Thanks for reading. naidO// ====================================================================== TOP HEADLINE//======================================================== -From the WMC-TV5 website: Another Memphis pro wrestler is counted out of the World Wrestling Federation. The W-W-F fired Brian Christopher earlier this week after a drug arrest in Canada. He wrestles under the name Brian Christopher. You've seen him on Power Pro Wrestling and the WWF as "Grand Master Sexay". But not too "sexay" for an injury. Two years ago he had knee surgery after a bad wrestling move in Portland. He's part of the Lawler wrestling dynasty, learning the ropes from his father, Jerry 'the King' Lawler, pile driving and smacking his way through the ring. And like his father, Christopher, is out of the World Wrestling Federation. The WWF's web site says Christopher's contract was terminated on Monday after his arrest on illegal drug possession charges after crossing the Canadian border. He was on his way to Calgary to wrestle for the WWF. Lawler told me his son had muscle building drugs that are legal in the U.S. but not in Canada and the judge decided to quote "give Christopher a break" and dismissed the charges. Earlier this year the WWF released Lawler from his contract because they fired his wife Stacy because she was "too difficult to work with." Lawler walked out. As far as the WWF, it looks like Lawler and Christopher got hooked up in a loser leaves town match. We talked with spokesperson for the WWF, Gary Davis, who says it doesn't make any difference if the charges are dropped against Brian Christopher, he won't be asked back. Davis says the company takes breaking the law seriously. This is the same rating as last week. -The weekend ratings are in and it was more of the same for the WWF. *Livewire did a 0.9 rating with a 3.1 share. *Superstars did a 0.9 rating with a 2.9 share. *Heat did a 1.1 rating with a 2.4 share. *Heat's replay did a 0.7 rating with a 1.6 share. -There is an interview from the Milwaukee Paper with Mick Foley is short but funny. Booker T defeated Scott Steiner to win the WCW World Title on the last NITRO, and was considered a priority for the new WCW talent roster. -Dave Meltzer mentions that Diamond Dallas Page is working on getting out of his Time Warner contract. This follows the very positive meetings Page had with Vince McMahon last week. -Meltzer also notes that Buff Bagwell, whose contract has already expired or will do so on Friday, is almost certain to sign to be in the new WCW, as the general consensus is that they need major star power for the relaunch. More than 4,000 Canadians have received the honor since it's inception in 1967. Source// slam wrestling ====================================================================== Article//============================================================= WWF Tried to get WCW on TBS again A cable industry source familiar with the situation has told 1Wrestling.com that WWFE President and COO Stu Snyder has had discussions with Turner Network Television President Brad Siegel about the possibility of airing the soon to be relaunched WCW on TBS. The source tells 1Wrestling.com that Siegel initially appeared ready to agree to return WCW programming to TBS, but after running the idea past Turner legal advisors was forced to decline Snyder's request. The concern among Turner legal staff was the possibility of lawsuits from Fusient Media and other parties who had been interested in purchasing WCW but were unable to do so once TNT and TBS announced the cancellation of Nitro and Thunder. Snyder and Siegel are former associates from the days when Snyder worked for Turner, and sources say Siegel had offered Snyder the job of WCW President last year before Snyder accepted a similar position with the WWF. At the press conference to announce the purchase of WCW by WWFE, Snyder acknowledged that it would not have been possible to complete the transaction if WCW programming was still tied to TNT and TBS. Our cable industry source tells us that reports that WCW programming was cancelled because new Turner Broadcasting CEO Jamie Kellner didn't like the demographics are not true. Our source tells us Kellner acted after Siegel informed him that the cancellation was necessary in order to allow the sale of WCW to move forward. Because of the series of events that led to the WWF purchase of WCW, our source tells us that Turner legal advisors would not allow Siegel to follow through on Snyder's request for a time slot on TBS.
