The library is the most significant asset listed in the bankruptcy filing, with an estimated value of $500,000.00. The problem that may arise in court will be whether ECW actually owns the footage. The production company that produced and edited the shows is believed to have the entire film library in their control. The company is owed a significant amount of money by ECW and may argue in bankruptcy court that because they have control of the library that the footage was security against the debt. There's a GREAT analysis of the whole proceedings over at SLAM! According to sources, Heyman suggested turning Austin heel. Heyman also had a part in suggesting Monday's angle between Austin and Lita, in which Austin gave a good beating to Lita. Another change that Heyman has brought about is the involvement of more technical wrestlers in main events. Heyman too has suggested pushing Jericho and Benoit to the main event status. Pushing the Hardys to the main event, on Monday's Raw and Thursday's Smackdown too was suggested by Heyman. **Apparently, WWF officials are very happy with how Steve Austin's heel turn has shaped. Austin did a great job putting over himself as a heel in his angles with Jim Ross and Lita. Although fans are still not accepting Austin as a heel and cheering him as a face, officials believe Austin would solidify his place as a number one heel in the industry. **To read an interview conducted by the WrestlingObserver with Paul "Big Show" Wight, click http://www.wrestlingobserver.com/news/interviews/default.asp?aID=2249 **There are ads for various jobs in the WWF at http://www.hotjobs.com/cgi-bin/company-job-list?G_GID=22577. His professionalism in his work, and the fan support he gets are reasons for consideration. DDP hasn't yet decided about his future, but he may accept the Turner buyout, if the WWF offers him something reasonable. **Speaking of DDP, in his latest message to members of his fan club, the Union of Diamond Cutters, Diamond Dallas Page said that he is "excited about what's to come" with the new WCW, and that "no matter what happens, it will be the best thing that ever happened to me." He also talked about his promo on the last Nitro. He originally planned on ending it by saying "It's been a great journey…you loved me, you hated me, but you can bet the farm that I'm not going to forget you." However, after hearing Shane McMahon's speech backstage that night, he changed it and said that "This will elevate me to another level." Obviously, Diamond Dallas Page is looking forward to the new WCW, under the ownership of the WWF. http://www.ddpbang.com/ **TNT's movies the past two weeks in place of Nitro drew 1.7 and 1.2 ratings. A TNT spokesman said the movies were much more profitable to air than the money-losing wrestling show. Click to read it, http://www.usatoday.com/life/enter/tv/2001-04-12-usa.htm **There's an article today on Canada.com talking about Canadian Broadcast Standards Council finding faults on TSN's censorship of WWF programming. Here's the top lines of the article : - The council (Canadian Broadcast Standards Council) found fault with TSN's failure to provide adequate on-air viewer advisories on the Raw is War telecasts content. - As a council member, TSN is obliged within the next few days to air a prime-time statement that the channel had violated the code. - It's the first violation complaint in seven years of WWF shows but that the council's feedback is considered useful and valued. It seems certain viewers made complaints on certain episodes of RAW IS WAR. The examples they gave where "Mae Young that gave birth to a hand" and the episodes where the are demeaning to women ("a filthy, dirty, disgusting, brutal, skanky, bottom-feeding trashbag ho."). There are two channels, one of which has the original commentary for mainly 70s and early 80s matches. The other has updated commentary from myself and Jim Cornette. I will say, being there, that Cornette was tremendous. His knowledge of wrestling in that era is unparalleled. The matches were from the Memphis circuit mainly, but some San Antonio, Indianapolis and I think Toronto stuff was on there as well. Lots of Jerry Lawler, Randy Savage, Rick Rude. **Randy Hales, the owner of Power Pro Wrestling, yesterday acknowledged that tomorrow's PPW TV show will be the last on the WMC- TV network. The reason the show has been cancelled is due to financial reasons, as it actually cost more to run the show than expected, and therefore no profits were made on advertising. Hales along with PPW's Cory Maclin, Jerry Lawler, Dave Brown and Jimmy Hart will attempt to keep the promotion alive. The promotion plans to sell shares starting early next year to fund an expansion of the promotion. New Japan spokesman Kou Numatani, confirming the story which ran in the the Nihon Keizai newspaper, was quoted as saying, "it was still too early to determine what percentage of the company would go public or the amount of money the sale would raise." Numatani did mention the deal would allow New Japan to hire more performers as well as other endeavors. The promotion has already been looking for real estate in the Tokyo area to open a New Japan-themed restaurant for nearly a year. At the end of New Japan's fiscal year on March 31st, New Japan had tripled its revenue from the previous year with revenue being 3.7 billion yen and profits (before taxes) standing at 180 million yen ($1.5 Million US). The report notes there are 32 wrestlers on New Japan s roster, and they enjoyed a combined attendance of 585, 000 fans last year. ______________________________________________________________________ [Parting Chair Shot] Remember, tell your friends about nWN - naidO's Wrestling News today! **Missed any TV Shows?
