Thanks for reading. naidO// ====================================================================== TOP HEADLINE//======================================================== -1wrestling reports that it looks like the WWF are close to forming a deal to purchase the ECW assets from the HHG Corp/ECW bankruptcy case. The trustees have been in contact with the WWF's legal team, and it looks like the final agreement will call for the WWF to pay $250,000 for the assets, as well as $50,000 for using the trademarks of ECW, however that payment will only cover them to use the trademarks of ECW up until July 31. Source// 1Wrestling ====================================================================== News from the WWF//=================================================== -The 7/19 edition of Smackdown drew a final 3.9 broadcast rating, down 0.1 from last week's show. -1wrestling reports that Paul Heyman has filed for personal bankruptcy, with Heyman claiming $128,500 in assets, and $2,830,385.74 in liabilities. -Never before in the history of sports entertainment have the WWF, WCW and ECW competed against each other on Pay-Per-View. The hype has begun. Check out WWFWCWInvasion.com for all the info on the PPV spectacular. -The WWF has taken another hit in the ratings. In a rare occurance, the WWF was even knocked out of the first and second place spots in the Nielsen Cable Ratings chart for the week of July 9 th to 15th. Raw Is War (the first hour of Raw) only notched a 3.5. Once again, the WWF is having serious trouble luring viewers into the first hour of their show. The second hour of Raw (War Zone) scored a little better with a 4.0. During the previous ratings period, the first hour had a 3.4 and the second a 3.9. A movie called "The Mists of Avalon" on TNN took first place away with a 4.5 and Major League Baseball's "Home Run Derby" on ESPN grabbed second place with a 4.2. -A judge in London, England is expected to make a ruling as early today in the World Wildlife Fund lawsuit against the World Wrestling Federation for violating a 1994 agreement that restricted how the wrestling company could market the specific initials. This case has been going on for a long time as far as talking and finally made it to court this week, with the final arguments heard yesterday. -The tentative return date for the Rock right now is the July 30 Raw in Philadelphia, PA. 1Wrestling reports that he is not scheduled to be at the PPV or next week's television. Of course, that could always change. -The WWF has encouraged contracted talent not currently working to take as many indy dates as possible to, presumably, keep them sharp for if/when they are ever used by the WWF. The only condition of them taking the dates is that they need to make sure that they are not booked on Mondays and Tuesdays in case they are needed for Raw and Smackdown. Eventually, it is expected that some of the lower- tier guys will be sent to developmental territories to work. Source// Slam! ====================================================================== Article//============================================================= News and notes from Jim Ross -Stone Cold Steve Austin had a CT-scan on Thursday which revealed he suffered three broken bones in his back and two broken bones in his hand after being slammed through the announce table at the King of the Ring. The bones that are broken in his back, are not load-bearing bones, which means he will be able to compete at the PPV this Sunday. Austin should be able to resume his normal schedule in two weeks time. -While Chris Jericho hyperextended his elbow on Smackdown, the injury will not cause any time off. -Kurt Angle has a black eye and whiplash from Smackdown, but will be ready for the PPV. -Spike Dudley will return to the ring in two weeks, while the Goodfather will return to the ring in one week. -Steve Blackman has recovered from his hip injury. -Triple H's return is tentatively set for November. -Chris Benoit and Rikishi's rehab are both going well. -Invasion is sold out this weekend in Cleveland, OH. -Tickets are still available for RAW and Smackdown this week in Buffalo and Pittsburgh respectively. -SummerSlam in San Jose, CA on August 19 is 85% sold out. -WWF is expected to start running two split crew house shows every Saturday and Sunday beginning in October. -As has been previously reported, there is strong interest in signing Scott Steiner once he has recovered from his nerve related injury. -Ross noted that he may start doing monthly conference calls to the media. I can not wait for Invasion Sunday. I think this PPV is going to be HUGE! So now looking back at this week prior to Invasion, let's take a look at what's gone down. "Stone Cold" returned in what was a way too predictable ending to RAW. It would have been nice if they had held off the face turn until Heat or even Invasion but oh well I guess we can't win them all. Then we have Earl Hebner and Nick Patrick story line being built up but not anyone else's? The WWF really needs to pay more attention to the true midcard instead of a referee match. Then in what was one of the funniest moments Tajiri faked turning to ECW and screwed Tazz over, which easily could have been this week's winner, but something less obvious but I hope just as important occured. So the winner is... Kurt Angle... Kurt Angle? Why Kurt Angle? Well he beat Raven in ECW rules and more importantly I think he showed everyone his "Extreme" side. Its obvious to me that Team WCW/ECW has to go over Team WWF in the main event. So now the question becomes WHO puts WCW over. Whoever it is, surly will no longer be a favorite of anyone in the WWF. So my view is this Angle puts WCW over Sunday turns and joins them because the rest of his team didnt help him, and then at SummerSlam we are left with the WWF's champion Steve Austin VS WCW's Kurt Angle, let's face it I don't think the WWF is going to put WCW over this quick instead I think they will turn a few of their guys to help get WCW over. As for the Rock he is brought back to team with Austin (remember the WWF threw out the Triple H car thing in a few months, they can do it with rock/Austin) So Angle goes back to being a full fledged heel and Rock returns to help Team WWF, all caused by Angle's winning over Raven.
