In a statement, Senior President Frederick A. Stampono says, "We have spent considerable time reviewing the recent content of WWF Smackdown!, and have come to the conclusion that it is not an appropriate advertising vehicle for Pep Boys." Too much backstage and taped stuff and a lot of "boring" chants during all the taped stuff. HHH & Austin shared some beers after the show went off the air. Even after what they did to Lita, Austin received 40 to 60 percent cheers. Lots of fights in the crowd as well. **Much of the finish of RAW was edited off TSN in Canada, and will likely also be edited off the UK version of Raw this week. Both Canada and UK have standards regarding men-on-women violence, although its application isn't always consistent. **MSNBC on Saturday night ran a special on female bodybuilding. They talked about there being no money in bodybuilding and that women bodybuilders are trying to make some money from their work by getting into wrestling, and crediting that to the success of Chyna. They showed April Hunter training at Killer Kowalski's school thanking Chyna for opening those doors. **When the Rock returns from taping The Scorpion King, look for the former WWF Champion to appear on WCW television first. **The WWF will be launching a Kurt Angle website in May. **Look for Chris Jericho: Break The Walls Down to highlight May's Fanatic Series on pay-per-view along with a Best Of WrestleMania showcase. Following the June 13th show, tentative dates to follow are June 20th from the Coliseum in Jacksonville, FL and June 27th from the Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, PA. **Chances of Bill Goldberg and Sting appearing in the WWF or the new WCW are very slim. Both of them have showed no interest in contract buyout from Time Warner. It looks as if Goldberg has decided to sit out, and collect the rest of his pay as per the contract for the next two years. While Sting is rumored to officially announce his retirement from wrestling soon. JOHN'S, Antigua, April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Kicking off its season with some of the highest TV ratings in sports, the XFL's opening week had fans looking forward to two more months of football. The brainchild of NBC and Vince McMahon, owner of the World Wrestling Federation, the XFL features no fair catches, helmet cams and nicknames like "He Hate Me" on the backs of jerseys. But these gimmicks quickly wore out their welcome with football enthusiasts. Ratings have since plummeted. With a recent broadcast earning the lowest prime-time ratings in television history, it's not surprising that NBC executives are considering pulling the plug on XFL broadcasts. Recognizing dwindling interest in the league, Intertops.com today announced odds on whether or not the XFL will survive for a second season. The Internet's first and largest sports betting site, Intertops.com is now offering odds on what would be one of the quickest collapses of a promising sports league in history. The early consensus is that the league will fold after only one season, with odds posted at 10/13 (i.e. bet $13 to win $10) for the league not to make it past its inaugural year. Bettors may also wager on the likelihood of there being another year of XFL action, currently listed at 10/11. "When the first XFL games were played, everyone wanted to see what all the hype was about. Fans were intrigued by the marketing and advertising the league had done. But when people saw that the football wasn't very good, they quickly lost interest," said Simon Noble, executive director and co-founder of Intertops.com. "The league has to make some major improvements in order to win fans back and prove it's worth the investment or else the plug will be pulled." ______________________________________________________________________ [Article] Wrestling Still Dominates PPV Numbers Here are the latest pay-per-view figures (courtesy of 1wrestling.com) for the first quarter of 2001. In numbers released by Showtime Event Television Pay Per View yesterday, total PPV revenue for the first three months of the year was $62.7 million dollars, a decline of only 4% from last year at this time ($65.1M). Wrestling created 84% ($52.4 million) of the PPV revenue, up 8% from the first quarter of last year, but down 38% from 1999. Boxing came in a distant second with 12% ($7.5M) of the total. The top two events of the quarter were the WWF's Royal Rumble and No Way Out shows. The Holyfield-Ruiz II fight from March third was ranked 3rd, and WCW's SIN pay-per-view came in fourth. ______________________________________________________________________ [Parting Chair Shot] Remember, tell your friends about nWN - naidO's Wrestling News today! **Missed any TV Shows?
