Both of those men have contracts that are controlled by Victor Quinones. Any deal they sign will go through him. While there was a lot of talk that Tajiri would go to WCW, my first inclination was that if the WWF wanted either man, they would get first shot at them. Quinones has a working relationship with the WWF that would seem to indicate that he was more comfortable with having his guys go there. I have heard over the last week that the WWF is finally serious about lending legitimacy to the Light Heavyweight division and Tajiri will be brought in to work there." To make room for additions to their roster, the WWF gave Mideon his release on Friday. Recently, the ex-Ministry member signed a one-year extension to his contract, but there was a clause stating that the WWF could sever the deal early. He did receive a compensation package following his firing. **Justin Credible has signed a contract with the WWF, but will be made available to ECW should they run a PPV in March. There are no plans at all for him to team with X-Pac. X-Pac is returning to house shows this coming weekend, but it's not a definite he'll be on TV next week. **The website for "The Mummy Returns" has launched and features The Rock among the eight primary cast members. A photo is shown of him on the cast page with long hair past his shoulders. A trailer for for the movie is also available through the website including a few brief shots of Rock screaming. During the SuperBowl, a commercial was seen after halftime. To access the site, click TheMummy.com. Four Corners Cruiserweight Match Jaime Knoble vs. Yang vs. Shannon Moore vs. Evan Karagias Yes, you guessed it. The Cat told WCW.com he's been reading the positive things fans have written about the cruiserweight division. In response, he's giving the youngsters more time to show their wares and rock the crowd. Considering the tremendous action in last week's cruiserweight countdown match, fans can be sure these contenders will bring high-flying action to the next outrageous level. Chavo Guerrero and The Wall vs. Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman Since Chavo is set to defend his cruiserweight title against Rey-Rey at SuperBrawl Revenge, the commish only thought it fair to give these two athletes an opportunity to gauge the other's abilities. The Wall's size might be a factor in this match, but don't forget -- the Filthy Animal team has held the tag titles on more than one occasion. U.S. Title Match The Franchise Shane Douglas vs. Rick Steiner The commissioner's office claimed this match was simply random booking, but WCW.com suspects the motive might be revenge. Regardless of The Cat's true intentions, you can be certain The Franchise will learn why the Dog-Faced Gremlin strikes fear in locker rooms and bars across the world. A Flair For The Dramatic According to the CEO's office, Ric Flair will book matches on Nitro as well -- including the show's main event -- but he has decided to hold off on announcing anything until the beginning of Monday's program. While the CEO's people wouldn't give specifics, WCW.com has learned Flair will have two major announcements, one involving The Cat and another regarding Kevin Nash's SuperBrawl Revenge match against world champion Scott Steiner. PLUS: Scott Steiner, Totally Buff, DDP, Jeff Jarrett, Hugh Morrus and all your favorite WCW superstars. (Cred: RowdyRaw.com, 1wrestling) ______________________________________________________________________ [Article] NYTIMES & Bruno talk about McMahon Yesterday's New York Times ran an article about Vince McMahon and the XFL, which debuts next wee. In it, the writer talked about all of the hype that has accompanied the XFL and said that he is having a hard time getting excited about its outlandish presentation since the NFL actually has real murders and other lurid storylines already occurring. His point was that maybe it's not that much different than the NFL. He noted that for all of the dirt one could throw at a football league run by a wrestling company, the NFL and college football have had their dalliances with the dark side as well of late. The writer pondered the XFL's chances for success by saying that no one ever thought that NASCAR would be more popular than the Indianapolis 500, but it is, so you can't count the XFL out. In the article, they quoted former WWWF champion Bruno Sammartino. Bruno is anything but friendly with the WWF boss, and blames McMahon for what has become of the wrestling business, saying it's not fit for kids to watch. About the XFL, Bruno said, "When the Super Bowl's over, that's it for me until next season; I'm done. Well, I might just take a look at that first game, see what he's up to now." The article made a point of saying that just as the wrestling business that Sammartino was an integral figure in bears little resemblance to the wrestling business of today, years down the road, it's possible that the XFL and the NFL will become synonymous to fans. http://www.nytimes.com/2001/01/28/sports/28LIPS.html?pagewanted=all ______________________________________________________________________ [Parting Chair Shot] Remember, tell your friends about nWN - naidO's Wrestling News today! **Missed any TV Shows?
