The winner of that match will receive a WWF title shot on 1/8 RAW. - Acolytes & Billy Gunn vs Bull Buchanan, Goodfather & Val Venis. - Raven will defend his Hardcore title against Tazz. - Angle, Edge & Christian vs Jericho & The Dudleys in a tables match. - Chris Benoit will defend his Intercontinental title against Test. - Hardy Boys vs Kaientai. - Steve Austin vs William Regal. ______________________________________________________________________ [News from the WWF] **Many experts say that by the end of this year, the Federation's official Web site will be the most visited sports-entertainment site on the Internet with 300 million page views each month. **The Internet has been speculating whether or not Rikishi was really injured when he took the fall of off the hell in a cell at the WWF's last pay-per-view, known as Armageddon. Rikishi didn't appear on WWF programming until this week's Raw because he was merely selling his injuries and also needed time to help heal other nagging injuries that were not associated with the hell in the cell match. **WrestleMania tickets haven't been doing as well as the WWF as planned thus far. However, the general consensus is that ticket sales will begin to pick up as the event draws near. With WrestleMania being the biggest wrestling show of the year and rumors of the return of Shawn Michaels, the WWF should not have a problem selling the rest of the remaining tickets. **Armageddon has said to have drawn a 1.15 buyrate, which would equal around 465,000 buys. **According to Alan Smolek, from WrestlingObserver.com, WWF Livewire announced that Vince McMahon would be on hand at WWF Raw is War to get revenge on Stone Cold Steve Austin for what he did to his daughter, Stephanie. However, Vince only was at Raw via speakerphone according to the spoilers, but the WWF could always insert a new part into the show for New Year's. (Cred: Powerwrestling, wrestlingobserver) _______________ [News from WCW] **WCW isn't allowing Jeff Jarrett to go to Puerto Rico and face Carly Colon. WCW didn't want him to go there, probably because WCW stopped letting their wrestlers work for other companies, and letting Jarrett go to PR created a big fuss **Mark Madden is saying on his website that for reasons he cant go into (the obvious, lawsuits) he won't be discussing his situation for a few weeks, but he does go on to say that things are happening behind the scenes. Again, take it with a grain of salt... (Cred: Power wrestling) _______________ [News from ECW] **Here are the results from ECW Hardcore TV, which aired on 12/30: - Doring and Roadkill over Da Baldies. - Hot Commodity over Balls Mahoney & Nova - Jerry Lynn over Christian York. **ECW's Sandman recently sat down with Jeff the Ref from the Wrestling Love Hotline to speak about his career, his injuries, going to another federation, and lots more. To read the report and see the tons of photos recently added to the site check out HardcoreIcon.com! (Cred: ECW website) __________________ [In other news...] **The World Wrestling Council is attempting to contact a major star, which may be announced on 1/1, to replace Jeff Jarrett for the 1/5 to 1/7 weekend after WCW pulled Jarrett from the show. They have been trying to get throught to both Mike Rotunda and Sabu, but the name being bandied about the most at the moment is Randy Savage. **Bret Hart's latest Calgary Sun column is now online at SLAM! Wrestling. This week, Bret talks about his thoughts on the return of Mario Lemieux. To read the entire column, http://www.canoe.ca/SlamWrestling/hitman_home.html **Just to keep in perspective how impressive wrestling's ratings are in comparison with other sports, ESPN was trumpeting the rating that they scored last Wednesday for their telecast of the return to hockey of Mario Lemieux (which was, incidentally, a momentous occasion). The return of Super Mario doubled the rating that ESPN usually scored for an average telecast and brought in a 1.0 rating. So, that means that NHL hockey on ESPN usually does a 0.5. That makes the 5.0 ratings that the WWF very impressive, and the 2.0 to 2.5s that WCW does pretty damn good as well. For reference, last I heard, the NBA on TNT and TBS was averaging under a 1.0 as well. **If you are interested in playing XFL Fantasy Football, you can do so on Sandbox.com. Sandbox.com offers fantasy games for most sports including Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Racing as well as many others. As you can see, the XFL is actually being taken seriously as a sport, which probably is surprising to many people. The matches are: - Steve Corino vs. Sandman vs. Justin Credible in a "Tables, Ladders, Chairs and Canes" match. - Danny Doring and Roadkill vs. Hot Commodity for the ECW Tag Team Titles. - Tommy Dreamer vs. C.W. Anderson in an "I Quit" match. - Yoshihiro Tajiri and Mikey Whipwreck vs. Super Crazy and Kid Kash vs. The FBI to determine the number one contenders for the ECW Tag Team Titles. - Jerry Lynn and Cyrus vs. Joey Matthews and Christian York. - Nova, Balls Mahoney, Dawn Marie, Simon Diamond and Swinger will also appear on the show. Also, ECW is stating that Paul Heyman promises a surprise that is guaranteed to change the face of ECW. ______________________________________________________________________ [Article] Mike Tyson to wrestle? Nikkan Sports is reporting that Antonio Inoki is attempting to broker a match between former NWA World and judo champion Naoya Ogawa and Boxing great Mike Tyson for later this year. Nikkan is reporting that contact was made between the two sides while Tyson's contingent was in Great Britain for a recent fight. Inoki may meet with Tyson's management again in the United States if it appears they can come to a financial agreement for the appearance. The report notes that while Tyson's next scheduled appearance is taking on Lennox Lewis for the IBF World championship later this year (actually I don't think that fight has been set but Tyson did at one point claim retirement in order to make Lewis' camp rush as they feared they would miss the big payday), he did make several appearances for the WWF in 1998. The feeling is that Inoki is looking to recreate the infamous fight between himself and Muhammad Ali in Japan, which was broadcast via closed circuit around the world. Although the two sides had come up with a finish before the fight, Ali's camp balked, leading to the two sides going into the ring taking part in a legitimate shoot. Ogawa defeated Tadao Yasuda in just over a minute yesterday on Antonio Inoki's New Year's Eve event in Osaka in a pro wrestling contest. ______________________________________________________________________ [Parting Chair Shot] Remember, tell your friends about nWN - naidO's Wrestling News today! **Missed any TV Shows?
