Last week, the game scored a 2.8. **The XFL has announced that starting next year, they are considering bringing in 19 year-old football players, as reported in today's New York Times. The idea is that they would bring in high school graduates who have not qualified academically for college and allow them to play in the league. The XFL is presenting it as they will give kids who are talented, but can't get into college, the opportunity to play ball. The move is opposed by the American Football Coaches Association, who think the players are too young to play pro ball. It would appear that the XFL is considering this as, at least in part, a publicity stunt. After all, on their broadcast last night, they told fans to tune in next week to see cameras taken into the cheerleaders' locker room. **Click http://www.canoe.ca/SlamWrestling/hitman_home.html to read Bret Hart's latest commentary on what personal things people have to face. Early in the interview, Boyd asked Callis about the Jerry Lawler situation. This is Callis' reply: "Well, there's been a lot of speculation about that on the internet as of late. I've worked for the World Wrestling Federation before and although I say never say never, and business is business and if someone makes you an offer that you like, maybe you consider it. My own inclination is, I have friends - Chris Jericho and Edge are two of my best friends in the wrestling business - and both of them have offered to talk to the higher ups there about bringing me in." "I honestly don't really have any interest in it. That's probably not the smartest thing for me to say because now I'm telling other companies that I'm not interested in going there. For the right money, I'd work and for the right deal I'd work, but I don't think from my end of it its something I would look at. I had a great experience there but I'm not looking to go back, and honestly I don't think that they will be making me any offers anytime soon." "I honestly think that with Vince McMahon being probably the smartest guy in the wrestling business, I don't think that Jerry Lawler quitting was unexpected and I think Vince probably already had a backup plan long before the thing with Lawler played out. One of the Litmus Tests will be this Monday night on Raw if you have a fill in announcer like Tazz or Michael Cole, then we'll kind of think maybe he didn't plan out the Jerry Lawler thing, but if you have a big name like a Bobby Heenan or a Paul Heyman, someone of that nature stepping right into that spot of Raw, then the whole thing starts to look like it was a planned scenario."
