Jerry Lawler's website, KINGLAWLER.COM, has shed more light into what happened on Tuesday. Lawler talked to the Webmaster of the site and said a meeting took place in the day to discuss what was going to happen on Smackdown. The meeting took a break at 2:00 in the afternoon, and resumed around 4:00. Jim Ross informed Lawler that they had to release Kat. Lawler said he told Vince McMahon and JR that if Stacy goes, he goes. Both left the building. Lawler claims no incident of any kind led up to the release, and the two are still trying to figure out exactly where they stand. ______________________________________________________________________ [Monday night and weekend ratings] For Monday 2/26 TIME NITRO RAW -------------------------- 8:00-9:00 2.3 --- 9:00-10:00 1.8 4.9 10:00-11:00 --- 5.3 -------------------------- Head to Head 1.8 4.9 -------------------------- Composite 2.1 5.1 Change +0.1 +0.3 QUARTERS: 800 815 830 845 900 915 930 945 1000 1015 1030 1045 1100 RAW --- --- --- --- 4.4 4.9 5.1 5.2 5.6 5.2 5.2 5.1 5.6 NITRO 2.1 2.3 2.4 2.6 2.2 1.8 1.6 1.6 2.2 --- --- --- --- **Livewire did a 1.2 rating (3.4 share) **Superstars did a 1.2 rating (3.0 share) **Heat did a 1.8 rating (with a 2.9 share) **Smackdown on 2/22 scored a broadcast rating of 4.5 **Thunder on 2/14 did a 1.5 rating (1wrestling.com) ______________________________________________________________________ [News from The WWF] **Federation releases Stacy Carter Stacy Carter (The Kat) was released today by the World Wrestling Federation. Her husband, Jerry "The King" Lawler, also decided to leave the company under protest. **'Tough Enough' final audition today and tomorrow WWF Tough Enough received thousands of tapes from applicants over the course of the past several weeks, and those thousands have been narrowed down a field of 200 possible participants. Come witness these finalists audition for a spot on WWF Tough Enough -- as well as a possible career in the WWF -- today and tomorrow at WWF New York in Times Square! **The WWF champ's got a new site Calling all Rock fans! The brand-new World Wrestling Federation Champion now has a brand-new Web site! TheRock.com has a completely new look, and features tons of exclusive photos, videos and stories on the man who made Federation history at No Way Out! Check it out at TheRock.com! **Edge's back was really hurting Monday on RAW, after the table bump he received at the PPV. Apparently he will be kept off WWF TV in the next 2 weeks. **While the Rock may cut a great promo in the ring, the producers of The Mummy II: The Scorpion King, weren't too happy with his growling and snarling. Apparently, they felt that the Rock wasn't fierce enough sounding so they have re dubbed in all the growling with the vocal efforts of rock singer Max Cavalera, who has sung for both Sepultura and Soulfly. (Cred: wwf.com, The Law) _______________ [News from WCW] **The rumor is that the 5/6 WCW PPV will be called "The Bang". **Dave Meltzer reports at wrestlingobserver.com that WCW has cancelled their NWA Wildside contract for good. No word on if any other indy federations will be contacted for training of WCW's wrestlers. **Arn Anderson has been suspended for two weeks. It had something to do with taking the heat for laying out a match with Lex Luger over the past week but not sure of all the details. **Official Thunder preview: WCW.com has learned, according to the WCW rule book, Booker T.'s win over Scott Steiner on Nitro made the Harlem Heater eligible for a title shot. The former world heavyweight champion has asked for interview time, and plans to challenge the King of Pump to a match on Thunder. Here are other matches, courtesy of CEO Ric Flair's office: WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Tournament Match, Round One Kwee-Wee and Above Average Mike Sanders vs. The Jung Dragons Billy Kidman and Rey Mysterio moved forward Monday -- and now these two very opposite teams get a chance to make the next round of the tournament. According to Sanders, the former commissioner is willing to forget his past problems with Kwee-Wee since they will be fighting for more than just the pay window. Kwee-Wee, however, refused to return our calls. Shane Helms vs. Johnny Swinger Once again, Shane Helms will take on a tough cruiserweight opponent -- while champion (and CEO Ric Flair's close friend) Chavo Guerrero Jr. watches from the backstage area. According to WCW's backstage physician, Helms might not be at a hundred percent for this singles showdown. Johnny The Bull vs. Shawn Stasiak Last week, Shawn Stasiak took out Big Vito and talked more trash than Fred Sanford. Johnny The Bull requested this match late last week. According to our sources, Johnny and Stasiak have always had a strained relationship, going back to their days in the Natural Born Thrillers. Konnan vs. Mike Awesome Konnan promised to step up and join the good fight Monday. With Team Canada working closely with Ric Flair, K-Dawg will take the fight to the group's enforcer, Mike Awesome. Remember, fans, not only have The Filthy Animals caused these Canadians great stress, but Konnan was the man who cost Awesome his sweet '70s mullet. DISQO vs. Chuck Palumbo Normally WCW.com avoids mentioning matches involving DISQO -- but the details surrounding this match struck us as noteworthy. Alex Wright lobbied for his Boogie Knights partner to battle the monster Palumbo, instead of taking the match himself. Does Das Wunderkind want to force a match with tag champions Palumbo/O'Haire? Or does he finally hate DISQO as much as the rest of us? PLUS: The Cat, DDP, Rick Steiner, Kanyon, Totally Buff and many more of your favorite stars... She claims that Tyson has not even had any discussions with Inoki about this fight at all. At this point, New Japan has yet to announce this. **In his New York Daily News column today, gossip columnist Mitchell Fink ran a story about last Monday's Wallflowers concert at the opening of the Hard Rock Hotel at the Universal Orlando theme park. Fink reported that Hulk Hogan attended the concert with Kid Rock he said that the two had dinner together and talked about doing a CD together (maybe "I am a real American Bad ass perhaps?). Fink quoted Hogan as saying that if he returned to wrestling, "It definitely will not be with the WCW." With Hogan's past history of misdirection, take that for what it's worth. The article says the XFL rating was actually the second lowest prime time major network rating in history, saying that on April 15, 2000, a split show with the end of an NBA game and a Third Rock from the Sun rerun did a 2.4. However, based on that same 30 minute criteria as opposed to one show as a whole (where the lowest would be the NHL All-Star game in 1997 at 2.8, with the exception of a Christmas Eve show this past year with a 2.2 although networks don't count holidays in these sort of records), the 10-10:30 p.m. half hour of the XFL game beat that out with a 2.2. The article also listed good news saying the TNN rating increased from last week, but that isn't the case. Last week the TNN game had 918,000 homes while this week the total was 870,000, both garnering an 0.9 when it comes to national ratings points although in cable points it did drop from 1.2 to 1.1. ______________________________________________________________________ [Column] Random Thoughts WWF RAW IS WAR: **6 Times...Rock's now better than Bret **BTW...didn't Phoenix have Raw and Samckdown back to back a couple months ago? **Oh yes, this is gonna be good. $10 on Austin stunning Rock! **Justin...CHANGE YOUR ENTRANCE MUSIC NOW! **Wait, why are two heel tag teams facing each other? **Don't give TSN promotion JR...they don't deserve it **Why does Molly walk like that? **And now two FACE teams are facing each other...good grief! **D'Von, why would you want to go there?
