Fritz asked about Gunn's former partner, The Road Dogg Jesse James. Gunn told Fritz, "I believe he just signed with WCW so at least it worked out for him." For the record, this has not been corroborated by anyone in WCW at this time, and should be treated as a rumor until it happens. Apparently, the owner of Ringside Collectibles was willing to turn over the websites to the WWF in exchange for $3,000, a link to his site from WWF.com, and two tickets to Wrestlemania. However, instead of negotiating, the WWF pursued legal action and won both names. **The WWF Royal Rumble pay-per-view, which took place on 1/21, drew a 1.35 buyrate (568,000 buys). Last year's Rumble drew a 1.60 buyrate, which was headlined by Triple H and Cactus Jack in the main event. **Many in the WWF were upset at the recent firing of Dennis Knight (Mideon). He was well loved backstage and was described as a very comedic character, and some were upset that the WWF couldn't find another role for him other than as a wrestler. (Cred: lwn, the law) _______________ [News from WCW] **It looks like Super Crazy won't be at this week's WCW TV tapings, even though it was reported last week that he would be. (Cred: ultimowrestling) _______________ [News from ECW] **Several online shopping websites have begun taking pre-orders for a VHS & DVD release of ECW's first-ever pay-per-view special. "Barely Legal" has a release date of April 10, 2001. Also scheduled for release on April 10, 2001 according to online merchants is "ECW: Deep Impact" the third in a series of "Best of ECW" compilations. **"I arrived back into Winnipeg recently after being on the road for two weeks without my cell phone or laptop and completely cut off from professional wrestling to find that, once again, the buzz in the industry was about the future of ECW." - Read the rest of Cyrus' commentary by clicking http://cgi.canoe.ca/SlamWrestlingJackyl/home.html (Cred: ultimowrestling, the law) __________________ [In other news...] **XFL football ratings are in for the 18-49 demographic. Unlike last week, XFL did not lead the pack among networks, but did stay strong. The game had a 5.1 rating with a 9 share. Keep in mind that final numbers from Nielsen are yet to be released and the rating is likely to be a bit higher since only 18-49 year olds were measured. **This past Friday night at the Western Canadian Extreme Wrestling TV tapings, Davey Boy Smith did a run-in to set up his first match back on 2/23 where he will be teaming with his son, Harry Smith, against Gerry Morrow & Great Gama. **The latest edition of Bret Hart's Calgary Sun column is now online at Slam! Wrestling. This week, Bret talked about protecting the business by not talking to his brother Owen during their feud except for one time when someone caught them talking in an airport lounge. Then, Bret goes on to talk about a charity that he's involved in called 'The Love of Children Society of Alberta'. Let's set up a backyard wrestling ring like other kids are doing all over the country and smash each other's skulls with construction signs and fluorescent light bulbs! Let's throw each other from rooftops! Let's fling each other down on hundreds of tacks! Let's cream each other with steel chairs, kendo sticks, trash cans, stop signs, guitars, snow shovels, crutches, ladders, cactuses, mattress frames, two-by-fours with nails sticking out and just, you know, stuff from around the house! Yeah, it hurts, but that's what makes it cool, dude!
