Officials from both the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling met this morning and reached a short-term agreement in which the WWF would purchase WCW, with a final target date yet to be announced. Sources say the deal includes the purchase of the WCW brand, tape library and a handful of wrestlers including Ric Flair, Chuck Palumbo, Sean O'Haire, Chavo Guerrero Jr, Shane Helms and Stacy Keibler, whose contracts are all under the $1 million a year range. While the WWF may acquire some WCW superstars, the WWF's main plan is to keep WCW as a separate promotion. However, in saying that a prime time TNN slot may not be available, and may have to use a Saturday evening or Sunday morning programming block. Time Warner will continue to own the contracts of several big-name stars, until they buy them out of their contracts with an option to go to the WWF if the WWF is interested in them. While the WWF is interested in Goldberg, they won't be bringing him in under his current $3 million a year contract. However the preliminary announcement may be no more secure than Fusient's original announcement to acquire the company back in January. The WWF will probably announce the move once everything has officially been worked out. More updates will come soon ______________________________________________________________________ [News from The WWF] **WWF Smackdown had a 5.2 overnight rating, with an 8 share. Below is a report of what happened when he did. Phil said he has spoken with Vince McMahon several times on the phone. Phil said they spoke within the last year on the phone. Vince said Phil has never accepted his invitation to come to his shows, offices or to meet in person. Vince asked Phil if he was afraid of him. Phil said he wasn't, he just didn't need to meet with Vince. Vince said he took steroids when they were legal when he was bodybuilding. Phil brought up Dr. George Zahorian prescribing the steroids to him and ending up in prison. Vince said it was legal at the time to take steroids, and that Zahorian went to jail for distributing steroids. Mushnick brought up that former ring announcer Mel Phillips was a pedophile. Vince McMahon said there was no truth to the accusations, otherwise it would have gone to a court of law. Mushnick then named Terry Garvin has being a pedophile. McMahon said no charges were brought against either man or the company for that matter. Mushnick claimed Vince told him that both men were. Mushnick claimed Vince hired FBI guys to follow Mushnick. Vince said he did not. The hosts asked if any of this happened recently. McMahon said it was all ten years ago. The hosts asked for something more current. Phil said his ten year-old daughter and her friends were referred to as "bitches" and "hos" by their classmates because of Vince's shows. Phil said the shows were a bad influence. Vince told him not to watch. The hosts asked why Phil was blaming Vince, and not the parents that let the children watch the shows. Phil said the show was everywhere, and couldn't be avoided. Phil continually talked over Vince and the hosts, to the point that the hosts had to yell at Mushnick to let them talk. Vince said their program is not for everyone, but he believes in freedom of expression. Phil said parents are buying WWF toys for their kids. The hosts said the parents are buying the toys, not the kids. The hosts said it is parent that should raise their kid. Mushnick left the show. **Check the lead article below... STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) - The XFL is eyeing new cities despite the league's plummeting TV ratings. Under existing plans to add two to four teams in the second or third season, a newly created expansion committee will visit Washington, D.C., on Tuesday. "We have had requests from a number of cities who would like to join the XFL, and we have targeted several for early visits," XFL president Basil Devito Jr. said Thursday. The fledgling football league, jointly owned by the World Wrestling Federation and NBC-TV, has been giving advertisers free commercial spots to make up for lower-than-promised ratings. Saturday night's Week 7 broadcast on NBC drew a 1.6 rating, believed to be the worst prime-time night among the big three networks in Nielsen Media Research history. (Yahoo! News) ______________________________________________________________________ [Review] Triple H on Conan O'Brien HHH was on Conan O'Brien's show early this morning. I caught the appearance. HHH laughed when he came out, saying that the show band doesn't get many requests for Motorhead (his entrance music). HHH said that he had flight problems getting to the show, but he made it. Conan said that pro wrestling is a fascinating world and he asked if he could fit in around the business. HHH said that if the ring post broke, he could hold the ropes up. HHH said that he noticed last time he was on the show that Conan has a "really huge head". Conan says that it frightens the audience sometime and was like a parade float. Conan said that HHH had a big head too. HHH said it was mostly nose. HHH called Conan's hair a pompadour. Conan said that HHH was the most hated man in the WWF and he asked how it affects his normal life. He said that sometimes it can be awkward. He said one time he was checking in at an airport and 20 people chanted "A-hole" at him. He said it was kind of embarrassing. Conan asked if it was ever beneficial to be a heel, and he said yeah. He said sometimes when he is a bad mood or in a hurry, he can blow fans off because that is what his character would do. Conan asked him what he does to relax. HHH said he only watches late night TV usually and Conan was one of his favorite shows. He said that he likes VH1's "Behind the Music" shows too. Then, Conan brought up WrestleMania, and HHH talked about it. Conan said that his show is delayed two hours in Houston, and shot on the station there. HHH said he would cut a promo on them in Houston at Mania. Conan doubted he would do it. HHH said that he hit the UT on Smackdown with a sledgehammer tonight. He said that Conan could come to Mania and if UT got out of hand, he could hit UT with Conan, "Because your head has to weigh more than a sledgehammer". That was it. It was a good segment and HHH was very funny. ______________________________________________________________________ [Parting Chair Shot] Remember, tell your friends about nWN - naidO's Wrestling News today! **Missed any TV Shows?
