The video is hosted by Mick Foley and is a photo shoot that was taken in the Dominican Republic with Tori, Ivory, Terri, Kat and Trish Stratus. (wwf.com) ______________________________________________________________________ [News from the WWF] **New and notes from the latest Ross Report: - Lita's back exam resulted in good news for the young superstar and her condition is improving and will not require surgery. - X-Pac should be back prior to the Royal Rumble. His neck condition is improving and will continue to do so if the youngster really gets serious about his physical therapy and hitting the gym regularly. - There are no plans to utilize Mark Henry or the Big Show in this year's Rumble. However, both are getting into better condition and continue to drop the pounds. - Dean Malenko is having knee problems, but he is still scheduled to be at TV, and is expected to continue his interaction with Lita. Malenko's MRI results are not available as I write this. - The Rock has been invited to be a presenter at this year's NAACP Image Awards TV broadcast, to be held Feb. 3. Rock will join Michael Jordan and Denzel Washington at the event. - I expect to speak with Shawn Michaels soon about his future in the World Wrestling Federation, and the possibility of performing in another match, or perhaps more in 2001. - The World Wrestling Federation is going all out to promote Chyna's upcoming book, which is due out in late January. Several high-profile opportunities have been discussed, including lots of cable and network TV appearances. - It looks as if this year's Royal Rumble card will feature five matches plus the Rumble, which will have competitors entering the fray every two minutes. Of course, this is subject to change, much like the weather. - Triple H, Chyna, the Dudley Boyz, Trish Stratus, Lita and Raven will all be a part of UPN's Press Day in Los Angeles next Friday. The Dudleys will also be in Las Vegas on Saturday, Jan. 6, to do some promotional work with the XFL. - Steven Richards and Ivory will be at WWF New York on Jan. 7. Trish struts her stuff in Times Square on Jan. 14, and the APA on Jan. 28. - The World Wrestling Federation will be represented at the NAPTE TV convention next month in Las Vegas - including Triple H, Chyna, Ivory, Tazz, The Kat, Too Cool and J.R. - Chris Jericho and Eddie Guerrero will be doing some promotional work for our pals at Gallery Furniture in Houston over the next several weeks. Eddie will be good to go at the Rumble. - The King just received his copy of Penthouse magazine, which featured a nice write-up by Bryan Alvarez on TV commentators in our business. I find it funny that the King got his photo in Penthouse before The Kat! And thank goodness my broadcast partner was clothed! Thanks, Bryan, for the kind words. - I fully expect the "journalists" of the sports world to absolutely hammer the broadcast teams of the XFL throughout the season. Knocking Jesse Ventura is an easy lay-up for these pundits, and the other XFL broadcasters will provide fresh meat for these folks to chew up and spit out. But, of course, they are always fair and informed about the subjects of which they assault - er, write about. **WWF Smackdown! on 12/28 did a 3.8 rating with a 6 share off half hours of 3.1, 3.6, 3.9 and 4.4. **The Dark Horizons movie website, www.darkhorizons.com, has shot down the rumor making the rounds regarding The Rock being cast as Beast in the upcoming X-Men movie. The site also denies the rumors that Val Kilmer and Natalie Portman were cast for the film. **If the Lycos search engine did include wrestlers in the Sports Stars category, Sable would have been no. 2, Trish Stratus would have been no. 3, Rock would have been no. 4, and Chyna would have been no. 6 for 2000. He is not expected to miss any in-ring action. (Cred: LWN) _______________ [News from ECW] **C.W. Anderson is back after a two week absence from getting his clock cleaned with his latest "Spinebuster" commentary. CW gives his opinion on The Dudley's, chats about his match with Super Crazy, serves notice to Tommy Dreamer and has some personal notes that you have to read to believe. All at ECWAnderson.com! (Cred: ) __________________ [In other news...] **Chris Candido and Tamara Lynn Sytch have indeed signed a one-year deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling that will officially go into effect in the month of March. (Cred: 1wrestling) ______________________________________________________________________ [Column] Screw Job Of the Year What a year we've had huh? I was trying to watch some wrestling this week but with Christmas and all it became very difficult, so i was forced to go back and pick a screw job of the year and well there was some good stuff. Scott Hall screwing up his life, the ongoing mess that WCW is in, New Jack screwing Justin Credible out of the ECW championship and Triple H screwing Austin and revealing that he is still the main heel in the WWF. Well speaking of Triple H back for those months hen he was a semi-face he pulled one of the funniest moments in wrestling history, so with that I award him the Screw Job Of The Year. What am I talking about? Well its the night on RAW when Triple H had that video of Kurt Angle crying and acting all gay and with the help of Mick Foley they made Kurt a laughing stock that night, that one spot has never left my mind all year so its only fair that I make it the Screw Job Of the Year. Ted Cabata tcabata@roanoke.edu AOL IM: Frogs 11 ______________________________________________________________________ [Column] Rounding the Squared Circle "THE CORONERS VERDICT: SUICIDE" OR "HOW TO MAKE A BAD SITUATION WORSE IN ONE EASY LESSON" I hadn't planned on writing an Article today, but after reading a most disturbing news item, I decided I would. A very old friend of mine has been quite ill lately. Several months ago he was put on advanced life support and was being kept alive by artificial means. Nothing the doctors did seemed to help much. They brought in who they thought were the best available people in the world in an attempt to save his life. Most of my friends money had been pissed away over the years by his custodians. They squandered it trying to surround him with people that they believed would cheer him up and thus save him. They failed miserably and he sunk deeper into the coma he has been in. Today his current custodian may have dealt him the final blow, one as fatal as pulling the plug on him. What was this potential fatal blow? They are putting a man who most people consider as useless as t*ts to a bull at the mic; a man who ranks just ahead of Dirtbag Doophus Page on the list of Ten Most Useless Pieces Of Trash To Ever Enter The Squared Circle; the only luchadore who can't find his way to top turnbuckle using a road map, and if he accidentally got there, would fall on his fat ass; a man whose whole career was built around uttering a few words hardly anyone cares about and a rolling (when you're built like him, rolling comes natural) clothes line. Yup, it's everybody's favorite Kucharacha (sp.), Konnan. In the history of stupid moves, this has to be a contender for the top spot. WCW's rationale: Stevie "Ize do be da top sucka, sucka" Ray is a hit and they are going to build on that. Konnan is replacing Man Mountain Mark, who was sent back to his regular job in Pittsburgh because he said a few things he shouldn't have. He says he didn't; they say he did. Who knows? Who cares? What we do know is he said a few things that old (and old he is) Dirtbag didn't like. Let's check the scoreboard: Dirtbag upset with Man Mountain - Man Mountain is canned; Dirtbag upset with Poppa Steroid - Gets ass kicked, kisses and makes up. Poppa still employed. Anyone see a bit of a pattern here? Seems like old Dirtbag is having a problem playing nice with others. Immediate Result: Konnan; Long Term Result: Another long nail in WCW's coffin. Even the bookers over in the WWF couldn't do a better job on WCW. Seems they have decided hari kari is the honorable way out and they are taking it. Cards, flowers, whatever, can be sent to Uncle Ted, c/o The Acme Mortuary and Sheep Sheering Company, Division of The Acme Corporation, Beautiful Downtown Lower Dudleyville. RIP old friend.
