According to sources, there may not be a re-launch date at all, but that "WCW" will simply be worked into existing programming much like the NWO angle in WCW a few years ago. According to latest rumors, the re-launch date may even be shifted back to September. The only reason for this delay is that the television deal is not yet finlaized. Source// Ultimo ====================================================================== News from the WWF//=================================================== -5/3 Smackdown had a 4.4 overnight rating and a 6 share. The final rating should be somewhere between the mid and upper 3.0's. The final episode of Survivor scored a 21.3 rating. -Rock on TV: *On Friday on NBC, The Rock will be on 'The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn'. *On Saturday, The Rock will be on FOX's MADtv. -The word right from the Rock himself in USA Today is "I can honestly say I'll never leave the WWF. I will always have ties there." -It is expected that with Tajiri and Jerry Lynn signing with the WWF, the Lightheavyweight division would receive a boost. There are also talks to bring in Super Crazy to make him one of the focal points of the division, although WWF hasn't talked business with Crazy yet. -Don't look for HBK Shawn Michaels to return soon to WWF television. Apparently, the WWF and Michaels haven't worked out the differences yet, and there are no plans for a role for Michaels. -Bobby Eaton, the developmental instructor in Memphis for the WWF was released last week. According to sources, the WWF wasn't happy with his work. He was given eight weeks of severance pay by the WWF. From there, sources report that Jim Cornette went to bat for his old friend with the WWF office, suggesting that he be allowed to come and work in Ohio Valley Wrestling during the eight weeks that his severance would have covered. After that point, it is hoped by some that Eaton's status would be reevaluated and he could possibly be rehired. -The tentative buyrate for WWF WrestleMania X-Seven is 2.15 which translates into 900,000 buys which passes the old record of 824,000 buys which was for last year's WrestleMania. -The WWF is trying to get away from running split-crew house shows. Over the past few months they have run several split-crew house shows especially on Sundays, and average attendance and revenue showed that it was not profitable to run separate shows. The only split-crew house show listed in the current schedule is in Hampton and Roanoke, Virginia for June 10. -WWF Byte This! will be on this afternoon from 3-4 p.m. At this time no guests are scheduled besides the regulars Droz and Tazz. -Recently, Road Dogg came out and said that HHH played a big role in him being released from the WWF. Though Road Dogg and HHH were friends back during the D-X days, their relationship reportedly deteriorated by the time Road Dogg was released. According to sources, HHH has been involved in backstage heat with a lot of former as well as current wrestlers. -Some WWF officials feel that Chris Jericho may never make it to the main event in the WWF. Though Jericho has received a fair push, he is still not in the main event scene. Jericho still has a reputation of being stiff in the ring. -Contrary to recent rumors, Steve Austin will not be turning face in the near future. Apparently, the WWF is very happy with how the heel turn has shaped, and they won't like to ruin it. -Though there have been rumors of HHH turning face, sources believe that it would be a bad idea to do that before The Rock's return. Currently, Steve Austin and HHH are on top as heels, and there are enough faces (like The Undertaker, Kane, Hardys, Jericho, Benoit etc.) to compete with them. -Sources say that Scotty 2 Hotty is fit and ready to return. However, no one is sure that Scotty would team with his partner Brian Christopher or not. In recent times, Christopher and Steve Blackman have tagged on more than one occasions. -The WWF Backlash PPV, in Chicago drew a sell out crowd of 14,751. The gate was $831,510 with $143,908 in merchandise sales. -So far, the matches for this weekend's Insurrextion PPV in Britain are: *Steve Austin versus The Undertaker (WWF World Heavyweight Title Match). *Triple H versus Kane (WWF Intercontinental Title Match). *William Regal versus Chris Benoit (Queen's Cup Match). *Lita versus Trish versus Molly versus Ivory versus Jacqueline (WWF Women's World Heavyweight Title Match). *Rhyno versus Grandmaster Sexay. Source// UltimoWrestling, PWTorch.com ====================================================================== News from WCW//======================================================= -Disco and Konnan have accepted a buyout from their AOL Time Warner contract. As for the time being, both of them are free agents. -The WWF hasn't yet decided who the announcers for the new WCW will be. Joey Styles will probably receive a tryout. Joel Gertner and Cyrus won't have a shot. Apart from Styles, only Shane Douglas' name has been seriusly discussed. However, Douglas' heat with Paul Heyman won't help. -Mike Sanders and Evan Karagias are looking for indie dates before WWF re-starts the WCW division. The suit was filed against Douglas by Paul Maloney of Pottstown, Pa. following the July 12, 1997 ECW show at the Allentown Agricultural Hall. Maloney alleged that Douglas spit on Maloney's 15-year-old daughter. Maloney claims that when he asked Douglas why he spit on the girl, Douglas "spit again at her." Maloney claimed that he reacted out of anger and spit on Douglas. At that point, Maloney claims that Douglas climbed up a railing, jumped into a crowd of seated spectators, and attacked him. I have to admit that Backlash was a damn solid card. All but one of the matches were enjoyable, and there were some things I just couldn't help but notice.... The Duchess of Idiotsberry match was without a doubt, the worst match I have ever seen. I know that's a strong statement, but it was downright awful. I will give Steve Regal credit for one thing; (I know he's William, but he'll always be Steve to me) he is a tremendous heel. I say that because at the current time, none of the other heels in the WWF have the ability to just totally pi** me off. Anyone who ever questions Shane-O-Mac's grapefruits anymore is just an idiot. This is why Vince Russo was never taken seriously. How many "real" wrestlers would have tried a leap like that? My God; I had visions of Evel Knievel. Shane-O, YOU ARE THE MAN!! I found it touching that the Undertaker was so concerned about the condition of Kane's arm when they wrestled Stone Cold and HHH. Isn't this the same man that in the not too distant past tried to drain SC's bodily fluids out of him, and commit Kane to an institiution? You have to love the soap opera aspect of wrestling, where selective memory is the key. Great to see Jerry Lynn make his debut on Sunday night. He will add some athleticism to the light heavyweight ranks. Now lets make sure the title doesn't get forgotten, like when it was held by the man of 1000 bad gimmicks. I don't know what Kurt Angle's crying about. Can't he just get some more of those chocolate covered medals at the nearest Wal-Mart? Interesting to see Trish get a shot at Chyna on Raw. That was kind of like, oh, I don't know... Custer getting a shot at the indians at Little Big Horn. But I did like one idea the 9th Wonder had: Chyna vs. Lita in a spanking match. Sign me up as special guest ref. And lastly, an irrational rant. When this whole SC/HHH Vince thing came down, I was like "Oh, what the hell, it could be interesting." Now that I've seen it, I can say that I absolutely hate what they've done with Stone Cold. Now hear me out. When SC was a heel the first time around, it was so different. Yeah, he'd break the rules, pretty much like he does now, but he did it ON HIS OWN. Now it seems like he's become the world's biggest puss. He can't finish a match on his own; he has to be saved by Mr. McMahon or HHH. And the one thing that totally turned me on this whole thing: When Vince stood in the ring and said "Stone Cold did nothing more than what each and every one of you do: Kiss up to the boss." That crushed what made Stone Cold so great; that he did things his way. Like he said, he never asked to be cheered. But he also never kowtowed to the system. Now he's no different than any other heel character. Too bad. I'd like to know what you faithful readers think about the new Stone Cold. Email me at vile316@yahoo.com, and let me know. See you next week. ====================================================================== Remember...=========================================================== -Remember that if you've missed any TV Shows, PPV's or more?
