It is believed they will populate the front office before the wrestling roster. They are really waiting for Time Warner to negotiate the buy-outs of the big name contracts, before the WWF can even begin to negociate with the big name talent. Let's just say Time Warner is taking its time. As of two days ago, none of the WCW major stars have received any word from Time Warner about terms of the buy-outs. In a related note, WWF.com has put up a new poll as to what the new Saturday night WCW show should be entitled. There are six possible names listed, and they are: NOTE: DON'T GO IF YOU DON'T WANT SMACKDOWN SPOILED FOR YOU!! -WCW Saturday Night Nitro -WCW Hot Box -WCW Uprising -WCW Late Night Appetite -WCW Hard-On Saturday Night -WCW Primal Urge ______________________________________________________________________ [News from The WWF] **Here are the ratings for Raw Is War aired on April 9, 2001: Hour One = 5.1 Hour Two = 5.7 Total = 5.4 Note: The highest rated segment was the Linda McMahon interview at 6.2. The HHH & Austin & Stephanie vs. Hardys & Lita main event did a 6.0. Rating dropped consistently in the second hour which is not the best sign to the general public, until the main event pick-up. We don't have the weekend TNN ratings at this point. **The Rock will be appearing at the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner on April 28. **The Hardy Boyz will be appearing this Friday as guests on Byte This!. The show airs at 4 p.m. ET. **Word has it that The Big Bossman might return soon to WWF TV to become William Regal's bodyguard. However, apparently consideration has been given to bring in Dave Taylor in that same role, but The Big Bossman looks like the more logical choice. **In a move that shows the WWF may be starting to get worried about Smackdown!'s ratings, the WWF has revealed the biggest surprise on this Thursday's broadcast on their official Web site today. Many thought that the replaying of the entire Austin-Ross altercation on this week's edition of Raw was also a sign that the company is stressed about Smackdown!'s viewership. (Cred: WrestlingObserver, UltimoWrestling, 1Wrestling, LWN) _______________ [News from WCW] **E! will be airing The Women of WCW special this Saturday at 3 p.m. This is interesting considering neither exist at the moment. **Dave Meltzer reports that the WWF has picked up Reno for the new promotion, but it is not known for sure. **There has been talk that the WWF will sign David Flair to a developmental deal if he would like to sign. **1Wrestling reports that FOX and FX had conflicting opinions on whether FX should add a wrestling program to their schedule. After the announcement by Turner Broadcasting that NITRO and Thunder were being cancelled, the Fusient Media Ventures investor group met with Fox executives in an effort to put together a last minute deal that could save the Fusient deal. FX executives wanted wrestling on their network, but were overruled by executives from their parent company. The decision by Fox not to air wrestling led to Fusient announcing that they were ending their efforts to purchase WCW. "The timing just wasn't right," a source familiar with the discussions told us. "With a soft ad market, and with wrestling already a tough sell to advertisers, Fox just wasn't interested in doing anything at the present time," the source added. "The negative comments made by Turner Broadcasting when they announced the cancellations didn't help the situation," the source continued. **Word has it that Randy Savage made a last ditch bid to buy WCW when Fusient Media Ventures pulled out of the running last month. But because the WWF stepped up its negotiations, Savage didn't have enough time to put together a full-fledged offer. Savage told friends that the main reason he wanted WCW is because of the WCW tape library, which he believed was a goldmine for an overseas market. (Cred: WrestlingObserver, SLAM!, 1Wrestling) __________________ [In other news...] **The XFL ratings for both 3/31 and 4/7 on NBC came back at a 1.5 each, making them the two lowest rated shows in the history of prime time television. This past Saturday's rating staying down without basketball competition is a bad blow to the league. The game did an 0.8 among the target Adult 18-49 demographic. The Newark Star Ledger has an article saying the XFL is going to return for a second season quoting Mike Keller, the league's director of football operations and President Basil DeVito. Keller said he would say "on the heads of our children" that we'll be back next season. The article also claims UPN and TNN are happy with the league because they improved ratings over the same time slots a year ago. **Former WWF superstar Road Dogg is selling 2 hours of his personal time on EBAY. ViewItem&item=1133114852 **XPW promoter Rob Black, in his comedic running for Mayor of Los Angeles campaign, ended up getting about 700 votes, so he didn't quite qualify for the run-off. **Danny Doring was backstage at the WWF Smackdown tapings on Tuesday night. He might be given a spot on the roster sometime soon. **Bob Costas was on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night. The "interview" was about three minutes and was focused on Costas' interview with Vince. They showed the "...we haven't done the crotch chop in a year and haven't done the suck it chant in a year and a half..." clip. Costas joked that it's not like Vince replaced those things with award winning ideas from Good Housekeeping. Jon asked Bob if he was afraid Vince would hit him. Bob said no for two reasons - first, Vince is a smart businessman and second, it was not rehearsed. It was over after a final crack about TV commercials and the XFL. The Canadian Broadcasts Standards Council has given The Sports Network (TSN) a complex ruling in regards to the content of WWF programming on the network. The board criticized some of the more gutteral verbal dialogue used by announcers, but they said it was all right for Mae Young to give birth to a hand (an angle from over a year ago) because the segment was too absurd to be considered exploitive. They also felt that TSN is not providing adequate on-air viewer warnings concerning the content of the WWF shows. As a member of the council, TSN is obliged within the next few days to air a prime-time statement that the channel has in fact violated the code.
