rhyno will be pawing at the ground with his front hooves, wanting to Gore Y2J. Anyone remember the stunt The Canadian Crybaby pulled to save him from $oldberg's Jackhammer? For those who don't, he pull a metal plate inside his jersey and when $oldberg nailed him, it was his 9th (or was it his 34th) concussion. Y2J doesn't wear a jersey, but he might put a smaller one inside his bottoms. Y2J is on a roll; Rhyno has a lot of Gore's ahead of him. Sorry Miss Sweetness, no revenge tonight. In fact, I see A Lion Tamer (or in your case, A Pussy* Tamer) in your future. Score Shane-O- Mac'ers / Trash Bag Ho'ers 1 - Proud Papa - 3 *Get your minds out of the Gutter, it's Pussy as in Pussycat. Dirtbag Doophus Page (DDPee) and His Faithful Indian Stooge Kanyon v. Brothers From Hell, a very pissed off Taker and an equally pissed off Kane, along with Mrs. Taker, Sara, in a WCW / WWF Tag Team Championship Unification Match, in a Steel Cage. Paul Bearer has prepared the cheapest coffin for Dirtbag's remains. There is no escape for the slimeball this time, but there just may be a monkey in the woodpile, or should I say a snake in The Taker's Mausoleum. We shall find out that Sara was into being stalked and has eyes for Dirtbag only (Yuck, Double Yuck, etc.). As DDPee is lying is his own mold and Kanyon is counting those better than him, Sara will slam the cage door on her husband, knocking into the next cemetary. DDPee will arise and (I hate to say this) hit Kane with A Bang. Exit DDPee and Kanyon from cage and up the ramp with Sara hugging the slimeball all the way. Taker will watch with vengeance in his eyes. Will The Lord of Darkness return? Taker, your fans hope so. Score: Children of the Dammed 2 - Evil Incarnate - 3 Mr. T's 3rd cousin Buckwheat (C), accompanied by The Emperor's male offspring, v. The People's Champion. Spinadoodie v. The Rock Bottom and The People's Elbow. for The WCW Championship. Will we see the return of Buckwheat's brother, that world famous English Playwright Stevie Ray? Sorry to say he's busy welcoming the new students to his English Diction class at Oxford and was unable to break away. He did however send this message to his baby brother, "Goze anz gess afta dats Rok. Ubble ments duh opsides hees hed eshpe." Shane will do something he has never done before; he will try to trip The Rock from ringside, run in and nail The Rock will whatever he can get his grubby little hands on, etc. Expect to see a Spinadoodie, kicks by the bunch from Buckwheat, and the usual offense from The Rock. Another Slobberknocker (tip of the ring apron to Good Old JR). The Alliance will send shock troops into help Buckwheat. all to no avail. The Rock has a date with Stone Cold Steve Austin (SCSA) at the next PPV in a WCW / WWF Unification (man is that word getting overused or what). The roof will come off the building as The Rock nails Buckwheat with a Rock Bottom, followed by The People's Elbow. Shane will get a set to match. The Rock will walk out with the Title and promptly donate the Belt to Goodwill, who will respectfully decline, citing they only accept donations that have a value. Score: Shamed Shane's Soldiers 2 - Emperor's Hoard 4 SCSA (C) v. Poster Boy for Dairy Industry, for The WWF Championship. We'll see a Lou Theisz Press, Stunner(s), Ankle Lock Submission Holds, and lots of Suflexes. We'll see fighting in the ring, at ringside, in the crowd, backstage, out in the street, and into the next zip code. We'll see outside interference. We'll see pins and obvious three counts while the referee is out for a pit stop. We may even see Mrs. SCSA and her Plastic Enhancements. What we wont see is Milk Guy win and take home the Title. His time will come, just not now. The Rock v. SCSA to unify the WCW and WWF Championships is in the cards for the next PPV. Final Score: Shane and Stephanie 3 (Five if you count Steph's New Two - which would give The Alliance the win) - The Devil 4 I see this as being a 7 or and 8, or possibly even a 9, depending on how good the SCSA - Hero match is. Will it be worth the $29.95 (Slightly higher west of Beautiful Downtown Lower Dudleyville)? That's up to you. It will definitely be worth it to those the cable companies "gave" it to for free. Since I have given you all the winners at no cost to you, and should you wager a few Francs and make a killing, remember The SamJerry Memorial Computer Fund is still accepting donations. ====================================================================== Remember...=========================================================== -Remember that if you've missed any TV Shows, PPV's or more?
