That's the word from WWF spokesman Gary Davis in today's New York Post, as the mainstream media coverage of the WCW situation continues. Davis was also quoted as saying that acquiring WCW "fits in with our strategic initiatives" in the article by Allyson Lieberman. The balance of the article ran down the situation thus far, including the recent decision by Turner networks to no longer air wrestling. It also pointed out that Fusient Media Ventures was negotiating to buy the company, but the decision of new Turner Broadcasting chief Jamie Kellner to take WCW off the air has them rethinking the deal. The idea of the match is to feature the greatest gimmicks of all time with The Bushwhackers (Luke and Butch), Doink the Clown, Brother Love, Sgt. Slaughter, Freebird Michael Hayes, Nikolai Volkoff, the Iron Sheik, and believe it or not, The Gobbledy Gooker, all scheduled to appear so far. More names are to be added as we get closer to Wrestlemania. **The WWF announced today that they have chosen Sekani, Inc. as its media asset management partner. Under the deal, Sekani "will design an end-to-end strategy for storing, cataloging and managing the company's archives, which includes more than 40 years of original live programming, pay-per-view events, home video and other media properties." The WWF hopes to sell their product through such "various digital distribution outlets such as video-on-demand and the Internet," said Stuart C. Snyder, President and COO of World Wrestling Federation Entertainment. (Cred: 1wrestling) _______________ [News from WCW] **The Pro Wrestling Torch reports Fusient released this statement late Tuesday: "Fusient Media Ventures has terminated its efforts to purchase the WCW as a result of the decision by Turner Broadcasting Systems to no longer carry wrestling programming on its networks." **If you noticed that Scott Steiner has been limping the last few days it's because he has a pinched nerve in his left leg, near the knee. His leg, from the knee down, is totally dead and has little to no feeling. An MRI is scheduled for tomorrow in Atlanta to see the extent of the injury. It is not known right now if he will be able to work next week's "season finale" in Panama City, FL against Booker T. More should be known later. To history-making depths, much to NBC's chagrin. Saturday's telecast of XFL football on NBC scored a 1.6 rating, believed to be the lowest-ever prime-time night among the big three networks in Nielsen Media Research history. Researchers could only find one other single prime-time program to match it - an ABC News special on drug policy that aired on Aug. 30, 1997, also scoring a 1.6. But Saturday's XFL game blew out NBC's entire prime-time. As a result, NBC finished third in the ratings for the week, although the network managed to pull out a victory in the 18-to-49-year-old demographic that it targets. Saturday's XFL game was particularly hurt by CBS' broadcast of the NCAA men's basketball tournament. With 10.2 million viewers on Saturday, the basketball audience was five times that of football. NBC Entertainment President Jeff Zucker said Tuesday that he didn't expect the plug to be pulled on the XFL before the season, which has five more games, is complete. Zucker wouldn't comment on its status beyond this year; NBC has planned to bring it back next year.
