The rest of the awards were made up of mostly cartoon shows. There wasn't a show "most aware of family values." **TNN announced yesterday that they will be the exclusive cable home of the new XFL, airing games every Sunday afternoon beginning on February 11 and concluding on April 8. The XFL, of course, is owned by the WWF and NBC. Goldberg doesn't want to take time off right now because both Sting and Booker T are out with injuries themselves. He mentioned that when he does take the time off for the surgery, he hopes he will only be out for a short while. Goldberg also said that Kevin Nash has been working hurt lately as well. **A report posted this afternoon on the Pro Wrestling Torch website that says Columbia Tri-Star is involved in a group being put together by Eric Bischoff to purchase WCW is not true according to a source very close to the situation. Our source tells us the story is absolutely and categorically false. "If someone fed him that information, he needs to get better sources," our insider told us. As reported earlier, the Torch also erroneously reported last night that Eric Bischoff had met with Brad Siegel yesterday in "make-or- break" negotiations to finalize a purchase of the company. Bischoff went on record with us to deny meeting with Siegel. **Buff Bagwell reportedly threw a huge fit backstage at Nitro on Monday due to the way his match with Scott Steiner, which airs on Thunder tomorrow night, was booked. There was a spot set up to give Buff offense but the cue was missed, and Buff was reportedly pretty miffed about it. **Lance Storm has posted his latest column at www.stormwrestling.com. It was a column that he wrote a while ago. Due to his injured rib cage, he didn't write a new one this week, but as always, it's a good read! As for Lance, he will probably not wrestle for the next week or so while he allows the injury to heal. He will still be at TV though. Bass suffered flu symptoms last week, but it turned more serious when she had a very high fever and stomach cramps. Doctors have seen some improvement in her condition since the weekend. We'll keep you updated. **Rena Mero is back in the news. (Cred: 1Wrestling) ______________________________________________________________________ [Article] Turner Exec: It may be a better strategy to sell WCW In an article featured in today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Turner Broadcasting's President Steve Heyer stated that there is a plan to rejuvenate WCW, but a better strategy may be to sell it. Here is the article: Turner Broadcasting System, once cable TV's top body slammer, may exit the wrestling business amid a continued ratings slide for its World Championship Wrestling. But Turner networks would continue airing WCW programming even if the Smyrna-based operation is sold, Steve Heyer, Turner's president and chief operating officer, said. He stressed that the company also is considering alternatives, including teaming with a company with expertise in producing arena events -- a crucial step in building wrestling's cable and pay-per- view TV audiences. "It isn't performing to our expectations," Heyer said of WCW. "While we have a plan in place to rejuvenate it, it may be a better strategy for us to sell it." Even in its depressed state, WCW provided two of the seven top-rated programs for Turner networks last month. Dirtbag Doofus Page and Kevin Nash win the WCW straps. Well, break out the Metamucil. Remember the days when feuds were developed, not schlocked together in the span of about 10 days? Oops. Sorry. Forgot about Strike Force. In a related development Scott Hall, upon hearing the news of his buddies' success, got swacked AGAIN, and got into a car accident. There is no truth to the rumor that along with him for the ride were Ted Kennedy, Darryl Strawberry, John Daly, and Robert Downey Jr. Big Poppa Pump is the new WCW Champ. Why not? He's paid his dues, he gets great heat, and he's jacked up on 'roids. Now, how to get him over as champion? How about a surprise opponent for the 17,896 th time? Who would it be? Hogan? Sting? Jim Hellwig? Mae Young? I admit it, I watched the end of Nitro; it's like having to stop to look at a roadside accident. You just have to. What loser did we get this time? Ladies and gentlemen! Fresh off of his triumphant tour of the beer- leagues: SOFTBALL SID!!! In the world of Emperor Vince, things are a little more normal, but I'm really starting to wonder if putting the belt on Angle was a good idea. Now hold on; I'm a big Angle fan, and seeing him in the spotlight is OK with me. It just seems like they don't know what to do with him right now. It also seems like people are more interested in Austin/HHH than anything the Olympic Hero/Zero does right now. Maybe that goes back to that roadside accident thing. I mean we all like carnage, right? Anyway, I digress. Nice to see that Hardcore Holly has rehabbed quite nicely from that broken wing. For a guy that's also pretty racked up on the 'roid juice, he does throw a pretty dropkick, doesn't he? Shades of Jumpin Jim Brunzell. It's also nice to see Billy Gunn doing well since his return. I've always liked his ring style, although he is a bit weak on the mic. Something has to be done about his new nickname. As Sam Jerry asked, 'The One what?' Makes me think of a diet cola. Why not just call him B.A. Billy Gunn? Is it just me, or have the Hart family become the new millenium version of the Von Erichs? Owen dies in a senseless, tragic accident. Bret suffers an in-ring injury that ends his career. Jim Neidhart and Davey Boy Smith alienate their wives from the rest of the Harts in a futile attempt to revive their dead careers. Now Davey tries to go Orenthal on his estranged wife. This was considered one of the greatest wrestling families EVER. Now, they're a shambles. And lastly, to Vince, Shane, Steph, and Linda. I heard you are negotiating with Torrie Wilson. Santa must have forwarded my Christmas list to you. Well, got to go. My nephew told Santa he wanted a Stone Cold action figure for Christmas, and Santa replied "What's that?" Maybe he has been in that workshop with those elves just a bit too long. VILE'S TOTALLY ANAL TRIVIA: Congratulations to Ranmasolo who correctly identified the 4 names of Holly. Thurman "Sparky" Plugg, Bob "Spark Plug" Holly, "Bombastic Bob" of the lame WWF Midnight Express, and Hardcore Holly. This week's question: I'm going a little easy on you guys this week: We all know the myth of Goldberg, $oldberg, Goldchump, or whatever you might call him. When he first made his debut, he had a manager for a very brief period of time. Name this leader of the big bald guy.
