The show did a strong 5.0 cable rating with an 8.0 share, off of hours of 4.5 (6.9) and 5.6 (9.0). That is up strongly from last week's 4.7. Here are the quarters: Hour 1: 4.0, 4.3, 4.7 and 4.8 Hour 2: 5.5, 5.5, 5.6 and 5.5 Overrun: 5.8 (with a strong 10.6 share) Weekend Ratings: *Livewire did a 0.9 cable rating with a 3.3 share *Superstars did a 0.8 cable rating with a 2.7 share *Heat did a 1.9 cable rating with a 3.7 share *The Heat replay did a 1.2 cable rating with a 2.6 share *The 7/12 edition of Smackdown scored a 4.0 broadcast rating, with a 7.0 share *The 7/12 episode of Tough Enough did a 2.1 cable rating, with a 3.6 share Source// 1Wrestling ====================================================================== News from the WWF//=================================================== -In his latest column, Paul Bearer pays tribute to "Freebird" Terry Gordy, who died Monday. This was the original plan which got squashed in recent weeks as the company changed it's mind and went back and forth on the Smackdown location for that week. There was some concern initially that Toronto couldn't sell out two consecutive nights, even for TV tapings. Other Canadian dates are: Oct 15, RAW in Ottawa Oct 16th Smackdown in Montreal -Bob Holly will be racing this coming Saturday night at the Langley Motor Speedway in Hampton, VA. Holly is featured in a television ad that aired during Raw promoting the race, totally in character, saying that all the racers are going to find out why they call him Hardcore Holly. -To commemorate its 100th episode, SmackDown! has its own website at http://www.wwfsmackdown.com/ Source// The Law, The Law ====================================================================== News from WCW//======================================================= -"Mean" Gene Okerlund was on the Lytle & Lamb morning show on WWCT Rock 106 this morning and here's what he had to say: Ray Lytle asked Mean Gene about Rey Mysterio Jr. and Konnan. Gene said Mysterio was still under contract with Time Warner. Konnan is no longer under contract and is or will be wrestling in Mexico soon. Ray asked Gene about Ric Flair. Gene said Flair was still one of the best workers in the business at 52 years of age. Gene said it was a possibility Flair could do a "comeback tour" with the WWF. They asked Gene about The Rock. Gene said Rock finished up filming the first week of July and could be returning as early as the July 30th Raw. They take a couple of calls. The first caller asks Gene why a lot of wrestlers grow a "mullet" hairstyle. Gene asks why they would ask him of all people about hair. Haha! The second caller asks about Scott Hall and Kevin Nash and how they came to WCW - if they could do something similar in a return to the WWF. Gene talked about how they came to WCW and were big stars in WWF at the time. Gene said they were both tremendous workers as well. Gene put over the Lytle & Lamb show and hoped their network expanded. Gene said goodbye and they ended the segment there. (NYSE: WWF) today filed a claim for a permanent injunction and damages in the Federal Court of Canada against more than 30 sports bars and commercial establishments across Canada who are infringing upon WWFE's intellectual property through their illegal and unauthorized distribution of its monthly live pay- per-view telecasts. The claim seeks to immediately prohibit the defendants from distributing any further World Wrestling Federation pay-per-view programs and seeks more than $1.7 million (Canadian) in damages. This lawsuit is part of the company's global effort to prevent piracy and bootlegging of its intellectual properties. World Wrestling Federation Entertainment produces and broadcasts monthly pay-per-view specialty live events throughout the world. World Wrestling Federation makes these specialty events available to sports bars and for private in-home viewing upon payment of a subscription fee. "Halting this unauthorized and illegal broadcast of our intellectual property and television programming protects our fans and our numerous business partners," said Carl DeMarco, president, World Wrestling Federation Entertainment Canada, Inc.
