Bagwell was originally set to face Steve Corino; however, the plans changed when Buff heard the finish. Bagwell was supposed to do the job to Corino. Later on, Bagwell approached Corino and told him that he would be going over in the match and also approached John Collins (MECW owner) about changing the finish. Corino was said to be upset that no one from MECW management told him about the finish and said he wouldn't allow it. In the end Bagwell went over Jack Victory and left by intermission. At best, it was mediocre. To their credit, the WWF realized it and got back on the track with SmackDown, which had both good matches and funny spots. The Main Event, a Six Man Tag Team Elimination Match pitting Our American Olympic Zero Turned Hero and The Hardy Boyz v. Stone Cold Steve Austin (SCSA) and Big Daddy Dudley's favorite Boyz, Bubba Ray and D-Von. To the surprise of no one, except maybe the residents of Not So Beautiful Uptown Dudleyville, the last two standing were Hero and SCSA. In a preview of what we can expect at SummerSlam, they pounded each other in the ring, at ringside, up the ramp and finally at the top of the ramp. We saw Hero carted off on a stretcher only to make a miraculous recovery and turn SCSA's ankle into Kibble and Bits. In one of the funniest promos in a while, The Peoples Champion traded barbs with the WCW Champion Sucka, Buckwheat (aka Spinadoodie) and Prince Shane. Needless say Buckwheat came out on the short end of their exchange. He would have done better peeing into a wind storm. Maybe his brother Stevie Ray can get away from teaching Classical English Literature at Oxford and help him prepare for his match v. The Rock at SummerSlam. With that in mind I contacted Stevie and he said, "Da bedder wun iz gonna win, dats wut Ize theenk, sucka." Way to go big fellow. On an entirely different subject, I thought I might say a few words about everyone's favorite wrestler, Dirtbag Doophus Page (Dee Dee Pee). I am sometimes asked why I pick on poor Dirtbag. Reports of his recent activities should answer the question: It is being reported that our boy was approached by WWF brass who were unhappy about the way the stalker angle with Sara was going. What did our boy do you ask? What else, he blamed Sara, citing her inexperience. Rather than accept responsibility, he tried to stick it to Sara. Already considered a poor worker, he was taken aside by HHH for a heart-to-heart. Rather than listen to HHH and try to fix things, he blew it off. The next thing our boy reportedly did was show up at the Pillman Memorial Show last week and act like a grade A A-hole. He was scheduled to be in the Main Event, but for whatever reason wanted to leave before intermission and bitched up a storm over it. Jeff Hardy's flight to the show was canceled, so he paid for another flight and arrived late. For reasons known only to him, our boy was unhappy about this and let it be known to anyone who would listen. It is reported that a couple of the wrestlers were a bit annoyed at him, especially since this was a charity event. Nice going Dirtbag. Somehow I don't think Emperor McMahon is going to put up with his crap the way his buddy Good Old Eric did. At the rate he's going, he may be doing the Indy Circuit soon. I hear there's a spot open in ACW (Arctic Championship Wrestling). He'll love it up in Frozen Butt, Alaska, wrestling Claws, The Friendly Polar Bear.
