Tell your friends about the BEST newsletter around to subscribe today! **Click for the SmackDown! results: http://www.naidosworld.com/tvsmackdown.html - Smackdown was a fair show. It's the WWF's usually cruise into a PPV with amassive tag team main event extravaganza to heat up the respective feuds. They did a fair job. My favorite PPV out of the hundred every year seems to be the Rumble so I hope the Fed doesn't disappoint me. **Until tomorrow, enjoy this latest edition of nWN! - naidO nWN Founder - http://www.geocities.com/naidosnews ______________________________________________________________________ [TOP NEWS STORY] As we all know Canadian wrestling fans did not get to see (for better or for worse) the Sid injury that was shown on Monday Nitro on TNT. It was The Sports Network (TSN) not Syndicate Inc (the rights holder for WCW in Canada) who decided to not air the footage. Syndicate sent the entire edition of Nitro (including the Sid injury footage) to TSN who decided it was not appropriate for airing. Many have pointed out the hypocrisy of this as TSN regularly show football injuries, hockey fights and aired the Marty McSorley/ Donald Brashear incident an infinite number of times. (The LAW) ______________________________________________________________________ [News from The WWF] **This afternoon at 2 PM, the WWF will be holding a press conference in Washington DC to announce their future plans for their Smackdown Your Vote project. Kurt Angle, Linda McMahon and Debra are scheduled to participate in this event. In a related story, the WWF will be holding a party tonight at Club Insomnia in Washington DC to celebrate their involvement in politics. Guests for this event include Kurt Angle, Debra, DJ Skribble, MTV's Erica Terry and the President-elect's nephew George P. Bush. Fans wanting to attend the party can purchase tickets at Ticketmaster or at the club. **Tazz was on MTV's new show "TRL Presents: VJ For A Day." He cut a promo talking about the host being nervous about Tazz and that he should be nervous because he could take the show if he wanted to. But he was in a good mood so he wouldn't do that. Tazz plugged "WWF Tough Enough." Apparently Tazz will be the trainer for the wrestlers the competition. Tazz told the contestants introducing the video to be tough. He plugged "Tough Enough" again and kayfabed with the fans before going to commercial break. Tazz came off very funny. **Lita will be posing in an upcoming edition of Teen People magazine. The magazine will be released in April. Besides the photos in the magazine Lita will have an in-depth interview. **The latest issue of Business 2.0 has an extensive article analyzing the pros and cons of the World Wrestling Federation's entry into the world of professional football with the XFL. To read this article, just click http://business2.com/content/magazine/indepth/2001/01/15/24709 **The WWF has published an interesting feature article on Lo' Down, where Chaz and D'Lo Brown explain how frustrating it is not getting enough time on WWF programming. To read the article, go to: http://www.wwf.com/news/headlines/1028798 **Last night's Smackdown drew a 6.1 overnight metered-market rating with a 9.0 share. **During an interview on the Chairshots radio program last night, Bobby Eaton announced that he has been hired to help train some of the WWF's developmental talent in Memphis. **Reader Dave Whitaker sent along the following link to an interview with Sean "Val Venis" Morley. The interview is the full transcript of a story that had appeared, in abridged form, in The Queen's University Journal in Ontario, Canada. The interview covers facets of his wrestling career and his opinion on the WWF's responsibility to its viewers, but also shares his views and opinions on political issues, giving a new insight into his the real person, not just the Venis character. Whether you agree with his views or not, it is an interesting read. You can check it out by clicking http://www.queensjournal.com/features.htm **Some highlights of Stephanie McMahon's appearance this afternoon on the Opie & Anthony radio show in New York. This is the same show that a few months back had all the controversy with the racial stuff involving Rock. - She said HHH would win the title on Sunday. - She said Shane McMahon is doing a lot of production work off camera lately - She has not seen the internet photos of herself from when Steve Austin ripped of her shirt - She's dieting and working out more since she's so visible on camera - She loves playing a heel rather than a face - She said Chyna looked hot in Playboy - She hasn't received any offers from adult magazines to pose - She insinuated there may be some surprises in the rumble - She had Fabulous Moolah is doing well after her angioplasty - She said things don't look good for Big Show in the company - She said she did't know about Shawn Michaels' return (Cred: 1wrestling, the Law, Ultimo & Dave Meltzer) _______________ [News from WCW] **Thunder did a 2.2 rating, with a 3.3 share. The show did hours of 2.2 and 2.2, so it was pretty consistent. **Yesterday on his sports radio show in Pittsburgh, PA, Mark Madden hinted that at the end of the month (when he gets his last pay check) he will have plenty to say about WCW. We'll wait until the end of the month for what Madden has to offer. **WCW was hoping to book a match between Goldberg and Sean O'Haire, but due to the retirement angle, their plans have been put on hold. Several people within the company are extremely impressed with O'Haire and believe that a match between him and Goldberg is worthy of highlighting a pay-per-view. Hogan claimed he would be playing bass guitar for Metallica on a few of their tour stops this year. Hogan, before getting into wrestling, played bass guitar in the Tampa night club scene. Legend has it that he was discovered while playing bass and getting into an altercation with Jack and Gerald Brisco, who sent him to Hiro Matsuda, who, as things were done in those days, broke his ankle the first day of training. **A new book entitled "The Buzz on Professional Wrestling" by Scott Keith, will be released at the beginning of February by Lebhar- Friedman Books. OR "THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF GOOD OLD ERIC" The Scene: The West Coast offices of EWCW (where the seeds of ideas are planted). Its new President, Good Old Eric (GOE), is on the phone dialing his boss, the CEO of EWCW, in the East Coast Headquarters offices of EWCW (where ulcers are born). GOE: Good morning, Boss. How you doing? Boss: (Thinking to himself - Damn, not again!! I have got to get Call Screening). It's down to 10 degrees, windy as hell, snowing like crazy, I've got the F'N flu, can't breathe and my nose is running like hell. I couldn't be doing better if I tried. How the F do you think I'm doing? GOE: Sorry to hear that Boss. You ought to move out here. It's 83 degrees and the sun is shining bright. A hell of a day. BOSS: (To himself - &^$#@%**^##) GOE: I have great news. BOSS: What's it going to cost us? GOE: (Chuckling) Good one. No, I mean I spoke to McMahon and ... BOSS: YOU SPOKE TO McMAHON? VINCE McMAHON? GOE: Yeah. We got along just fine. BOSS: (Thinking to himself - Why the F did I get into this?) You spoke to McMahon? He talked to you? GOE: Yup. He wasn't real pleased at first, but I explained that I really never meant any of the things I said. I told him it was all Uncle Ted's doing. That I always had the utmost respect for him. He had me wait a minute until got Linda to join us and then put me on the speaker. BOSS: (Thinking to himself - This is going to cost us a bundle) (Shaking his head) He put you on the speaker? And Linda was the ONLY other one there? GOE: Yup, just Linda. I never realized how good a sense of humor Linda has. She was full of laughs the entire call. Did you know she is a hell of an entertainer. She can do the voices of everyone in The WWF. BOSS: (Reaches in his desk for a bottle of Maalox and swigs most of it down) Give it to me. What happened? (Swigs the rest down as he reaches for his bottle of Bufferin and takes four with the Maalox). GOE: I got him to agree to a joint WCW / WWF PPV. BOSS: (To himself - Oh sh*t) What did you have to promise him and I hate to ask, but 'What is it going to cost?' GOE: Gee Boss, you really don't trust me, do you? BOSS: (To himself - He is finally getting it) Of course I trust you. How much is it going to cost us? GOE: Relax, Boss. You're going to love it. BOSS: (To himself - Yeah, like a double hernia). GOE: (Continuing) He agree to split everything, Gate, PPV Revenue, everything, 50/50; only thing we have to pick up transportation and hotels. I figured that wont be a problem because he agreed to hold it at the Riviera... BOSS: (As his face goes ashen white) Listen very carefully: Did he say "at" the Riviera, or "ON" the Riviera? GOE: I really don't recall his exact word. BOSS: Damn. Didn't you know that McMahon owns a villa on THE FRENCH RIVE. . . GOE: (After a moment of silence) Hey Boss. You there? What will it cost us? Boss? Boss? You there? Boss? What's all that noise? Boss, you there.
