The doctors wanted him to put some weight on his leg to help aid with the fusion in his bone. He was up two times yesterday and the doctors were pleased with his progress, given the severity of the injury. The doctors were actually hopeful that he could be out of the cast within a month, and that he may even leave the hospital today. That is amazing progress given how incredibly bad his injury was. Wayne watching NITRO: "Well, WCW may have given the audience fair warning about the graphic nature of Sid's injury footage, but they didn't say a damn thing to the crowd in Fort Wayne. There were about five thousand people (yeah the crowd was light) who were waiting for action and suddenly they saw Sid's leg snap like a toothpick on the huge Nitrovision screen. Not only did we see it snap, we saw it snap from different angles and in slow motion. My leg still hurts from seeing that. I guess they wanted the horrified gasps from the crowd to enhance the footage and they sure got them. It was a bizarre moment." **All friends of Eric Bischoff say that he is entering this stint in charge of WCW differently than the others. Money will be tighter and it's likely he has personal financial incentives to be as efficient with expenditures as possible. Bischoff so far has handled himself professionally and impressed those who have dealt with him. His partners with Fusient are also said to be "good guys" and "smart guys" by anyone who has dealt with them, and they are aware of Bischoff's strengths and weaknesses in the past. The wrestlers in WCW are giving Bischoff a chance - from top to bottom - to reward them for loyalty and hard work. There is a sense of skepticism by many (in some cases strong skepticism from being burned before), but also a strong sense of hope and a feeling that Bischoff deserves a clean slate. (Cred: ultimo) ______________________________________________________________________ [Article] 13 year old trying to avoid 25 year sentence **The Associated Press reports that Lionel Tate, the 13 year old who beat to death a six-year-old girl, says in court that he was immitating pro wrestling. Highlights of the report by Terry Spencer: -Lionel Tate, 13, smashed Tiffany Eunick's skull, pulverized her liver, broke a rib and caused numerous cuts and bruises, prosecutor Ken Padowitz said in opening statements at Tate's first-degree murder trial. "Tiffany Eunick was beaten to death." -Tate, who was 12 at the time and weighed 170 pounds, is being tried as an adult and faces a mandatory 25-year sentence with no parole if convicted. -Defense attorney Jim Lewis said the 1999 death was an accident. "Lionel didn't understand that he could hurt the 48-pound girl if he punched her and threw her because he had seen pro wrestlers do that hundreds of times without injuring each other,'' said Lewis "This was child's play and unfortunately child's play is sometimes dangerous." -Lewis, who has said before that Lionel has the intelligence of an 8- year-old, tried unsuccessfully to force wrestling stars such as The Rock Johnson and Hulk Hogan to testify. The World Wrestling Federation is suing Lewis for libel for linking the girl's death to pro wrestling. The story is getting national attention in a number of media outlets, but the tone of most reports isn't taking sides since neither the WWF nor Tate are especially sympathetic figures. (Yahoo!
