STRONG show. **Until tomorrow, enjoy this latest edition of nWN! - naidO nWN Founder - http://www.geocities.com/naidosnews ______________________________________________________________________ [TOP NEWS STORY] **With rumors of the sale of WCW running rampant, one thing is for certain: One way or another, the company will have a new owner very soon because the Federal Trade Commission unanimously approved today the deal where America Online would acquire Time Warner, WCW's parent company. Despite lobbying from other entertainment companies, like Walt Disney, the FTC approved the merger by a 5-0 margin. The deal still must pass through the Federal Communications Commission, but most insiders feel it is basically a done deal and should happen by early next year. Meanwhile, rumors still persist heavily that despite whatever happens with AOL buying WCW, the company will then be sold to an outside group very soon. Again, we have heard this story for a while, but it seems to have a lot of teeth to it. The impetus for Time Warner to get rid of WCW is closing in now that the acquisition appears to be at hand. AOL is a bottom-line oriented company and they will not agree to pad the losses that WCW has incurred. With WCW running very limited television through the end of the year, now is the perfect time for Time Warner/AOL to sell it since it would give new owners some breathing room to take over.
