
DUE THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd - Each pair of students will be assigned a different Pennsylvania political candidate and certain issues that must find their candidate's opinions on. A handout was given with all of the information. - 50 points
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3rd - Quiz on the French and Indian War, the elections and historical preservation - 40 points
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 6th - Debate. Each pair must debate their candidate's point of views on a variety of issues. Students must participate and must show a knowledge of the subjects. Point total will be assigned at a later point. - 30 points
DUE WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8th - Students are to create a poster protesting the British Acts against the colonists, Parliament or King George III. They are to pretend that they are a colonist themselves and are angry with what has been happening leading up to the Revolutionary War - 15 points
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8th - Students are to write a one page diary entry about being present during the Boston Tea Party - 15 points
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17th - Quiz on the middle of the war, the preamble to the Declaration of Independence and interstate highways - 40 points
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 21st - Chapter 4 Test, consisting of the following: - 100 points
A. Vocabulary - students will define, explain and provide examples for 5 of the 8 words - 25 points
B. People ID - students will say who the person was and what they did, 5 of the 8 people - 15 points
C. Essay #1 - Discuss the planning and execution of the war strategy of both the British and Americans. How were they
similar/different? What worked? What failed? If you were to pick a winner before the war started, who
would it be and why? Also, in your opinion, how were the Americans able to succeed? - 25 points
D. Essay #2 - Period 2 Hint - William Howe - 20 points

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22nd - Students are to make a flag of a country they have created. Everything in the flag is to mean something - colors, shapes, designs, etc. They are to write the meaning of the things on the flag on the back side of the paper - 15 points
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1st - Wal-Mart assignment - students are to make a comparison list of the prices of ten items they find at Wal-Mart and the same ten items at a different store. They are then to write at least a half page summary about the data that they collected. - 25 points
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 5th - Mini Test on Chapter 5, consisting of the following: -70 points
A. Identification - students will define, identify, provide examples and historical relevance for 6 of the 10 vocabulary words,
people, documents and events - 24 points
B. Essay - Define and explain the Virginia and New Jersey Plans. What were the characteristics of each? Who wrote both
plans and what were their intentions? Who supported each plan and why did they support it? If you were at the
Constitutional Convention, which plan would you have supported and why? Provide ample details to support
your claim on each part of the answer. - 25 points
C. Preamble - students will write the Preamble to the Constitution - 15 points

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 23rd - Students are to turn in their groups portion of the class bill assignment. Each student was given a different job to do and are responsible for either creation, promotion or passage of the bill. Their work plus their summary will be handed in for a grade - 20 points for the group part, 20 points for the individual part
FRIDAY, JANUARY 5th - Students are to write or type one full page describing in their opinions one of the top stories of 2006 - 20 points
MONDAY, JANUARY 8th - Map - 20 points
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 10th - Students are to write a story pretending to be one of the first people to explore the newly acquired Louisiana Purchase. They are to write it as if they had just returned from the journey and are relating the story to someone, or they can do it as a journal entry. It is to be at least 2 pages long and no longer than 8 pages, typed, double spaced, with just their name and a title on the top of the first page - 30 points
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 10th - Quiz on Sections 1 and 2 of Chapter 6 and a current events essay quiz on the Saddam Hussein execution and the war in Iraq - 50 points
FRIDAY, JANUARY 12th - Citizenship grade for the quarter - 50 points
