
Due Thursday, March 22nd - Civil War Poster/Letter - students are to create a recruitment poster for one side or the other of the Civil War - on the back
of the poster, the students are to pretend they live in a border state and write a letter to a relative explaining why they are
choosing one side of the war or the other - 25 points
Due Wednesday, March 28th - Perfect Leader/ Emancipation Proclamation - Students are to write one page describing the qualities of a perfect
leader. They are also to write a one page commentary/explanation of the Emancipation Proclamation - 30 points
Assigned Monday, March 26th - This Year in History Internet Project - each student will be assigned a different year in the 20th century and are required
to research events that happened in that year in American History, including politics, culture and sports. The project
requirements will be available later in the week - 100 points

Due Thursday, April 12th - Reading Comprehension Packet on the Battle of Gettysburg - 25 points
Due Friday, April 13th - Civil War Map - 30 points
Due Wednesday, April 18th - Movie Review of "Gods and Generals" - 15 points
Due Thursday, April 19th - Commemorative Speech - 30 points - Students are to write a commemorative speech in the style of the Gettysburg Address
memorializing someone living or dead, famous or personal, explaining why they are memorializing them and what that
person did in their life - students will have an opportunity to read their speech to the class as an extra grade for some
extra points
Due Friday, April 20th - A "What I Learned" summary from the Gettysburg Trip - 25 points
Monday, April 23rd - Optional Reading of Gettysburg Speech - 15 points

Due Friday, May 4th - 1 full page on #8 on page 402 and 1/2 page on your plan for Reconstruction - 25 points

Due Wednesday, May 16th - Advertising poster - Students are to make a poster advertising an everyday object but make it sound great - 15 points
Due Thursday, May 17th - Family History - This is a two part assignment. Part 1: Students are to make a direct line family tree (excluding aunts, uncles,
cousins, etc.) as far back as they can go. When they get as far back as possible, they are to label where each part of
their family came from. Part 2: On the back, the students are to pick one of those ancestries and do a little research by
asking relatives or doing searches in books or the internet on why their family left home, why they came here, when they
came here, etc. - 40 points

Friday, May 18th - Students are to turn in their people of the day list for points - 40 points
Monday, May 21st - Test on Industrialization - 100 points
Monday, May 21st - Final Review packets are due for anyone who is exempt or anyone who wants extra credit for the final exam. If you are exempt and
do not turn the packet in by this date, you will be taking the final.
Wednesday, May 23rd - Citizenship - 50 points
