Even though Bagwell was let go last month by the WWF, they had continued to pay him and were going to do so for about three months. The word I am getting is that when the WWF heard about Bagwell making the appearance for MECW, they stopped the severance pay (rumored to be about $45,000), all because Buff worked MECW for a reported $1,000 payday. He was scheduled to face Booker T in the main event, a preview of their SummerSlam co-main event. Booker T's strained calf muscle turned out to be worse than forecast. Jim Ross predicted Booker wouldn't miss action in his WWF.com column. Rhyno took Booker's place in the main event. -Raw is in Anaheim, Calif. tonight. Smackdown tapings tomorrow night will be in Los Angeles, Calif. Tonight on RAW IS WAR -- at 9/8 CT on TNN -- the People's Champion will compete in his first match in over four months when he takes on Shane McMahon in a Street Fight! This match was made last Thursday on SmackDown! as a result of Rock's decision to join the World Wrestling Federation. Knowing Rock's pent- up frustration over the past four months, and knowing what Shane McMahon is capable of in these kind of situations, the stage is set for an explosion tonight on TNN! SummerSlam is just 13 days away on Pay-Per-View, and Stone Cold Steve Austin and Kurt Angle are sure to be getting in each others' faces just two weeks before they clash for the Federation Championship. Check back later today for a full RAW preview once more matches are announced! ====================================================================== Comment//============================================================= Commentary by Dream Team Futures of the Business Whoever thought that back in 1997 at the Survivor Series in New York City's Madison Square Garden, a star would be made in the form of the one and only Rocky "Cauliflower" * Maivia.And who else ever thought that you could market a guy in Black Trunks and Black Boots, plain as day, and make him the most used name in wrestling households today, love him or hate him, referring to Stone Cold Steve Austin. It makes you wonder who the futures of the business are going to be today... 1) Matt Hardy - The Next Marty Janetty Ever since the fateful day on Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake's Barber Shop, when Marty Janetty was first thrown into a plate glass window, we've known who the better of the Rockers was, and that was the one and only Shawn Michaels. Now, another team on the horizon of superstardom is hopefully going to have another split up. Jeff and Matt, The Hardy Boyz, in our opinion, should have a split up to push Jeff to the point of Superstardom without the weight of his brother on him. Jeff has more stamina, more athletic ability (Matt's leg drop looks like a wreslting figure's leg drop, all stiff and such) and the Charisma to make it as a future headliner, especially with the addition of new WCW cruiserweights, such as Kidman, and new ECW Flyers such as Rob Van Dam. 2) Diamond Dallas Page DDP has worked harder, we'd have to say, than anybody to get to this point in his career, not quite main event, but big enough, so that most signs you see in the audience now are DDP signs. He was even inserted in a long running angle that made the Undertaker look human, the stalking of his wife Sara. DDP is a very marketable figure in Pro- Wrestling, like or hate WCW. The work ethic he has towards making big guys look great makes you forget that even he himself is a big guy, with his agility and stamina. We Say that DDP deserves every bit of stardom he gets, and even more, he works his ass off for it. 3) Rob Van Dam - 'Nuff Said Rob Van Dam. What can we say about him? The man placed second in the Kalamazoo Toughman Contest in his first contest outing, and just made his impact on professional wrestling like no other. He worked for what was basically an Independant promotion in Extreme Championship Wrestling, and his work ethic and High-Flying ability moved his fan base over to a company, when he himself hadn't been mentioned or seen on Television for months (too many months if you ask us). He exeplifies the work ethic we'd love to see every single wrestler in any orginization, and still have the safety that he has. Speaking of Rob Van Dam, just a little side note. It's a hypocrisy that a Rob Van Dam Vs. Jerry Lynn fight is not aired on TV, even if it was Smackdown! or Live Wire for that matter. Tell the WWF we want more matches like these two guys have!
