Word has it that Rainbow Sports (a part of Cablevision) is in negotiations to buy Extreme Championship Wrestling. Apparently the negotiations are so serious that if a deal is struck, they would aim for an April 2 re-launch date, which ironically enough is also the tentative date for WCW's relaunch, by at first showing a few months of shows on Fox Sports affiliates in New York, Florida, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, and Ohio on stations owned by Cablevision/Rainbow. If the buyout goes ahead, Paul Heyman would stay on and head the creative department. Although their role has been unconfirmed, apparently Pioneer Home Entertainment (the ECW video/DVD distributor) is also involved in the talks. (pwtorch.com & ultimowrestling) ______________________________________________________________________ [News from The WWF] **WWF.com has posted two interviews with the two newest members of the World Wrestling Federation, Jerry Lynn and Rhino. To read WWF.com's interview with Rhino, Click http://www.wwf.com/news/headlines/1035694 To read WWF.com's interview with Jerry Lynn, Click http://www.wwf.com/news/headlines/1035696 **An idea being thrown around for the debuts of some of the other new ECW talent signed by the WWF is to have them either feud with each other or all team up so that they can get each other over first, and then move on their seperate ways. **X-Pac's new angle has to do with him being "hungry for competition," and will win most, if not all, of his matches during this upcoming push. It will be played out as no one in the WWF being good enough for him, and he may take part in some feuds with the new ECW talent since they technically "won't be from the WWF," in the storyline. **Tazz will be hosting this Monday's RAW Is WAR party at WWF New York. **The WWF has opened a new website entitled http://www.WWFBumps.com, which highlights the most amazing and dangerous spots to ever take place on WWF television. **The New York section of WWFDivas.com has been updated with several hundred new photos of the women of the WWF. **Here's news & notes from the latest Ross Report: - Tajiri has not signed a Federation contract but is expected to do so this week. Jerry Lynn's contract should be waiting for me to sign when I return from my current road trip. Both will be excellent additions to the roster. - Look for the Kat-Right to Censor issue to escalate next week and to have presence at No Way Out. - Eric Angle, Kurt's older brother, is now in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in Louisville, Ky., training. It's too early to tell if Eric is going to approach his brother's success. - Paul Heyman supporters continue to contact me as if I am the obstacle that's keeping him from joining the Federation creative team. I'm not. I want him on the team. Also, some have used their active imaginations to misinterpreted my "I'll drink his Kool-Aid" line as a negative. That flippant remark was not intended to be negative. I only meant that I believe in Paul Heyman's creative ability and would fully support his joining our company. - The Hardy Boyz certainly belong in the upper echelon of tag teams in the business, with the Dudley Boyz and Edge & Christian. Matt and Jeff can be huge single stars here before they hang up their boots too. Count their omission here last week to sleep deprivation. - Eddie Guerrero is getting his timing back after returning from a variety of injuries. He's probably at 75 percent, which is still better than most. - Chris Benoit will be one of the biggest fan favorites in the Federation in 2001. - Lisa Marie Varon is improving very well in Memphis Championship Wrestling (MCW) with her in-ring work. She's not ready yet, but with Bobby Eaton on hand to work with her, she's about to get better. - I'd like to see Tazz get more in-ring time. My intuition tells me that will happen. - X-Pac looks rested and ready to resume his Federation career. I hope he can remain injury free and elevate to the next level. There is a creative piece missing and he needs to improve his verbal skills, but I love his work. - Dean Malenko returns to the ring Sunday at a Federation live event in Evansville, Ind., six weeks after knee surgery, and will face Jerry "The King" Lawler. Look for a ground attack in this one. - Justin Credible has his first Federation live event match Sunday in Evansville, vs. K-Kwik. - William Regal is close to returning to the ring as his neck condition is improving. Regal will be traveling to Australia March 21- 25 on behalf of the Federation. Regal continues to make all his commitments despite his injury. - Lita spent a couple of days in Toronto doing promotional work for the Federation and our hard-working Canadian staff this week. I love her potential! - Expect roster cuts to begin soon. Let the rampant speculation begin. (Cred: the law, ultimowrestling, wwf.com) _______________ [News from WCW] **The scheduled Totally Buff vs. KroniK match for this Sunday's WCW Superbrawl Revenge pay-per-view has been changed to just Totally Buff vs. Brian Adams. Bryan Clark has yet to receive medical clearance to return to wrestling from his severe concussion, but has been working out. **Eric Bischoff apparently wants WCW to bring back Road Warrior Hawk, who is currently training for a comeback and is good friends with Bischoff. (Cred: the law) _______________ [News from ECW] **Super Crazy, Steve Corino, Simon Diamond, and Dawn Marie all have been asked by WCW to work tryout matches in the upcoming weeks before they come to terms on a contract. One ECW wrestler called this practice "insulting," and it may have been what led Tajiri to sign with the WWF instead of WCW. (Cred: the law) __________________ [In other news...] **The Warlord was recently arrested by Coral Springs Police in Florida and detained for over three weeks before being forced to return to Virginia, where he has been wanted since 1997 on charges of steroid possession with the intention to distribute. The whereabouts of the former WWF star was discovered when he attempted to buy a gun in Margate. It's time for the "screw job of the week" and boy do I have a surprise for all of you. I could easily give this award to Triple H screwing over Steve Austin with his stipulations for No Way Out, I could also give it to Flair's Team Elite for their dominance going into SuperBrawl this weekend. I also thought about giving it to the WWF for signing more ECW talent and pretty much putting the nail in the coffin (sadly enough), but then I thought..."Hey, this week's article should somehow tie into Valentine's day and WWF Smackdown gave me the exact moment I was looking for... The winner is...Vince McMahon Yes I am that much of a scrooge, to call my GF after seeing that little promo and tell her that's how she will be treated if she annoys me anymore (writers note: the conversation wasvery sarcastic and I would get my ass kicked by my GF if I ever meant it). Anyway after watching Vince take flowers back from Linda and told her that they would remain married just so that Linda can't get control, I sat in front of my TV and decided that this was the perfect screw job for Valentine's Day!
