It starts off as the typical mainstream piece covering a WWF event, and includes a quote from Kurt Angle describing how it is difficult to keep the fans hating you when you are funny. Then the article looks at the WCW match and angle, describing how the fans booed the match, and paid as much attention to a fight in the crowd as they did the Booker T-Buff Bagwell bout. A pair of quotes from fans at the show are included, stating point blank that they did not care for WWF turning over their show to "WCW". In the words of one fan, "Their show was canceled because they suck." The story also had quotes from WWF stars on the angle, with Raven saying the WCW workers have been respectful and "The fans are going to be excited to see it". Debra stated "I think it's great for our fans" and commented that it gives the WWF more women to work with. An interesting read, given reaction to last night's show. The condition has neutralized both men, for the time being. Click to read about their condition: http://www.wwf.com/news/headlines/1065117 -Vince McMahon was said to be noticeably angry at the way the WCW main event match went down on Raw last night. From the work in the ring to the announcing, various sources told me that Vince was not pleased with the segment at all. One person said, "He absolutely hated it". The feeling backstage among pretty much everyone was that they know that the segment bombed and that they know that they have work to do with the WCW angle if they are going to make it sellable to the public. -Steve Austin's back continues to hurt him badly. After doing the beat down spot on Booker and Bagwell, he was telling people backstage that his back was hurting worse than before. -A minor note about TSN's broadcast of Raw Is War last night. Though the TSN censors cut out the attack on Undertaker's wife Sarah during last week's show, it did air on TSN last night as part of the Lugz promotional spot. -As crazy as it might sound, Bradshaw might be the "WCW mole" in the WWF. It is rumoured that the APA could be breaking up soon. Source// The Law, Latestwrestlingnews.com, Dave Scherer, SLAM! ====================================================================== News from WCW//======================================================= -Sources tell 1Wrestling.com that WWF officials are irate at some of the things that happened in the last week involving Buff Bagwell and others. Buff was involved in a fight with Shane Helms last week at the WWF training center that is said to have started when Bagwell told Helms he would never be a big star (like Buff) because he was too small. Our sources say Bagwell slapped Helms and said he didn't have the balls to do anything about it. Punches were thrown, and Bagwell walked away with a cut that required 12 stitches. Bagwell also has heat, according to our sources, because his mother made several calls to the WWF talent office complaining about his travel arrangements. Another altercation is said to have broken out at the training center between Mark Jindrak and Hugh Morrus. Sources say the two men had a verbal exchange after a botched Jindrak spot at the training center and had to be separated. -There was a lot of concern among WWF management about Buff Bagwell's performance last night. The consensus is that he needs to adjust his style quickly to work the "WWF way". Source// Dave Scherer ====================================================================== News from the rest of pro-wrestling//================================= -The webmaster of WrestlingVixxxens.com has stated that Dawn Marie is signing with them next week. This means she will be in the next photo shoot in about 8 or 9 weeks. The above news is not only incorrect, but totally false. Dawn Marie has no plans on being involved in the WrestlingVixxxens.com project. I know, I know. DAMNIT! -Here's the lateset on Jerry Lawler: Lawler had verbally agreed to the deal which did include Kat appearing on tonight's show. Lawler told at least one person and those in WWF also peg this agreement as being toward the latter part of two weeks ago. In an interview Monday, because Lawler publicly had denied not only a deal but even that any discussion between him and WWF had taken place early last week, he claimed the deal and the talks didn't take place until this past Thursday. Lawler was under the belief that both would be offered contracts. As a face-saving measure, Stacy Carter would not have had a high guarantee (or perhaps even any guarantee, but a deal). There was tremendous opposition internally after the deal was agreed on because of Carter appearing on the TV. The WWF sent Lawler a contract but didn't send Carter a contract, although she was still to appear on tonight's show. Lawler felt that wasn't acceptable and backed out. -A contestant on CBS's "Big Brother 2," a 36 year old technical writer "Bunky" from Harrisburg, N.C. seems to be a bit of a wrestling fan. As the WWF's promotions director, David Sahadi oversees production of the commercials and vignettes that appear on pay-per-views and the company's weekly television shows. Not only considered one of the most important cogs in the WWF hype machine, Sahadi has gained respect within the mainstream TV industry as evidenced last week when he and assistants Kevin Sullivan and Barry Bross received seven awards at the Promax & BDA ceremony in Miami Beach, Fla., for promotional material. The WWF Beauty Pageant commercial in which the competition disintegrates into a brawl between contestants received a gold medal for funniest promo by a program distributor. "One thing we try to do in our promos is entertain more than anything else," said Sahadi, 39. "We try to give an emotion out there. If it doesn't compel you to buy the WWF product, at least someone walks away saying, `Hey, those guys are creative. They're different.' It gives a positive reflection on the company itself." Of all the spots Sahadi has produced since joining the WWF from NBC in 1992, the most memorable came three years ago when he filmed Fred Blassie, Gorilla Monsoon, Ernie Ladd, Killer Kowalski and Pat Patterson in a "passing of the torch" commercial for Wrestlemania XV. When he showed it to McMahon, the WWF owner became overwhelmed by the emotions of watching the men he grew up with in the industry. "When the spot finished, Vince walked out of the studio," Sahadi said. "I walked outside and Vince is crying and he gives me the biggest hug. He's like, `Oh my god, Dave. I can't believe that spot. It was so powerful.' " Sahadi admits he now faces his toughest test in trying to create material that makes fans care about the WWF/World Championship Wrestling interpromotional "feud" that began in earnest on last Monday's Raw telecast. "We've trained our fans for so long to hate WCW. They've been our enemy for the past decade. All of a sudden, now we own WCW (the WWF purched it from Time-Warner in March)," he said. ====================================================================== Comment//============================================================= ROUNDING THE SQUARED CIRCLE "LET HE WHO IS WITHOUT GUILT CAST THE FIRST SUPLEX" OR "DON'T FIRE UNTIL YOU SEE THE WHITES OF THEIR THIGHS" BY SAMJERRY@AOL.COM Visit My Home Page At: http://members.aol.com/samjerry Last night on RAW the "official" WCW Invasion of the WWF began. However, it began with a whimper, not a bang. With the major WWF players nursing assorted bumps, bruises, surgeries and retakes, the Main Event was a WCW Championship Match between Booker T ("T" as in Trying Harder) (C) v. Buffy Bagwell. While that may have been a Main Event on the "Old WCW" NITRO or Blunder, it was hardly one we have come to expect from the WWF. What can be said about last night? I'm glad you asked. 1. Prince Shane told us up front that Stone Cold Steve Austin (SCSA) was barred from interfering in the Main Event by decree of Empress Linda; we just knew he would. Could our fearless WWF Champion allow his besmirchment from King of the Ring (KOR) to go unavenged? There was a better chance of OJ finding the "real" killer on the 18th hole of the course he played yesterday. 2. The Undertaker met Albert (C) for the Intercontinental Championship, apparently to avenge Kane loss to Albert last week. Sara rode in on the Taker's bike with him. Other than those in Beautiful Downtown Lower Dudleyville and Arkansas, was there a single soul that didn't expect our boy Dirtbag Doophus Page to attack The Dead Man? Once again Dirtbag got his sorry butt kicked all over the arena. He also got his Little Dirtbags kicked up into his chest by Sara. As a result of her field goal, The Seattle Seahawks will be giving her a tryout as place kicker today. I am still of a mind that Sara isn't so innocent. 3. There seems to be a Monkey in the Woodpile. Someone in the WWF appears to be leaking info to Prince Shane, as well as letting WCW guys into the arenas. With the cunning of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, The APA, Farooq and Bradshaw, deduced it was Test. They organized the locker room and kicked Test's booty all over the ring. Unfortunately their detective work was more like Inspector Clouseau. They were wrong as Sgt. Slaughter later told them Test was with him and Pat Patterson (discussing Pat's taste in formal gowns)? when WCW got in. Anyone want to bet that the Monkey isn't Our American Olympic Zero? That's where my money is. 4. The best things about WCW last night were Torrie Wilson and Stacy Kiebler. They are two fine looking females, however, Torrie can use some help with her wardrobe selection, and Stacy should be seen and not heard. Torrie had a great halter top and the ugliest skirt (?) on. Stacy has wonderful long legs, but as a ring announcer, she sounded like chalk on a blackboard. Torrie spent the entire show with Emperor Vince looking for a place to "work on her contract," or so he thought. They finally found a place to be alone, he removed his shirt, trousers and BVD's, and was anticipating a bit of "contract closure." When he turned around, Torrie was gone and Empress Linda was there. Good-bye to the fun and games he was expecting; hello to another count in the divorce proceedings. 5. We got to meet WCW's announcers: Old Arn and Scott "The Blot" Hudson. The rumors of The King's return didn't pan out. How were they? Blotty must have been real, real nervous as he began his career by announcing Booker T v. Buffy for The WWF Championship. I have a hunch he has already heard about his boo-boo. They spent more time ripping into SCSA for attacking Booker than calling the match. Apparently it was OK for Booker to attack SCSA at KOR, but not for SCSA to return the favor. SCSA was joined by Zero in the dastardly counterattack. Buffy joined them and made it three-on-Booker. After they booted Booker out into the street, SCSA and Zero showed Buffy he was also as welcome as a dose of crabs and threw him out too. Old Arn called Booker "possibly the greatest WCW Champion of all time." I think Old Arn may be in the early stages of Alzheimer's after that comment. I wonder how his closest friend Slick Ric feels about the comment. He seems to have forgotten a dozen or so others. It sounded like the same old shill job we knew and loved from Fat Tony. It's nice to push the guy in the ring, but don't insult the intelligence of the fans. All in all, not a real great RAW. Certainly not what we expected on such a momentous occasion. One can only hope SmackDown is better. ====================================================================== Remember...=========================================================== -Remember that if you've missed any TV Shows, PPV's or more?
