The Rock -- who will appear Thursday morning on NBC's "The Today Show" -- was featured prominently in the May edition of Premiere, "The Interactive Movie Magazine." Julie Hoffman has been hired as the new Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer and Roger Marment has been hired as the new Executive Vice President of International Business Development. **A more in depth ratings report for the WWF: For the second consecutive week, Raw did a 5.1 rating (with this week's show doing a 7.8 share - 4,099,000 households). The show did hours of 4.9 and 5.3 to get to the 5.1. The quarter hours were: Hour 1: 4.3, 4.8, 4.9 and 5.4 Hour 2: 5.5, 5.4, 5.1 and 5.0. The overrun did a 5.6. The XFL championship game on NBC, which will be their last telecast of the fledgling league, did a 2.1 broadcast rating with a 4.1 share. In WWF weekend ratings, Livewire scored a 1.1 cable rating with a 3.4 share while Superstars also did a 1.1 cable rating with a 3.2 share. In an interesting number, the Sunday Night Heat Replay did almost as well as the primary broadcast. The first showing did a 1.7 cable rating with a 3.1 share. The replay did a 1.2 rating with a 2.5 share. I still the think that the WWF could do a monster number for the Heat replay if they did a PPV recap show on PPV nights, like this weekend. They have the satellite time and equipment in place to do it. They should start doing it. (Cred: ultimowrestling) __________________ [In other news...] **The Blue Meanie has updated his official website with his latest commentary, explaining his reasons for keeping a low profile lately, his thoughts on ECW, his upcoming shows, his appearance on the new Zakk Wylde CD, and more. You can check it out at www.thebluemeanie.com **The Associated Press is reporting that Douglas Harrington, the stepfather who let his stepson jump from 18 feet onto a burning table during a backyard wrestling match, has been convicted of child endangerment for his part in the stunt. The prosecutors showed a video that proved Harrington knew about the actions of his 16 year old stepson Andrew Tausch beforehand and did nothing to prevent him from doing the spot. Tausch suffered burns over 20 percent of his body when his clothes caught on fire after he went through the table. Harrington will be sentenced in four to six weeks for his role in the stunt. (Cred: 1wrestling) ______________________________________________________________________ [Article] WCW relaunch in jeopardy with each passing day? Late Tuesday, a report by Bob Ryder of 1wrestling.com said the WWF's plan to operate WCW as a separate company may be in jeopardy. Ryder quoted a source as saying "They bit off more than they can chew. I think they may be rethinking things." Further evidence of a troubled relaunch comes after the tentative start date for WCW has been pushed back three times. Later today, Wade Keller of the Pro Wrestling Torch came out with news from a top WWF insider. The source says nothing has been discussed about scrapping the WCW relaunch, and everything is in "go" status at this time. However, the source did say if nothing goes right in the next month or two, there is a possibility plans could be cancelled. If the WWF were to nip plans of running WCW as a completely different entity, leftover talent could be used in the WWF. ______________________________________________________________________ [Review] Mene Gene talks "Mean" Gene Okerlund once again called in to the Lytle & Lamb radio morning program here in Peoria on WWCT Rock 106. Gene said he is still being paid by Time Warner. Mean Gene said that The Rock would be profiled on NBC Dateline May 6th. Gene said that Rock was being paid a cool 5.5 million dollars EACH movie for his roles in "The Mummy Returns" and "The Scorpion King". Gene said that Billy Kidman and Torrie Wilson soon would be signing contracts with either the WWF or a new federation. Gene said that he himself had signed a confidentiality agreement that prevented him from saying much about the new fed. However he did say that it was a strong possibility that the new fed would be picked up by USA Network. Gene talked about the pushback of WCW by the WWF and attributed most of it to the WWF's involvement with the XFL. Gene said that the debut of the new WCW could be pushed back another month to a month and a half, possibly premiering in July. Gene stated that Shane Douglas has a lot of backstage heat with the WWF and would definitely NOT be signing with them. Gene and the guys from the show discuss Jeff Jarrett and the conditions surrounding his departure from the WWF. Gene reported that WrestleMania X-7 was the #2 all time grossing event for the WWF, with WM4 being #1 and WM3 being #3. Gene once again mentioned Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart and their involvement with Universal Studios. Gene said that in Germany they are showing reruns of mid-90's WCW shows. Gene and the guys talked about the AWA in its glory days and AWA superstars wrestling at the Chase Hotel in St. Louis. Gene mentioned the late Johnny Valentine and his contributions to professional wrestling. Gene said that Terry Funk is currently wrestling in Puerto Rico and Germany but could be returning to wrestle in the United States soon. Gene puts over the local Mean Gene's hamburger joint. Gene said that next week he would have a story about the Women Of Wrestling.
