The segment started off with Diane Sawyer talking a bit about Chyna being "the only female to step in the ring with the guys", and they showed some clips of her. They then went to a taped interview with Chyna, who basically just talked about her book being about "becoming Chyna". It only lasted for a few minutes, but at the end, the interviewer seemed to put over the fact that you have to be an actual athlete to do some of the things that wrestlers do. She also said that she was genuinely intimidated by Chyna, and that Chyna is "as popular as The Rock or Stone Steve Austin." (1wrestling) ______________________________________________________________________ [News from The WWF] **Dave Taylor, who was William Regal's partner in WCW, has been hired by the WWF to be the trainer on their "Tough Enough" series. Clark has been suffering from headaches since taking the shot and has scheduled a CAT scan for Thursday. The chairshot, delivered by Animal, knocked Clark out for several minutes and caused a gash on the back of his head. He was taken to the hospital and a CAT scan was recommended, but Clark refused treatment because it was 2:00 AM. Clark holds no grudges to Animal for the abusive shot and the two have been in contact since the incident. Ironically, Animal's planned chairshot to Clark was to be worked as a "concussion," keeping him out of action until Superbrawl. **If you looked closely at the ratings yesterday, the Ric Flair angle with Dusty and Dustin Rhodes, which aired right at 9 p.m., did a great job of holding the audience when Raw came on. I think that says a lot. The decision has been made to close the School. Due to other business commitments Shawn will not have the time to spend at the wrestling school. My god, that had to be one of the worst games ever played. Here are a few observations I made this week while watching Raw and Nitro. Speaking of football, I have to give kudos to Lex Luger (That's right- this week he's not Lex Loser) for his crackback on "Raventhal" Ray Lewis. Nice to see that someone isn't forgetting that this guy has about as much of a right to be a role model as Rae Carruth. I know Rae, you were just exercising "planned parenthood." What a couple of scumbags. How either of these guys still breathe oxygen boggles the mind. Was it just me, or was Jeff Jarrett actually funny on Nitro? You had to love that "Say hello to Bubba" crack. Also, I am just becoming a major mark for The Cat. This guy has really come into his own, and he is really drawing heat. One other question: What's with getting the frat guys involved in angles? One pepper-sprays Goldberg, one trips over DDP and cries "assault". Is this contributing to the delinquency of minors? Interesting seeing the son of The American Cowpie on Monday. I was even more shocked when the Cowpie made his way to the ring. It was weird; I was actually getting a kick out of seeing the old boy kick Nature Boy's "bootie" If you will...... As for Ric Flair, let me get this straight. You are going to make it as difficult as possible for Kevin Nash to win the WCW title, putting as many roadblocks as possible in his way. Can we just insert the names Vince McMahon and Steve Austin, and move on to something else please? As for the WWF, I was surprised by what I saw during the "contract signing". I thought, 'Great just like every other contract signing.' The face signs it first, the heel stalls, then signs, and then kicks the crap out of the face. This generates even more heat for their match. This was evidenced by the Hogan/Andre signing at the 88 Royal Rumble, and the Steiners/Nasty Boys signing before Halloween Havoc 90. I have to admit, I was guessing a bit when Vince announced the 'penalties' for any improper physical contact, so immediately I asked 'OK, how does HHH get around this?' Well, as you all know, it started off the same; Austin signs pretty quickly; HHH stews about it, and his weasly lawyer looks at it. Then the contract is signed, and we have a match. Then HHH cracks Austin. At that point, I'm wondering 'OK, how do they explain it. I have to admit, my thinking cap was pretty loose that night, and the only thing I could think of was that Triple H would say that the contract signing constituted a "WWF sanctioned event", so his attack was legal. I loved it when he said "I never signed it." Even Vince loved it. There you have it, an old premise, but a new twist on it. You've gotta love it. Also kudos to HHH for "Paragraph 3:16 says you can't touch me." And finally, this weekend marks the beginning of the inaugural XFL season. I'm gonna watch it at first because I am a football shill, and can't get enough. I will turn it off though if someone gets clocked by a metal folding chair. VILE'S TOTALLY ANAL TRIVIA: Congratulations to Jason Myers and our own naidO who correctly answered last week's question. Tito Santana and Bret Hart were the first two competitors in the first ever Royal Rumble.
