Thanks for reading. naidO// ====================================================================== TOP HEADLINE//======================================================== -Georgiann Makropoulos reports the WWF will start live WWF Smackdown broadcasts on Thursday, August 16 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The very next week, August 23, Smackdown will be live from Denver, Colorado. On August 30, it's Detroit, Michigan. So why is Smackdown going live? In yesterday's conference call with shareholders, Linda McMahon said internet wrestling sites spoil the show for fans and blamed the ratings on results getting out early. However, Mrs. McMahon failed to mention that her own company's website, WWF.COM, freely gives the results out two days in advance in a much more detailed fashion than most fan-based reports. The WWF website has not updated it's calendar dates yet and still has a Smackdown taping scheduled for Sacramento, California on August 21. This event has been changed to a RAW show for Monday, August 20. Tickets are on sale now. Source// 1Wrestling ====================================================================== News from the WWF//=================================================== -Here are the highlights from this week's Ross Report on WWF.com: *Chris Benoit's surgery this past Thursday lasted five hours. Chris will stay in San Antonio with his wife, Nancy, for a few days while his rehab begins. *Triple H (Paul Levesque) is still in Birmingham, Ala., doing rehab. His ring return is still scheduled for October or November. *Kurt Angle has a slight tear in his meniscus ligament in his knee. Although no surgery is required now, he will need to have athroscopic surgery down the road. *Rikishi (Solofa Fatu) is continuing his shoulder rehab and hopes to return in 3-4 months. *This Monday's edition of Raw Is War in Tacoma is sold out; however, seats are still available for Tuesday's Smackdown! taping. *The first live Smackdown! will take place on Thursday, August 16th from Salt Lake City, Utah. *WCW will run its own individual house shows beginning in October. *Several WCW wrestlers were in Stamford this week training with Ricky Santana and Dave Finlay. Many of them did interviews with publications and television so that the creative staff could get to know their personalities better. As it was last week, Tough Enough is again this week's most watched show on cable television for Thursday evening. Question: King of the Ring Shane is still feeling beat up and has cuts and bruises all over. However, he was very happy with how the match went. He was not sure, during the match, if they were going too far because whenever he or anyone is out there, the adrenaline rush takes control. Watching the tape after, he feels that they probably did go too far. There were a couple of spots in that match where "backyard things" were done. He gave a warning to people not to try that sort of stuff at home and to leave it to the pros. Question: WCW invading MSG WCW was never allowed in MSG. It was a bittersweet moment for him. There is a time for everything and things should change. He used Mark McGwire breaking the MLB home run record as an example. It was uncharted waters for them. They will be thinking over the weekend as to which WCW matches should be on WWF TV. He talked a bit about the locker rooms having to combine. It is similar to a sports team having to mesh with it's rival organization. He specifically brought up the Yankees and Mets. They are both great teams but if they had to work as one, there may be some problems. Question: Is there a lot of pressure to pull off something amazing in his matches? He always tries to have the best match possible and drive himself farther. However, it takes 2 to tango. The other guy in the ring plays a great role in how well a match goes. - Shane mentioned that he is talking to producers to create an Internet show for WCW. Question: Future of the wrestling business Kurt Angle will be huge in this business. He is a thoroughbred. He also brought up guys like Edge, Christian and Albert. There are also guys such as Brock Lesnar, who is in the WWF developmental territory. Question: Booker T He put over Booker's ability and talked about how he got Steve Austin's attention on TV this week. Kevin added that he always thought Booker T was a guy who was very talented and needed a shot in the WWF. Question: Shane's theme music It is a song performed by Naughty By Nature. They thought that the "No Chance in Hell" theme was too old for him and that it was more Vince McMahon's character. Why am i using this quote to start this week's article? Well because of 2 pretty decent screwjobs. First the best of times: The WCW Invasion is officially underway thanks to Linda McMahon. Now the worst of times: Thanks to DDP, Albert is the IC champion with his win over Kane on Smackdown. I was really tempted to not have a winner this week in protest of Albert's win, but alas I decided to get this award out to some people who I don't think have ever won, and for that matter haven't been on TV much. So with that being said this week's winner (s) are The APA and the WWF Protecters Hey give the midcarders credit, they beat the hell out the WCW Tag Team Champions. I'm not really sure where this angle is going, but it's good to see people like APA, Raven, and Hardcore Holly on TV again. And anyway it sure beats giving the award to someone who helped Albert win a belt. With summer and hot weather here, it has gotten hotter outside and in the ring. WCW is invading the WWF; Prince Shane is pissing all over Emperor Vince; WCW Champion Booker T is doing a number on WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin (SCSA); Dirtbag Doophus Page is still trying to become famous as he continues haunting Taker, Sara and now Kane. All these events have made wrestling interesting again to those who have begun to yawn about the condition of Sports Entertainment. Looking at some of the goings on raises more questions than it does answers. Empress Linda, in the midst of shedding Emperor Vince and keeping half the gold in the royal treasury, appears on RAW and tells him to give The Prince a break and allow WCW some TV time. He tells her he loves her, but she can stuff her idea up her lawyers candy containers. Not buying into his "I have changed" routine, she suggests matching some of WCW's best against the WWF's at the next PPV. He concurs and the next PPV will be renamed ... get ready for this, it's going to knock thy foot coverings off ... Invasion. Imagine all the Staff and Committee meetings it took to arrive at "Invasion." These corporate geniuses (genie)? are just chock full of creativity. We poor slobs could never in a million years have come up with something that original. Now you know why some of us work for minimum wage, live in trailers, and are on The Jerry Springer Show. But I digress, Emperor Vince returns to his plush office and after a greeting hug by SCSA (You don't suppose, do you?), SCSA whispers something in his ear. Emperor Vince loves it (either the suggestion, sweet nothings or possibly a little tongue). The Question: What did SCSA whisper (do)? in Vinces ear? Booker T (What does the "T" stand for? Emperor Vince may offer a reward to anyone that can tell him) invades King of the Ring (KOR) and introduces SCSA to The Spanish Announcers table (therein lies another question: Why is always The Spanish Announcers table that gets demolished)? He shows up on RAW and SmackDown and harasses SCSA. He has SCSA looking over his shoulder and wondering. In each case he takes off like a gazelle with a hungry lion on his tail. WCW Tag Team Champions Palombo and O'Hare pull a Booker T, invading SmackDown and screwing up the WWF Tag Team Title Match between Big Daddy Dudley favorite little Boyz and Mama Hardy's two offspring. They aren't quite as fast as Booker T and get their booties royally kicked by about 25 WWF Super Stars. Question: If the entire WWF locker room can trap, catch and demolish the WCW Tag Team Champions, why can't they snare Booker T? (Before you sit down at your keyboards and start to respond, it's a rhetorical question.) For readers in Beautiful Downtown Lower Dudleyville and Arkansas, you can look up "rhetorical" in your Dictionary ... if you know what one is and where to find it. Dirtbag Doophus Page (Doophus) attacked The Taker on RAW, nailing him with a chair. He followed that by ripping a strand of Sara's hair out. Not satisfied with being under one death sentence, old Doophie attacked Kane on SmackDown during his Title defense against Albert, and cost him the Intercontinental Title. Now our boy has both Taker and Kane pissed at him. What he has done trying to become famous is about as smart as some 150 pound loud mouth punk knocking down all the bikes outside The Boot Hill Saloon, going inside and insulting the biggest, baddest dude's mother. He is going to become famous all right; the most famous corpse processed at Paul Bearer's Mortuary. Along with the question of why piss both brothers off, is the same one as Booker T: Why can the entire locker room catch him. Note to Beautiful Downtown Lower Dudleyville and Arkansas: It's also not necessary to respond. While we are talking about The Taker and Sara, another question comes up. Anyone who watched SmackDown last night heard her tirade about what has been going on, saying that she would settle things with Doophus, and ending with her calling herself the biggest "bitch" in the yard. Note to Beautiful Downtown Lower Dudleyville and Arkansas, "bitch" has multiple meanings. If and when you locate a dictionary, you can check that out also. All the time she was going off on Doophus, Taker sat quietly by. When she was finished, he made note of it and walked out ... alone. Questions: Do you suppose that sweet Sara may not be as innocent as she seems? Could she possibly have something going with Doophus and knew about his video game all along? Is Doophus so confident because he has a "friend" real close to Taker? As we all know Edge is the 2001 KOR, and designate this as The Era of Awesomeness. His brother Christian has been parading around with Edge's KOR trophy like it was his. He has also nailed Edge (accidentally, of course) several times. The remain a most entertaining duo. Question: Is Christian really jealous? Will he turn on his brother and split the team as has been long rumored? If they split, will he join Billy Bitchcakes against his brother. What is luscious Trish doing with The Big Slow? Surely his promise of a trip to Europe (England, France, China, etc.) (separate rooms) can't be that big a thing to her. There are thousands of men lined up to give her anything she wants. Why would she want to be seen with him? What did Steve Blackman do to scare her off? (or vice versa). That and many other questions need to be answered. With Torrie Wilson begging Vince for a job, will we see Trish and Torrie go at it? Thousands and thousands of men are lined up to see that. These are but a few of the questions that remain unanswered. As you can see, things have heated up.
