Thanks! ====================================================================== TOP HEADLINE//======================================================== The Westchester County Business Journal has an article on the ECW/HHG bankruptcy case. They delve into the case and the battle between ECW/HHG, the WWF, and Annodeus, a subsidiary of Acclaim Entertainment Inc. of Glen Cove, NY. There was nothing ground breaking, but it gives a good history of the case. One interesting note to come out of the story is the revenues and monies lost by ECW. Revenues went from $5.8 million in 1999 to $4.1 million last year and only $66,733 in the first three months of this year. One can assume that $66,733 is the revenues brought in from the Guilty As Charged 2001 PPV and the two shows run the week after the PPV, as ECW ceased operations after those shows, as well as videotape and merchandise sales. Losses were $1.2 million in 1997, $1 million in 1998 and $3.5 million in 1999, with no figure available for 2000. Looking at these numbers, it is no wonder ECW could not survive. Obviously, the TNN deal caused ECW great losses, as they tried to expand in 1999 and their losses tripled. They come back and Booker T receives the Rock Bottom and the People's Elbow. Rhyno got the Walls of Jericho then. Shane got Rock Bottomed and then got hit by the lionsault by Jericho. Then Shane got the Walls put on him and then Hebner kicked Booker T and then kicked Shane a couple of times. -There was some serious backstage heat at Raw last night due to the Rock's dropping of the F bomb during his promo last night. TNN officials were shocked that the WWF used that kind of language and were reportedly irate that it happened. It also surprised many people in the company, since they didn't know it was coming either. I am not sure where the actual blame falls on the word being used. Rock was cleared to say it, so he's in the clear. I guess if it falls anywhere, it has to lay at the feet of Stephanie McMahon, since she is the head of the writing team and that makes it her department. Or how about if the Rock was ready to make the all important "final" tag..you know..the one that leads to the "house of fire"..and he uses all his might to reach over into the corner to make the tag, and he tags.......Lou Thez. Remember kids, it is very important that your tag team partner be born in this century..and yes kids, there are signs you MUST look for to know if your tag team partner is a little OLD to be wrestling. As a matter of fact, let me please recite from a pamphlet I received from Pueblo, Colorado, about the top ten signs that you're tag partner is too old. 10. He opens up his refrigerator and drinks out of a milk carton that has a picture of the Lindburgh baby in the "Missing Children" space 9. He thinks Colin Powell should be subject to Jim Crow laws 8. VISIT MY HOME PAGE: http://members.aol.samjerry Another RAW, another winner. With SummerSlam looming this Sunday, August 19, 2001, RAW was used to set it up. The Main Event was a tag team match pitting The Rock and Y2J v. Buckwheat and Rhyno. The Rock will be meeting Buckwheat, trying to take the WCW Championship from him, and Y2J will be facing Rhyno. As a prelude to the match The Rock and Y2J traded words with their opponents, who were assisted by Princess Stephanie. As usual it was no contest. Buckwheat ought to take a vow of silence because each time he swaps insults with The Rock, he comes away looking more and more foolish. The biggest thing to come out of Y2J were the "Before" and "After" pictures of The Princess. Along with virtually every (male) fan, he has noticed that she is looking a little different lately. Either she has gone the plastic enhancement route or is a late bloomer, and boy has she bloomed. Torrie Wilson claims to have the biggest and best breasts in The WWF and The Alliance; she now has some serious competition, as Miss Sweetness and Light was definitely Plenty .. er Pretty In Pink. We got to see The Spinadoodie from Buckwheat, and as JR pointed out, the crowd couldn't have cared less. Thanks to the assistance of King Shane and Steph, Buckwheat and Rhyno won. After the match The Rock kicked ass and took names. He nailed Shane and Buckwheat with Rock Bottoms, and was about to do the same to The Princess, but was stopped by Shane in the nick of time. Judging by the way she frantically pulled her dress down, Steph was not expecting it, and may not have been dressed for it. The crowd roared as The Rock planted each of them. The final score: Rock Bottom 3, Spinadoodie 0. Our American Olympic hero met RVD, looking to bring the Hardcore Title back to the WWF. They fought on the floor and into the crowd. The only "weapon" used was an Acme Steel Chair. The winner of an excellent match between two of the best wrestlers in the world was ... Jeff Hardy. Using Beautiful Downtown Lower Dudleyville Rules that allow anyone to bring their own referee and make the last pin, before running for their life, the walking advertisement for Acme Wheelchairs joined a bunch of Alliance members in the ring and did just that. The Taker and Kane gave Sean O'Hair and Chuck Palumbo a rematch for the WCW Tag Team Title in a Steel Cage. It wasn't a pretty sight as O'Hair and Polumbo got their asses handed to them on a mesh steel platter. I doubt they would have stood a chance had they brought a tank with them. There was as much action outside the ring as WWF Tag Team Champions Dirtbag Doophus Page (DDPee) and his adoring stooge Kanyon chased Sara around the ring, forcing her to climb to the top of the cage to avoid DDPee getting his slimy paws on her. They will be facing (and being de-faced) Taker and Kane at SummerSlam in a Title v. Title Cage Match. I contacted several insurance companies trying to take out a $10,000,000 life insurance policy on DDPee but was laughed at. Pity poor Kanyon; he is going to be a Collateral Casualty at DDpee's death. Stone Cold Steve Austin gave The Alliance a fifteen minute pep talk to open RAW. They surrounded the ring and hung on his every word, as SCSA stood in the center and ranted and raved. He may be enjoying his role, but he is coming off as a clown. He called several people into the ring to talk about their recent matches and SummerSlam. The last man he addressed was Tazz, who he made a fool of, He culminating things with a Stunner and by having The Alliance kick his ass seven ways to Sunday. One match I would love to see is SCSA v. Tazz, The Stunner v. The TazzMission, providing The Emperor allows Tazz to be ECW Tazz. This may have set that match up. If it did, it was worth listening to SCSA rant on and on. The WWF v. The Alliance has put a charge back into wrestling. We are seeing matches we only talked about before. The wrestlers seem to have a renewed vigor and are giving us some fantastic shows. If this is played right (and I have every confidence that it will), the possibilities are endless. This weeks SmackDown will be live, and is the last show before SummerSlam. I expect it to be a Slobberknocker.
