He also stated that he wants to do a PPV in the fall. He also spoke a bit on what has happened with WCW and said that he was hoping to use some of that talent in his own group, including his son Dustin Rhodes. He also insinuated that Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair could do a national tour by rekindling their old feud. That breaks the 1990 Wrestlemania at the Toronto Sky Dome ($3.45 million) record for the largest live gate ever for pro wrestling outside of Japan. The American record had been broken the first day tickets for this event went on sale months ago. **3/29 Smackdown scored an above average 5.9 overnight rating, with a 9 share. **Despite being cut from storylines on both Raw and Smackdown this past week, Shawn Michaels is still slated to be at Wrestlemania. **Chris Jericho recently did a commercial for Gallery Funiture, who is a sponser of WWF Axxess. **Bradshaw will begin work on his book project about a month after a publisher is found. **The Orange County Register ran a story yesterday about the spectacle that is WrestleMania. In it, they get comments from top WWF stars. Superstars did a 1.1 rating, with a 3.2 share. Livewire did a 1.0 rating, with a 3.1 share. Heat did a 1.6 rating with a 2.4 share. The Heat replay did a 0.7 rating with a 1.4 share. War Games, which aired in the place of Thunder, did a 1.8. The TV broadcast will take place Saturday night, May 12 on TNN from 11:00 PM - 1:00 AM. **Booker T is currently expected to participate in the festivities of WrestleMania, but reports indicate that he most likely won't appear in an "official capacity." **Rumours are that Sting will accept a buyout of this contract from Time Warner and retire from professional wrestling. They pegged the purchase price at $10 million to $20 million (the real price will become public knowledge most likely when the WWFE financial statements come out over the next quarter). They claimed McMahon buying WCW ended a 15-year battle of egos between McMahon and Ted Turner, who started WCW "solely to drive McMahon out of business. It obviously didn't work." I hope we don't start reading that one a lot. Turner purchased Jim Crockett Promotions in 1988 solely to retain the highly rated wrestling programming on his station. If he had wanted at that time to actually drive McMahon out of business, he had the economic resources to hurt him badly. I can't say he could have driven him out of business because we don't know that. If Turner had wanted to compete really for the No. 1 slot, all he would have had to have done in those days was raid every WWF performer when their contract was up, and he'd have been able to be No. 1. Anyone who followed the early days of WCW knew the goal was no goal at all, but to not lose too much money while keeping the company alive. Jim Herd, who headed the division first, had meetings with every top WCW star, but signed none, because Time Warner would never offer anywhere close to what they were already making. The only time there was ever an attempt to really compete was under Eric Bischoff, and that didn't start until 1995 with the advent of Nitro and the signing of Randy Savage. But to the winner goes the ability to rewrite history, especially in this industry. ______________________________________________________________________ [Column] Screwjob of the Week - Ted Cabata Let me begin by saying the honory screwjob winner this week is Netscape for screwing me over and crashing just as i was about to hit send on this article! Needless to say I'm not to happy and I really don't want to sit here typing this all over, but hey i love wrestling! Now let me talk about the Simulcast on Monday Night. I loved it except for the fact that WCW announcers were blocked out and it was Ross and Heyman on both networks. I really wish people watching WCW could've heard Tony Schiviane going: "My God! What happens now?!?!" Besides that there isn't much to talk about. I think you all know who is going to win this week, but just to mention some other events here goes: Chris Benoit calling out Kurt Angle was great, except that with a week from Wrestlemania, this match has no heat. And William Regal has done a great job as heel commish, but once again no where close to the winner... The winner is...Shane McMahon. D'uh did you doubt this? He stole WCW from daddy. (note: this award goes by storylines, I am fully aware that Vince really did buy WCW!) the way this was set up was great. It leaves everyone wondering what will happen Sunday. Will Vince put Shane and the WCW over him and the WWF? Will Foley put Vince over leading to some kind of heel turn? Will WCW interfere? Will Vince win, defending the WWF over WCW? There are so many angles, and I love it!
