Smackdown was a TREMENDOUS SHOW...and I'm not talking storylines. The wrestling on the program was TOP NOTCH! The six man w/ the Radicals/Eddy and the Hardyz, Jericho/Edge. What amazing stuff. Vile has returned with his latest thoughts. There's also some snippets from two time #1 bestseller Mick Foley from a media conference that was held yesterday. ENJOY! Thanks for reading. naidO// ====================================================================== TOP HEADLINE//======================================================== -Bloomberg TV had an interview with Linda McMahon this morning in which they discussed the closing of the XFL, and the effect it had financially and mentally on the company. However the most interesting thing Linda mentioned was that WWF had purchased WCW and that it was going to be launched in the next 2-3 weeks.... Though Linda McMahon said that WCW would re-start in 2-3 weeks in an interview with Bloomberg TV, major sources and insiders believe that it may not re-launch until 2 months latest. Some insiders have found out that they still haven't got the TV timeslot. Moreover, the roster too hasn't been finalized, and no one on the current roster has been contacted. 2-3 weeks sounds unrealistic, unless the WWF is keeping a lot of secrets. We will just have to wait and see. Source// UltimoWrestling ====================================================================== News from the WWF//=================================================== -Smackdown did a 4.9 overnight broadcast rating, with a 7.0 share, according to Nielsen Media Research. That is slightly higher than it has done recently. This is pretty good news considering they were up against the season finale of Friends which did a 21.8 overnight rating from 8 to 9. -There is currently an article on CBS Marketwatch on the WWF, which discusses television and PPV expansion in the UK and another European nation. To read the article, click http://www.marketwatch.com/news/yhoo/story.asp? source=blq/yhoo&siteid=yhoo&dist=yhoo&guid=%7BC203A79A%2D86C5%2D4BC6% 2D8A02%2D7305C7ED3BE7%7D -Apparently, Singapore Broadcasting Authority have stopped WWF coverage in Singapore due to sexual and abusive content in the WWF product. Sources report that this is situation in most countries in Asia. To read an article on this, click http://news.a1wrestling.com/story.php3?storyid=2001/5/17/1093 -The most recent joint venture between the WWF and MTV is in a television series, as many of you might already know entitled WWF Tough Enough. The program is being dubbed as a variation on the CBS hit show Survivor. The format will be 13 pro wrestler wanna-bes consisting of five women and eight men, placed in a house for 13 weeks to battle it out for the grand prize being WWF contracts. At the conclusion of the programming only one man and one woman will be selected by the WWF. WWF Tough Enough is scheduled to air on June 21. In other TV related news, the UPN has released its Fall schedule. Some new programming was hinted upon, one being another reality program called Manhunt, co-created by the WWF's own Vince McMahon and 7 Days executive producer Christopher Crowe. The premise consists of 13 contestants in an outdoor backdrop while being stalked by a group of hunters. -Here's the cable TV preview for WWF Raw Is War this Monday: *9PM: Results and repercussions from "Judgment Day" *10PM: News from the WCW -Slam! Wrestling is reporting that WCW wrestlers may appear on Raw. However, this is just a rumor. It could also be a ruse to boost Raw's sagging ratings. -Another noteworthy newsbit stemming from this Bloomberg interview was Linda stating the interest of the WWFE to move into movie production. Furthermore, Linda explains that the movies will in most likelihood not be wrestling related and may or may not star WWF superstars. She also draws a parallel to this venture with the recent success of the Mummy II and despite the Rock's small role, his presence was definitely a "driving factor" to the film's box office success in turn showing the drawing power of the WWF's superstars. Partial video snippets and transcripts are located on http://www.Bloomberg.com -Jamie Morris of the WWF writing team has left the company. The exact reason for his leaving is unknown with some saying he was fired, other saying he resigned... A new guy named Alex is now working on the team. The position of TV writer for the WWF often leads to burnout, because the job is extremely demanding and often requires long periods of intense interaction with Vince McMahon, which would drive most men crazy... -In case you missed it, UPN released their fall schedule and Smackdown is listed for airing two hours. That doesn't mean that the show will stay two hours, since TV schedules are always written in pencil, but it will at least start the fall season like that. -A reminder that Jericho will be on Byte This today. AOL Time Warner has recorded a "restructuring liability" of that much during the first quarter for the activities following the closing of their merger this past January. Of that 965, $565 million were from "work force reductions and employee termination benefits." In a Reuters article, it reported that the new company was planning to consolidate certain operations and "exit other under-performing operations" and specifically named World Championship Wrestling as one of the money losers they were getting rid of. Shares of AOL Time Warner closed at $53.04, off a 52-week high of 63.19, up from a year low of $31.75. -A lot of companies that partnered up with the XFL, such as Topps trading cards, suddenly find themselves holding onto worthless inventory. Also, all of the merchandise at the official XFL site is marked down, as is to be expected. Source// ultimowrestling, 1wrestling ====================================================================== Article//============================================================= Media conference with Mick Foley Here are some highlights from a conference call that Mick Foley had today with some members of the media, concerning his new book "Foley is Good", and the WWF. -Foley said he doesn't understand why women's magazines don't help publicize his book. He says women's magazines say that women don't think he'll relate to him because of his looks. -Regarding whether he'd be interested in writing for the WWF TV show, Foley said "it's a given I could do it," and he said Vince has asked him, but he said he doesn't think he could work on deadline. He said he doesn't want the stress now that he's not in the ring. -Foley said at one point it was on the books to come back for a match at WrestleMania this year, but he didn't think it was the right time. He said he wouldn't think he was backing down on his word if he wrestled one more match since it's now been 60 weeks since he wrestled. He said it's difficult to be a full-time character and not ever wrestle. He said he'd need a lot of time to get into shape to wrestle Triple H or Steve Austin, as opposed to a gimmick match with Vince McMahon. -He said a New York Times book reviewer came to his house and a review is coming out Friday. He said he is told that will lead to a number of other reviews coming out since the Times sets the tone for which books get reviewed. -Foley said in his first six years wrestling he earned a grand total of $30,000. He said the book helped establish with kids that he didn't leap off a roof and instantly achieve fame. He said a certain percentage of the public is stupid and some kids risk permanent paralysis in their backyard rings as their parents cheer on. -Foley said the WWF buying WCW is better than WCW dying, but he said the ideal scenario was a few years ago when both promotions were thriving. -Foley said although he hasn't been around the dressing room a lot, he knows there is some frustration among second-tier performers that they can't break through the glass ceiling, but he says they are earning more in their spot than top guys were five years ago. He said overall it's a happy dressing room. He concluded there are only so many matches you can have among the top four guys. He said he think it would be an excellent decision to move more second tier players into the top mix. -Foley said it's been frustrating for him to see WWF programs get so serious and lose the humor that once was a big part of the writing. Source// PWTorch.com ====================================================================== Comment//============================================================= Vile Thoughts - By The Vile "Yawn." That's the conclusion I've come to after seeing this week's televised WWF action which all leads up to Son of Backlash...er...Judgement Day on Sunday. I don't think I've ever seen a more less anticipated WWF PPV, at least not since the stale times from 1995-1997. First off, let's start with that epic match with Test, Rhyno, and the Big Blow. Rhyno? Wait a minute, I thought this was supposed to be a grudge-type matchup between Test and Big Blow. It was until the WWF suits found out the care factor was 0.0. With the addition of Rhyno it has jumped up to a staggering 0.1. Do us a favor, and make this forgettable natch the first of the night. How about that big elimination type match pitting all the top tag teams against each other. The prize, a shot at HHH and Puss 3:16. In other words, we couldn't come up with anything else for these guys to do, so we're gonna lump 'em all together in one useless match. What a slap to guys like the Hardys, Edge&Christian, and the Dudley's. Because the "Two Man Buttsuckers" have to own every title, we get crap like this. How about William Regal vs. Rikishi in a "5 star" matchup? Considering "The Ass With Legs" has a bad wing, this match will live down to it's advance billing. And another face bites the dust. The one match that could have been interesting has also turned out to be the most blatently set up screw job in WWF history. In wrestling history, it ranks up there with Ric Flair's "face" turn in 1995. What am I talking about, you ask? Chyna vs. Lita. This has been one of the most badly acted out angles in recent memory, from Chyna to Lita to The Hardys to Guerrero. How dumb are they trying to make Lita and the Hardy's look? When all is said and done, Chyna and Latino Cheech will be back together, and my only question is: Does Lita get destroyed, or will they be merciful, and just have her lose on a screwjob ending? How far have the heroes fallen? Angle vs. Benoit II. No problem, until you think about what they're fighting over: Angle's Olympic medals. How worthless is this? You can add any stipulations you want, just keep this is mind: How can you have an Olympic hero with no medals? Angle wins the match. However, what really disturbs me is what happened on Smackdown. Uh, Vince, I don't care what you're paying me; it's not enough to go rooting around through Benoit's nutt- sack, looking for the medals. And why is Benoit so fond of keeping them there in the first place. Maybe I need to ask Monroe from "Too Close For Comfort" about that one. HHH vs. Kane in a chain match. I will be brief on this one. HHH is "The Game", he is the best heel in the company. There is no way he loses this match to "The Big Red Retard." And lastly, in the main event, Puss 3:16 takes on the Biker formerly known as the Undertaker. Puss 3:16 is one of the worst heels to come down the pike in a while, his expolits ranking up there with the Honky Tonk Man. The ultimate indignity: being saved by the Princess last week on Raw in his match vs. Rikishi. This angle has gotten stale already. Don't believe me? Chew on this: The WWF has turned Rikishi good again (Which actually was a good idea; to be a heel, you have to be clever, sneaky, intelligent. Rikishi just doesn't fit) They have talked about bringing Foley back, they're thinking about turning HHH face (Which would be the worst mistake ever made), and they're talking about the Biker winning the gold. Just when does Rock get back from that film? Gee, that long, huh? With all the crap that went down this week with the phony phone calls, look for the Biker to eke this one out. Now before you 'Taker fans rejoice, I have a bad feeling that this is one of those "Win the belt, drop it a few days later" scenario. That's because like it or not, we're stuck with Puss 3:16 for a while. Anyway, now that I've laid it out for you, enjoy the PPV. I mean, if you miss it, there's another one, what 28 days later? ====================================================================== Remember...=========================================================== -Remember that if you've missed any TV Shows, PPV's or more?
