Jericho & Benoit to retain his world title -Official RAW preview: Madison Square Garden is the World Wrestling Federation's home away from home, and Monday night at 9/8 CT on TNN, the World's Most Famous Arena will experience the fallout of King of the Ring! Stone Cold Steve Austin survived King of the Ring with his Federation Championship intact, meaning that he has lived up to his end of the bargain with Mr. McMahon. The World Wrestling Federation Champion will no doubt be at MSG on Monday, looking for answers. Edge is your 2001 King of the Ring, and the "Era of Awesomeness" has begun! What will he have to say about his win? What will Kurt Angle, Rhyno and Christian have to say about Edge's accolade? What does Edge have planned for his year as King? We could get some answers tonight on RAW! Although Shane McMahon lost a brutal Street Fight at King of the Ring, he did chalk up another victory when WCW champion Booker T interfered in the King of the Ring main event. Shane's WCW friends have been known to show up at any time -- and given that no WCW star has EVER stepped foot inside Madison Square Garden, will RAW IS WAR be the beginning of an era for WCW? Find out at 9/8 CT on TNN! -The WWF website has reported numerous injuries but didn't state them as they are waiting for official X-ray and MRI results. After watching the PPV myself, I can tell you that Austin suffered a hand injury after trying to stop his momentum from Booker T's slam through the announce table. At the end of the match, you can see that his right hand was swollen pretty badly while he was holding the title belt. Here are other injuries one can tell by watching the PPV: *After giving Shane numerous suplexes onto concrete, Kurt Angle suffered a back injury as he was holdng it a lot after that sequence. he could have a broken tailbone. *Shane was cut numerous times with glass fragments as well as Angle. If I see a report of Shane being okay after all those suplexes, he's a better man than I. THREE TIMES he landed on his head after unsuccessful throws into what should have been easily broken glass. *Jericho hit his head hard on the mat while doing his lionsault. The chair shots before didn't help. *2001 KOTR Edge may have strained either his left knee or ankle during his finals match with Angle. He could barely put weight on his leg walking down the aisle. *Chris Benoit will be undergoing neck surgery later this week to alleviate the nerve problems that have caused his tricep to go numb. Benoit will be operated on by Dr. Lloyd Youngblood in San Antonio, the same doctor who handled Steve Austin's neck surgery, and is expected to be out of action three to six months. You can read it by clicking http://www.wwf.com/news/headlines/1062059 -There was also a feeling backstage among management that work needs to be done with Dallas Page to make his work with the Undertaker more successful. It was not lost among management that his interview segments and selling style seemed a bit outdated by today's standards and we can expect some work to be done with him to be more "2001" in how he sells and does promos. -As for Booker T having heat for "causing Austin's injury", some have said he has some heat while others are saying that it's overstated, so I can't say for sure either way. -Pretty much the whole WCW roster was backstage at teh event last night. Source// Dave Scherer, WWF.com ====================================================================== News from the rest of pro-wrestling//================================= -Nothing at this time Source// ====================================================================== Article//============================================================= Benoit to have surgery this week EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Chris Benoit battled in the main event at King of the Ring on Sunday in spite of the fact that he's scheduled for major surgery later this week. Benoit has been diagnosed with a blocked nerve in his C7 vertebra. The condition is causing weakness in his right arm, particularly his triceps. He says he has virtually no strength in his right triceps and can barely do a push-up. The Wolverine had visited two doctors before going to San Antonio, Texas, see Dr. Lloyd Youngblood, the same physician that operated on Stone Cold Steve Austin. "He told me that I needed to get this done immediately or it might be irreparable," Benoit said. So Benoit will be flying to San Antonio in the next day or two for more tests, and then surgery. It is unclear at this point whether he'll be at Madison Square Garden for Monday's RAW IS WAR. Benoit said that Youngblood will determine how he will operate based on further testing. If Youngblood needs to make an incision in the front of Benoit's neck, recovery time is estimated at six months. If he can operate from the back of the neck, recovery time is three months. The Wolverine said he began experiencing discomfort after his Tables, Ladders and Chairs Tag Team Title Match on the SmackDown! following May's Judgment Day Pay-Per-View. Benoit said he didn't realize he was injured during the match; it wasn't until after the adrenaline had worn off. Since then, he's continued to wrestle a full-time schedule. He says he's been forced to compensate for the injury by wrestling in a different style. But after he visited Youngblood, he realized that he needed to have surgery immediately. (Off-the-Wall Ideas and Predictions) Week of June 25, 2001 - by ~*Laine*~ ~"A Blue Moon Rises on the WWF"~ It was a long, grueling match, with Stone Cold Steve Austin using every single one of his three moves on his opponent. Stone Cold, fuming that he had been booked in a WWF title match so soon after King of the Ring, gave the match his all, but after twenty minutes or so of great give and take action (Stone Cold "giving" simple right hands and a couple kicks, and "taking" a barrage of varied, interesting maneuvers from his opponent... which was the standard in a match involving the Bionic Redneck), Austin was knocked to the mat, semi-conscious. His opponent went for the pin. In what appeared to be slow motion, Earl's pudgy little hand hit the canvas once... twice... then slo-o-o-o-owly headed down again... and connected! The bell rang! The crowd leapt to its feet! Lillian Garcia, shocked nearly to speechlessness, announced the results! "And the winner, and new World Wrestling Federation champion... ANYONE BESIDES STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN!" ...and the rest is up to the WWF writers!... ...Oh, hell, who am I kidding? That's just WAY too farfetched. To imagine that someone other than Stone Cold Steve Austin would actually walk away with the gold is almost like imagining that a pay- per-view could end without every single person watching grumbling in disgust. In other words, "Yeah, right." Sorry about that. After King of the Ring last night, which had its highs and its lows (how about a standing ovation for Shane and Kurt? For two men who could have comfortably gone the rest of their lives without going through two sheets of glass, those two shed an awful lot of blood... and I DO think I'm going to like the nice ring "King Edge" has to it), I'm just sick to death of seeing Jericho and Benoit get screwed out of the belt (this belt, that belt, ANY belt), not to mention sick and damn tired of seeing Stone Cold win... period. Memo to Vince: BOOOORRRRRING!!!!!!!
