The Gazette said that the WWF wanted Lemieux to do an angle with WWF champ Kurt Angle, who is a Pittsburgh native. (1wrestling) ______________________________________________________________________ [News from The WWF] **Sean Morely (Val Venis) and Adam Copeland (Edge) were both given the weekend off for the funeral of Morely's mother, who is also be Copeland's mother-in-law. **Chris Jericho has updated his commentary over at chrisjericho.com. This week he speaks about his brutal ladder match from the Royal Rumble, his favorite opponents, and more. Chris also has a special message concerning Goldberg coming to the WWF. To read this, click http://www.chrisjericho.com/commentary.htm **The only match official for the 2/25 No Way Out PPV is HHH vs. Steve Austin, with the contract signing angle taking place Monday night on Raw from Pittsburgh. We're expecting the next two matches from the top to be Angle vs. Rock for the WWF title and Undertaker & Kane vs. Rikishi & Haku, although neither is official at this point. **The current issue of Entertainment Weekly contains quite a few references to the WWF: First, in a "Must List Television" portion, they cite the XFL as a highly anticipated "program," writing "I'm no football fan, but there's no way I'm not checking out wrestling czar Vince McMahon's bang-'n'-cruch version of pigskin pummeling." Second, not really a reference to the company but a quick blurb about "WWF's The Rock" appearing in The Mummy Returns. And the one that caught my eye the most, in their April Calendar, they mark April 1st as the day Wrestlemania 17 comes out (with an accompanying picture of Austin vs. Rock...premonition or coincidence?). They've been making lots of references to the XFL, actually, and I even saw ESPN talk about it a bit during their Super Bowl coverage today. Vince has got to be happy with how much attention it's garnering, even if it all isn't shining. **Chyna was on Howard Stern Friday morning. Howard asked her why she badmouthed him in her new book. Chyna denied saying anything bad about him. She said she was surprised that he took her comments serious since she was in character last time she was on the show. Chyna detailed being raped by two men in college when she was passed out. Howard made fun of Chyna for being masculine. **"WWF: The Music, Vol. V will be released on Feb. 20. The American list price is $14.99 and features The Rock holding a pie on the front cover. The CD is available for pre-oder at the WWF website. This does not mean he is yet under contract, but is expected to be soon. Tajiri was also contacted by WCW but felt insulted when the company wanted him to work a "try-out" match. **Showing his loyalty to ECW and Paul Heyman, Dave Scherer reports Rhino isn't willing to sign a WWF deal until the future of ECW is clear. Apparently, there is a deal on the table from the WWF for Rhino. **Sandman returns to Viking Hall (ECW Arena) on 2/3, but this time with Jersey All Pro Wrestling. Sandman will also appear for JAP on 2/2 in Bayonne, NJ at Charity Hall.
