DUE WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8th - City. Students are to design and draw a city after a class discussion on the horrible conditions in Medieval cities. They can either create a modern city or an ancient city - 20 points
DUE MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13th - Students are to write at least one page giving me their point of view on the answer to the question "What is History?" - 15 points
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 14th - Chapter 4 Test - 100 points, consisting of the following:
People Identification - 18 points - the students will select 6 of the 8 people from the list, telling me who they were and what they
did in history
Vocabulary - 25 points - the students will select 5 of the 8 vocab words, giving me a definition, examples when applicable, and
telling me why this is important to history
Essay #1 - 25 points - Compare and contrast the Black Death to the Bird Flu. Describe every aspect about the Black Death in
your answer. What are the similarities/differences? What about the hype, spread and prevention of both?
Secondly, chose another epidemic in history. Briefly describe it and how it is similar or different to the
plague.
Essay #2 - 20 points - Select one of the following two essays

2 - period one hint - Franciscans, Dominicans

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17th - Students are to write at least a full page comparing the cities of Renaissance Italy to those of today. - 15 points
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22nd - Students are to design their own Catholic Church. Other than the things that have to be in every Catholic Church, the students have free range on what to put in their church and how it is to look - 20 points
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 28th - Students are to create a panel for our Sistine Chapel ceiling. They are to make either a famous scene, a famous person, a self portrait or draw an item that is famous to everyone. - 15 points
DUE MONDAY, DECEMBER 4th - Map on Renaissance and Reformation - 20 points
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 6th - Test on Chapter 5 consisting of the following: - 100 points

C. Essay #1 - 25 points - CAUSE AND EFFECT: List the causes and the effects of the Reformation. Describe each cause and
effect in great detail. Also, answer the following questions: Which areas in Europe were the
focus of the Reformation? Who were the main people involved?
D. Essay #2 - 20 points - Hints for each class period:

Period 6 - Venice, Florence and Milan

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15th - Quiz on Chapter 6 - 50 points
DUE THURSDAY, DECEMBER 21st - Chapter 6 summary - In lieu of a test on chapter 6, the students are required to write a review/summary/commentary on the chapter. It is to be at least a 2 page summary, with just their name and the chapter on the top of the first page. It is to be double spaced, one inch margins, 12pt Times New Roman font. In addition to the 2 page summary, the students are to write at least a half page commentary backed up by facts on who they think was the best explorer or exploring nation of the time period. - 70 points
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 21st - Mini-test on Chapter 7 -75 points
DUE FRIDAY, DECEMBER 22nd - A one-page, handwritten comparison between what the students are used to with the Roman Catholic tradition and what they saw was different with the Byzantine Catholic Rite - 20 points
THURSDAY, JANUARY 4th - Students are to write or type one page about what they think was one of the top stories of 2006. They are to summarize the event and provide their opinions on why it should be considered important - 20 points
DUE TUESDAY, JANUARY 9th - Students are to create their own haiku and make it look like a mini-poster on computer paper - 20 points

FRIDAY, JANUARY 12th - Citizenship grade for the quarter - 50 points
