Latest on WCW: - Twenty-four talents have been contractually obligated. - No internal staff (agents, referees, ring crews, announcers) has been hired yet. - The new tentative date for the first TV taping is Saturday, June 9 at a site yet to be determined. The program is planned to air tape delay on TNN later the same night, from 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM. - No start date for house shows has been set, but plans are to start those in the fall. The first WCW pay-per-view could come as early as September. - A three-hour meeting was held on Thursday at WWF headquarters to discuss the future of WCW and relaunch. - Several under-utilized WWF talents may be put in WCW. - Ross states: "Contrary to what you may have read or heard, Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., has not been finalized for the 2002 WrestleMania. This facility is under serious consideration but a site survey has yet to take place, which is absolutely necessary before any decision can be reached. We should know more within the next two or three weeks." - The Rock will be out until July or August filming movies. - Ross said doctors advised him to get stitches to close the wound on top of his head from Smackdown, but he opted to have it glued shut instead. - WWF stars will be off April 13-15 for Easter. - Playboy magazine wants to do more projects with the company. - Bradshaw has lost thirty pounds and will likely get a singles push soon. - Released: Just Joe, Jason Sensation, and Murray Happer from the Dupps. **Rock wins award from children's charity The Marty Lyons Foundation, which grants "special wishes" for children with life-threatening illnesses, has honored The Rock with the 2001 Children's Award. This is the second prestigious award that the People's Champion has received recently from a children's charity. Survivor ended up at 16.5 and CSI at 12.8 plus Millionaire at 11.3. UPN finished its usual fourth on the night. NBC took a beating, as it usually wins the night, and instead finished third with only an 8.0, with Friends rerun at 8.8 and Weber show at only 6.6. **This Sunday night on WWF Heat, William Regal will be the special guest host for the show as he joins Michael Cole and Tazz from WWF New York. Heat airs on MTV Sunday night's from 7-8:00pm ET on MTV in the United States and CTV SportsNet in Canada. **Rumour has it that Triple H and Steve Austin may square off at SummerSlam against one another with Hunter turning face. Tag belts might be in Austin and Hunter's future as well. Sounds like an evil Mega Powers angle to us. **RTC's days in the WWF may be numbered. According to Vince McMahon's office, it is 99 percent off at this point as the company's tentative plan now is to debut the new television show in early June. They may recognize at that time slot they have to make a strong first impression and it's better to wait until the show is ready then to rush it out to meet a deadline. **Little Guido may be headed to WCW, if Paul Heyman gets his way. **As it pertains to the new WCW, the WWF will be contemplating in the next few days which former ECW talent they will be offering contracts. **The WWF will not be picking up Christopher Daniels' contract for the new, WWF run WCW. (Cred: 1wrestling, ultimowreslting) __________________ [In other news...] **Last night in Tijuana, Mexico, Psicosis lost a 'Hair vs. Mask match' to El Hijo Del Santo. The bout was a two-out-of-three falls match. Santo won the first fall, Psicosis won the second fall, and the third fall went to Santo. After the match, Psicosis was indeed shaved bald. **Chris Candido and Tammy Sytch were not on the show last night in Danbury, CT for Wrestling Zone. They claim the promotion advertised them without even asking them to appear in the first place and both were booked for shows last night in Catawissa, PA and tonight in Tower City, PA. **With the wrestling boom gone, the television ratings are settling in to a regular pace with no spikes or jumps. In the Nielsen Media Basic Cable Ratings for the week of March 26 to April 1, WWF War Zone (the second hour of Raw Is War) scored a respectable 4.1 while the first hour came in at a disappointing 3.2. WrestleMania didn't seem to have much affect on the ratings at all. The last WCW-run Monday Night Nitro came in at a 2.3, up slightly from its usual ranking. That episode of Raw opened with Vince McMahon yapping about the purchase of WCW and a promo by Kurt Angle. **Tank Abbott, who was released by WCW, has contacted promoters trying to figure out a way to get a fight with Mike Tyson.
