Simply put, Triple H is incensed! Tonight on RAW -- at 9/8 CT on TNN -- the Game gets his rematch against Jeff Hardy for the Intercontinental Championship. Triple H has vowed that he will recapture his title, and he will punish Jeff for taking the title from him. Will the Game make good on his promise? Find out tonight on TNN! All the key players are expected to be in the house tonight at the Thompson/Boiling Assemble Center in Knoxville, Tenn., and with Backlash quickly approaching on Pay-Per-View, there is no doubt that tensions will be running high! ______________________________________________________________________ [News from The WWF] **Jim Ross will be having numerous meetings this week in Atlanta with talent and potential employees for the new WCW. Ross, over the next few weeks, is also scheduled for trips to other parts of the country to talk with other potential employees. **We could be soon seeing a fully-fledged teaming of Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho to counter the Austin - Triple H partnership. Benoit targeting Austin and Jericho feuding with Triple H again. **Wrestlers say that management has gone out of its way to show Brian Christopher that he is on solid ground despite his father's recent termination. **The WWF decided to let Debra go in a different direction for the Stone Cold Steve Austin heel turn storyline. She was supposed to be on Austin's side rather than Jim Ross's. (Cred: wwf.com, ultimowrestling) _______________ [News from WCW] **Contrary to what you may have heard, Billy Kidman's contract was NOT purchased by WWF. Kidman, however, will be offered a WWF deal when he gets out of his Time Warner deal. **Some WWF mid-card wrestlers and developmental talent from Memphis may soon find a new home in WCW. With only two dozen superstars signed for the company and no major talent under contract yet, the additional 'back up' will be coming from both the WWF and Memphis. Although the option is not for WCW to be a 'B-type' federation to the WWF, giving younger - and un-used in the WWF - stars the experience to wrestle more in front of TV cameras in front of people may be a good start. (Cred: website mentioned) ______________________________________________________________________ [Column] Rounding The Squared Circle - By Sam Jerry "WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY (OR THREE WEEKS) MAKES" OR "EMPEROR MCMAHON GIVES UNCLE TED THE FINGER" For those of you who read my drivel regularly (all three of you) and have been wondering where I have been, I want to put all the rumors to rest that I was working on the WWF/WCW merger. In fact, I was out of the country when the news broke. Could it be a coincidence that it took me being on the other side of the planet for the biggest story in years (other than the return of Doink The Clown) to break? Did Emperor McMahon know my travel plans? One has to wonder. You may recall several months ago when it appeared that WCW was up for sale that I wrote a column saying that when the dust had settled, Emperor McMahon was going to be the one to buy WCW. You might also remember that on several occasions I said that the only other way to save WCW was for them to bring in a man with a vision (Paul Heyman) to run it. Now it looks like they have both: McMahon owns WCW and Paul E. is there if needed. I have read several Columns and Letters to the Editors expressing concern that with McMahon in control of both The WWF and WCW, along with the demise of ECW, that the lack of competition will cause a drop in the quality of what we have grown accustomed to. I disagree with that viewpoint. I think we will see a renewed interest in WCW with Prince Shane "in charge." We all know that The Emperor will be calling the shots. It is in the best interest of The WWF to make WCW "watchable" once again. With two "separate" Feds running, we can expect some movement of personnel between the two, as well as some Inter-Federation Matches. Think of the Fantasy Booking we have all done pitting the stars of WCW v. those of The WWF. Most of us are familiar with many of the reasons behind WCW's demise. These include: refusing to job when asked to, personal egos being put before the good of the company, and guaranteed contracts. While many of WCW's big names will not be part of the new company, many of WCW's best young ones are. If people like $oldberg are willing to renegotiate their contracts, we could expect them to be picked up and we could see dream matches like $oldberg v. Stone Cold Steve Austin. Surprising among those picked up was Sean Stasiak, who you may recall was released from The WWF because of his over active tape recorder. There is talk of Good Old Eric (GOE) and Old Baldy putting together a new Federation, with The FOX Network being mentioned as a possible TV Network. If this happens, we the fans win. The new Fed most likely would utilize some of talent The WWF declined to pick up. Using the NWO angle, GOE had a great run as head of WCW. He saw the concept in Japan, brought it here, and made WCW the preeminent Federation for a while. However, he ran it into the ground and the rest is history. Finally, there are words that Uncle Ted (aka Billionaire Ted) is not a happy camper over the sale of WCW. You may recall that WCW was near- and-dear to his heart. With the AOL/Time Warner merger, he was left with little say in the company and reportedly was never consulted about the sale. There aren't too many people who he would have liked to see own WCW less than Emperor McMahon. By buying WCW, McMahon gave Uncle Ted the ultimate one finger salute. First Jane, now Vince. The new Millennium hasn't been very kind to old Ted.
