Thanks for reading. naidO// ====================================================================== TOP HEADLINE//======================================================== -The New York Post ran a story yesterday stating that Time Warner cable in NYC has shifted around some of their channels in the lineup, effective on September 5. The big news is that TNN has been upgraded from channel 72 all the way up to 36. Generally, the higher up the dial a cable channel is, the better. The story quoted Time Warner spokeswoman Harriet Novet as saying, "A network like Bravo or TNN is quite different from what it was years ago. They've made investments and broadened their audiences. We're trying to do what we can to highlight them." That is exactly why Viacom spent all that money on WWF programming. Up from 4.3 last week. -This year's Armageddon will take place in San Diego, CA on December 9th. This will be the third PPV to take place in California in a span of 7 months. You can read it by clicking http://www.wcw.com/ecwsite/philly.html Source// WCW.com ====================================================================== News from the rest of pro-wrestling//================================= -The seventh episode of Tough Enough scored a 2.1 rating, the same number as last week and the show average since it began airing. -Ed Ferrara, who in addition to his booking duties for the Time Warner-owned WCW also wrestled as "Oklahoma" (a parody of Jim Ross), will not be reprising the character for Bill Behrens's NWA Wildside promotion. Ferrara will be appearing at the taping tomorrow, but not doing his old character. There was a miscommunication between the parties that led to "Oklahoma" being listed and advertised on a promotional poster. In fact though, Okie will not be back in action, but Ferrara will. Source// 1Wrestling ====================================================================== Article//============================================================= News & notes from Jim Ross -Trish Stratus had surgery on Thursday in Toronto to remove a bone chip in her ankle, and she's expected to be out of the ring for a few weeks. -It looks like Billy Kidman has a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) tear in his knee, but his MRI results will be available sometime Friday. -While Booker T has a painful calf strain, it should not keep him out of action. -While Stone Cold Steve Austin is not 100%, he will return to the ring on Sunday in San Diego, CA. -Sean O'Haire has a sore collarbone and elbow, but will not miss any ring time. -Hugh Morrus has tendonitis in his shoulder, but it should also not keep him out of the ring. -HHH's rehabilitation is ahead of schedule and he will continue to rehab six days a week for the next few weeks. -Spike Dudley is expected to be released by his doctor for action in the next few days after a hairline fracture of the fibula. -Flash from OVW will undergo surgery next week for a torn triceps. -Chris Benoit is healing very well from neck surgery. -The range of motion in Rikishi's injured shoulder is much better, and he's expected back in October or November. -Eric Angle is healing from a torn biceps tendon but still has a long way to go for full recovery. -Molly Holly will soon relocate to OVW to assist in training Victoria and to continue to work on her own game. -Ross noted: "There is no movement whatsoever with any negotiations with any former WCW competitors. Some are not interested at all, some mildly interested, some have financial issues to deal with, and Scott Steiner is still injured." -Several wrestlers will play in a celebrity softball game at Shea Stadium in New York on 8/11. -Ross will be meeting with Rey Mysterio Jr. next week in Los Angeles, CA. -The "Alliance" is a working title as it now stands but the final brand name may well have 'alliance' in it. -WWFE will launch a new two-hour broadcast on TNN Saturday nights from 10 to midnight, starting on 8/25. The exact format has yet to be finalized, but it will be a magazine format-style show. LiveWire and Superstars will be cancelled. The Saturday night show should allow more personality profiles, which will familiarize the audience with some of the unrecognized talents. This show may feature several exclusive features, will probably have a new broadcast team, and will provide the opportunity to thoroughly promote the Sunday PPV's. Ross expected it to take a few weeks of trial and error and reviewing the feedback to settle in on a compatible format. -The wrestlers will be off from 12/23/01 until 1/2/02 for the holidays, which gives them time to spend with their families and for some to recover from any niggling injuries. -Tickets are still available for the two live Smackdown broadcasts later this month in Salt Lake City on 8/16 and Denver on 8/23. -The following talents will soon be headed to Cincinnati to train with the Heartland Wrestling Association (HWA) and Les Thatcher: Kaz Hayashi, Johnny The Bull, Kwee Wee, Shannon Moore, Reno, Elix Skipper, Jason Jett, Evan Karagis, Lash LeRoux, Jamie Noble, Kid Romeo and Jimmy Yang. -The Big Boss Man and Dean Malenko will be spending more time with the WWF's developmental groups in the next few weeks. -D'Lo Brown will soon finish his stint in Puerto Rico, and it looks as if he will be brought back to the WWF roster soon. -The long-term plan remains in place for the WWF and the Alliance to each do their own weekly TV show, but most feel that is still months away. The WWF will be promoting two house shows on Saturday and Sunday nights beginning in October with a major market and a smaller, secondary market. -Mike Sanders will soon be spending more time in Stamford working on his announcing skills. I have realized that with classes starting again in a few weeks I am going to have no time anymore to write this article so for now I am signing off. But on the bright side i am leaving you with one last screw job. It was a pretty interesting week, Rock has returned, Angle Vs Austin is now official for SummerSlam, and Tommy Dreamer actually got involved on RAW (sorry have to mark out for Dreamer whenever I can.) But there was one event on Smackdown that topped all of this. As soon as i saw it go down I knew we had a winner... The winner is...Debra! When she nailed her husband with that cookie tray I was really impressed, I thought it was a great moment. I knew right there when I heard that "whack" that Debra was definatly this week's winner. She definatly screwed her husband over a bit. I mean hows the WWF champion who gets beat up by his wife going to beat Kurt Angle at SummerSlam? It's going to be a great few weeks and hopefully I'll be able to see most of it.
