She also said that WWF New York restaurant in Times Square in New York took in $17 million in its first year and that they are also in the process of setting up their first WWF office abroad (they already have an office in Toronto). (The Law) ______________________________________________________________________ [News from the WWF] **The barbeque sauce that Jim Ross has been promoting for years it seems now is now available at WWFShopzone.com **Shawn Michaels will be the special host of the WWF New York presentation of the "Armageddon" PPV on 12/10. **The Undertaker will be the guest on the WWF.com show "Byte This" 12/7 TODAY! **The World Wrestling Federation has signed Ultimate University trainee and the "World's Stongest Man" Champion Nathan Jones to a developmental deal. Jones will continue to train and work with Ultimate Pro Wrestling in California until he is ready. Jones is 6'11 and weighs in at 350 lbs. (Cred: The Law) _______________ [News from WCW] **WCW wrestlers Scott Steiner, Buff Bagwell and Booker T will be appearing in some upcoming television shows. - Steiner and Booker taped an episode of "The Jersey", which airs on the Disney Network. - Bagwell, along with Steiner and Booker, has taped an episode of The WB's "Charmed" that will air on 2/1, 2001. (Cred: The Law) _______________ [News from ECW] **Dave Meltzer is reporting that Steve Corino injured his elbow and received two black eyes at the ECW "Massacre on 34th Street" PPV. **According to ECWwrestling.com, ECW will once again invade the USA Network show Farmclub.com. The "ECW Video of the Week" will air this coming Friday, December 8th at 11pm and again the next night at midnight and will feature clips of Mikey Whipwreck, Yoshihiro Tajiri and The FBI. **Sabu and ECW were supposed to meet in court this month to sort out legal problems, which stated that Sabu was still under ECW contract. On Wednesday Paul Heyman officially released Sabu from ECW. Here is an official statement from Sabu's manager: "Sabu has officially been released from ECW. All pending court cases have dropped and he's officially a free agent." (Cred: The Law, SabuOnline) __________________ [In other news...] **Dave Meltzer reports Scott Hall will work an Ultimate Pro Wrestling show on December 20 in Santa Ana, California. Joining Hall on the card are Juventud Guerrera, Psicosis, Chase Tatum and The Hardy Boys. WWF scouts frequently attend UPW shows for new talent. **Monday Night Football scored it's second lowest rating ever this past Monday night, doing a 9.9 broadcast rating. That means a few things to wrestling. For one thing, I think wrestling's ratings should have been higher. For another, it doesn't bode well for XFL ratings, which the WWF reportedly expects to be at least a 5.0 on NBC. (Cred: The Law, 1Wrestling) ______________________________________________________________________ [Column] Vile Thoughts - by The Vile Kind of a slow week, huh? Not much to talk about, what with another pay-per-view. I know, it seems like there was just one last week, but that's the wrestling biz. One thing I saw this week troubled me greatly. Why the hell were the Dudley's dressed up like Right to Censor? I know nothing is official, but if it is somehow true, that the Dudley's are a part of this crap, then I have seen it all. I have really come to the end of the line with this poor excuse for sucking up. I mean, sure it started as a joke: Steve Richards had bombed out in every other gimmick, so let's try something new. And at the same time, we can poke fun at Bruce Bozo and the PTC. At first, it was comical: wrestling is evil, we're fighting the good fight, yadda yadda yadda... Now, it seems like the only joke is how the Mighty and All Knowing Vince keeps bowing down to these fascists. In the public eye, Vince has put up a "good front". He has said all the right things "We're no worse than other programming, it's a witch hunt, Brent Bozell is a fascist, etc etc etc.... Meanwhile, the very fabric of his show has changed over the past six months. Racy angles are way down. (Note-Lita/Malenko isn't racy; it's a cheap rip-off of Chyna and Mark Henry) The bleep button has been polished off, and used overtime, and except for a few incidents, there are less backstage assaults. (Let me rephrase that-We see the end result: someone lying on the ground after the damage has been done.) One of the most heinous acts may have been at the last pay-per-view. When Road Dogg and K-Kwick came out, the Dogg asked "Oh, you didn't know? Well, you better ask somebody!" What the hell is that? Now, it looks like the most sacred act of the Dudley's; putting their hapless opponents through tables may be on the way out as well. All of this to appease people that don't even watch the show anyway. But they write the checks: and after all, this is what America is all about: The Greenbacks. I never thought I would see Vince let anyone tell him how to run his business. But that might just be what's going on right now. So Vince, here's a few suggestions on how to spice things up a bit more... When the Accolytes come back, we certainly can't have them drinking beer and beating up people for money. Why not make them into insurance salesmen. Then they could be the Afflacs. Stone Cold can't be guzzling beer all the time; it sets a bad example. Why not have him chug down a nice frosty Fresca after he does his thing? Road Dogg and K-Kwik shouldn't be rapping; many of the lyrics are vulgar. Why not get a couple of partners for them, and form a nice barbershop quartet? The Undertaker certainly can't be chewing tobacco on TV. Might I suggest some refreshing "Big League Chew?" Anyway, you get the idea. Now I'm not saying that wrestling has to be vulgar and violent to be successful. But I do think it smacks of hypocrasy when on the one hand VK chastises Bozo and the PTC, and then makes changes to his programming to be more "sponsor friendly." Those are my thoughts. You might think I'm being too harsh on the old guy; that's okay. I just want him to be consistent. No more, no less. One last word: For anyone who hasn't sent in their ballot for the Vile Achievement Awards, do so ASAP. The deadline is Saturday. And make your plans early for the Awards show. Black tie mandatory. VILE'S TOTALLY ANAL TRIVIA: Theron Scranton and RanmaSolo both correctly identified Debra McMichael Austin as Goldberg's first manager. Goldberg feuded w/her estranged husband Mongo, and even got possession of his Super Bowl ring. And we know that's the closest he ever got to one because he was a Falcon. This week's question: The Midnight Express was one of the most revered teams of the last part of the century. Oddly enough, there have been 6 different wrestlers that were part of the Midnight Express. Name them all, and I want nicknames too.
