Thanks for reading. naidO// ====================================================================== TOP HEADLINE//======================================================== -Chyna/ WWF Splitsville Joanie Laurer (Chyna) and the World Wrestling Federation appear imminent to part company after a contract dispute. The two sides were said to be far apart on money when it came to renewing their deal, which expires on November 30th. Negotiations had not been going well for months between the two sides, and that also explains, because of attempts to strengthen her position while the negotiations went on, why certain things that at the time didn't seem to make sense took place involving her character and the lay-out of some of her highest profile matches. At this point, the WWF does not expect Chyna to appear on television again and no decision has been made regarding the women's championship, which she still holds. Well, he went from being a billionaire down to just a "lowly" multi-millionaire. Forbes magazine just put out their annual billionaires list. In it, they also listed who didn't make the cut from last year's group. Vince McMahon was one of those who dropped from last year's list. Last August, Forbes placed his net worth at $1.1 billion. Now, they say that he is "only" worth $700 million. Forbes pinned the losses on the XFL, but obviously, the fact that the WWF's stock has dropped precipitously from last year (which true, is in part due to the XFL) is the main reason for his losses. -The first edition of "Tough Enough" did a 2.1 cable rating. The WWF and MTV will be ecstatic with that number. There are going to be so many major changes between now and the end of July that it's pretty much impossible to figure out how people will react and what's good and bad. Chyna's contract expires on November 30 and we wish her continued success. Her contributions to the Federation will be long remembered and are much appreciated. *Triple H's rehab continues to go well during "The Game's" all day therapy sessions in Birmingham, Ala. *Rikishi's rehab is underway in Pensacola, Fla., for his major shoulder surgery. *Chris Benoit saw a couple of specialists this week to determine the extent of his neck and upper arm problems. A complete diagnosis was unavailable as I was preparing this report. Chris will be able to compete at the King of the Ring. *Sheldon Benjamin's MRI of his injured elbow was not good. It found a torn ligament that attaches to the elbow and he will be out 6-8 weeks rehabbing the injury. No surgery was suggested or required. *WCW staffing needs are being addressed and many agents and referees will be retained in the next week or so. Arn Anderson, Ricky Santana and Dave Finley were at our last TV's and will be back this week, as well, to observe. I would expect that next week's TV will have more WCW content than we have seen previously, but I could be wrong. *From what I understand, the broadcaster positions for WCW are being addressed, also. *Tough Enough seems to have gotten off to a solid start. Each episode that I previewed was better than the previous one. Great job by Federation TV and our Superstars who contributed to this new MTV series. *Victoria will soon be headed to OVW and will join Tori there. Tori is looking for some ring time as she returns from shoulder surgery. Both ladies will be in Louisville in mid-July. *KOR is hard to predict from where I sit. The tournament semifinals feature four outstanding young performers who all have an opportunity to impress this Sunday. I look forward to these three matches. The Triple Threat main event features, arguably, our three hottest performers, Austin, Jericho and Benoit. It goes without saying that we will get a great effort from all three. This match has no choice but to deliver in a big way. *It will be interesting to see what sort of confrontation Taker and DDP have, which should significantly add to this event. Shane McMahon never seems to disappoint at these major events nor will he Sunday on Pay-Per-View versus Kurt Angle in a street fight. This show feels like a seven on a ten scale, going in, but I am known for being pretty conservative on these predictions. The event has been sold out for quite some time and, hopefully, the Jersey crowd will be in a hell raising mood Sunday night. My first KOR event was in 1993 when Bret Hart won and then was attacked by Jerry Lawler. That seems like a lifetime ago. My broadcast partners that night were Randy Savage and The Brain. *In the immortal words of Lloyd Bridges in the motion picture, Airplane, "I picked a bad week... to go on vacation." Cell phones can quickly become the enemy and then there is the much needed rain which "dampens" beach activities here in St. Pete. Woe is me and these damned luxury beachfront hotels! At least I'm going to be ringside at KOR Sunday and not back in Oklahoma picking up rocks in the hot Sooner State sun! Seriously, life is good and I'm thankful for my many blessings. We now know who the Undertaker's stalker is, and I hope I'm not the only one questioning this. DDP? I thought WCW was supposed to be the face group? How is WCW supposed to get over if DDP is acting like a heel? Next, we have Edge and Christian getting attacked by Rhyno and Kurt Angle. So now E&C are faces? Something just isn't right here. I'm still annoyed that with the WWF roster as big as it is, Kurt is doing double and maybe triple duty at KOTR. Then we had Stone Cold Steve Austin beating on poor Spike Dudley which I was actually going to use for my winner this week because I got a kick out of Molly being stunned. But then Smackdown happened and I had no choice but to give the award to another event... The winner is still Stone Cold Steve Austin. But it's for his role in costing Jericho and Benoit the tag team titles. The Dudleyz are now the tag champs and it's all thanks to Steve Austin. It was a great way to lead into King of the Ring, which despite all my bitching last week I am actually interested in seeing just for the run in factor.
