It looks now as though they will tape TV for the WCW show (whatever it's called, "Nitro" is not a lock) on Wednesday night for broadcast Friday on TNN in the late evenings. Originally we were told that the show would air Saturday nights but people were told last night at Madison Square Garden that the airdate would be Friday. This, of course, would allow Vince McMahon to be at the TV tapings to make sure the locker room is in check and everyone on their best behavior. It also allows Vince the freedom of bringing Pat Patterson to help with the matches on the new WCW show. Speaking of the locker room expect several agents like Arn Anderson and David Finlay (who are both well liked by WWF office) to be retained. Tomorrow on RAW there will be WCW wrestlers present and on Nitro there will be some WWF wrestlers sent over to shoot one angle. At the time of writing no names were known. Still no news regarding the announcers for the new promotion but with Joey Styles having sued the company over the Steve Austin video a couple of years ago and Don Callis not having left under the best terms, nobody expects the ECW PPV announce crew (who many consider the top team in the business and would probably be the best choice) to get the call. Also, several of the wrestlers at MSG last night spoke up about Rey Mysterio Jr who the WWF originally felt had a poor attitude. Looks like Rey might get a job with the new company after all. (Cred: wwf.com, SLAM! Wrestling) _______________ [News from WCW] **Brian Fritz caught up with Kevin Nash last night and talked to him about the death of WCW. Nash called it a "slow agonizing death". He said that management was terrible in WCW. He said that they got lucky with one angle (the nWo). He said that the WWF was first class and WCW was a mess. He said it was like the stock market. WCW was up, now it's down. Nash said that even when WCW was beating the WWF, the WWF did good PPV business whereas when WCW went down, their PPV buyrates did too. He said that it stinks that the boys won't have leverage now, but that's life. Fritz asked him if he saw himself continuing on, and Nash said that his contract is not transferable and he will not be going anywhere until it runs out in 10 months. He said that he has saved his money and doesn't need to work, but in 10 months, when his deal runs out, he will see what the options are. Nash was asked if he will be on Nitro Monday and he said, "Not a chance". **In a Charlotte Observer article, Ric Flair comments on the sale of WCW by saying, "Somehow we always thought it would work out. It's unbelievable. I always thought it would be part of TBS." http://www.charlotte.com/0323wcw.htm **The majority of WCW's roster has a clause in their contract that allows the contract to be terminated at the end of 90 day cycles as long as they are notified 30 days prior to the end of the cycle. The assumption is that all wrestlers with such clauses will be notified that they contracts are being terminated at the end of their current cycle, and the WWF will re-negotiate with those wrestlers they intend to keep on the roster. Some of the WCW contracts will reportedly be included in the purchase of the company and will likely then be terminated and renegotiated. Many WCW wrestlers, including at least one of the wrestlers reportedly on a list of those wanted by the WWF, are looking at alternate options. Those options include working internationally, taking independent dates, and the possibility of waiting for a new startup promotion to be established. Guess what, it seems they've got him. It's no secret within the wrestling industry that despite top TV ratings, mismanagement has kept WCW in the red for years, with the exception of a short spell when then WCW president Eric Bischoff turned things around. Last year alone, the company lost $80 million US. The overnight metered rating for the game was a 2.1 with a 4.0 share, the same rating the program drew last week. I am debating whether I want to bother watching the last edition of Nitro, I doubt they will screw anybody over, but I may watch for history's sake. Anyway back to the week at hand, had to work during RAW this week but we have a TV so I did get to see most of RAW. My reaction was this..."HOLY ****! That's Rhino! And E&C just won the tag title again....yeeeeeessssss!" Then a while later I am working and I turn back to see an event that I knew I had to make as this week's winner. Before I name that let's look back at Smackdown. Triple H beat the hell outta the Undertaker. That was classic. I think I should rename this award the "Triple H Screw Job Award" because he deserves it after all the screwing he has done over time. Anyway back to this week's winner, if you watched RAW and you read my above comment, then I think you know who won this week... The winner is...Spike Dudley! I unfortunately missed most of the match and as I turned back to the TV I see the Dudley Boyz with the tag team titles and there's Spike Dudley! I was shocked and happy. The Dudleyz are tag champs again and Spike is now in the WWF, now I just hope we see Tommy Dreamer, but the way things are going I doubt it. Maybe Vince will make him a WCW star..? Anyway I will survive with Spike screwing people. Comments?
