DUE THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd - Students are to rank the top 30 things that the class came up with that define their lifetime.  They are to then write

                                                                    at least one page summarizing their reasoning - 20 points

 

DUE TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7th - Students are to have compiled three very different thesis sentences for their research projects.  They are to take three

                                                                    different points of view and decide which is the best course of action - 15 points

 

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8th - Students are to write at least a one page comparison of the situation in Korea now to the situation in the Korean

                                                                    Conflict that we have discussed in class. - 15 points

 

DUE MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13th - Students are to answer questions number 7 and 8 on page 479 about nuclear proliferation, and number 5 in

                                                                    the Critical Thinking Section at the end of the chapter writing at least a half a page on each answer - 20 points

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17th - Test on Chapter 14 - the Cold War - 100 points

DUE TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 21st - Students are to show the progress they have made in the research on their reports - 20 points

DUE FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1st - Protest Essay.  The students are to answer the following question in at least one full page - "When does protesting go

                                                                    too far?" - 15 points

DUE TUESDAY, DECEMBER 5th - Students are to collect two articles about the Iraq War - one positive and one negative.  They are to summarize both and point out the similarities and differences and compare them to the situation with the media and the Vietnam War. - 20 points

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 14th - Test on the Vietnam War - 100 points

DUE FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15th - 20th Century Controversial Issues Research Paper - 100 points

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19th - review of an important issue of the 20th Century - post-Vietnam - 15 points

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 21st - Quiz on Watergate, Iran-Contra, "Star Wars", Iran Hostage Crisis, Fall of Soviet Union, Persian Gulf War - 50 points

FRIDAY, JANUARY 5th - Students are to write or type one full page describing one of the top stories of 2006 and explain why they feel that story merits

                                                being important - 20 points

 

MONDAY, JANUARY 8th - Using the United Nations guidelines on terrorism given in class, the students are to find an article in the newspaper, a magazine  or on a  reliable online source, read it, review it and decide whether it is considered terrorism or not and provide their opinion. - 20 points

 

TUESDAY, JANUARY 9th - open notebook quiz on terrorism - 60 points

 

FRIDAY, JANUARY 12th - Citizenship for the quarter - 50 points

 

 

THURSDAY, JANUARY 11th - Final exam - the students will be given 40 terms, people, etc. and will have to identify and describe 30 of them - 120 pts.
