20th CENTURY AMERICAN CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES – M.A. History – Fall 2006
Objective: You are to write at least a five page paper on one of the topics found on this paper, with a goal of learning something you are interested in and formulating an opinion based on the research that you do. Your thesis sentence should state what your topic is and the position that you intend on defending. Each of the topics listed has several points of view and can be argued any number of ways. It is your choice, your opinion, your thoughts about your topic.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. 5 page minimum, typed, double spaced, 12 pt. font, Times New Roman, 1 inch margins
2. Title page with a distinct, unique title – title and your name are to be centered on the page – this does not count towards your four page requirement
3. MLA format, parenthetical documentation
4. You must use at least 4 sources of the following variety:
You must use #’s 2 and 3 on the pathfinder
ONLY one encyclopedia
EBSCO or any other approved database
You must use at least one other print source
Any other website needs the librarians or my approval before being used
5. A full bibliography or works cited page must be included and DOES NOT count towards your four page minimum
6. This instruction page needs to be stapled to the back of your paper when you turn it in to me
