
DUE WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th - STOCK MARKET ASSIGNMENT
This assignment will be done in random groups of 3.
You will be given $1000 fictional dollars in which to invest in the stock market.
You are to look at the stock report in the newspaper or on the internet and pick five stocks which you would like to buy. Then, spreading the thousand dollars out evenly, buy as many shares as you can of each. You can buy more shares of one and only a few of others. It is completely up to you. You will have several requirements to complete this project.
1. Today you will be given time to select your stocks.
2. You will also make a chart to track the stocks. (The poster board will be provided)
- this chart will remain in the classroom and you will fill in the information each
day before class.
3. You will observe your selected stocks Thursday (8/31) thru Thursday (9/7)
4. Together with your partners, you will write a one page summary of how your stocks performed.
5. You will each be required to write a one page summary about your thoughts on the activity and what you learned from it.

DUE WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th - Quiz on chapter 10 - 50 points
DUE THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14th - Students are to pick out of a list and make food from the depression era - 15 points
DUE THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14th - Movie Review, including specific examples and thoughts on "Flight 93" - 10 points
DUE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th - Essay on 9-11. Students are to write a one page, single spaced, twelve point font, one inch margin essay on the topic "What 9-11 Means to Me." The essay is to be set up as follows: Title "What 9-11 Means to Me" centered at the top of the page followed by the essay. Do not go over or under one page! Put your name on the back because after they are graded, other faculty members will be judging them for a contest plus a few will be published in the new school newspaper. - 25 points
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th - Midterm Grades - 200 points
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th - Test on Chapter 11 - 100 points
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29th - Letters to Politicians. Students are to write a letter to a politician addressing an issue that they care about - 20 points
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13th - Interviews. Students are to interview someone who was born no later than the mid-1930s and ask them about living through the Depression and World War II. The interview portion of the assignment is to be 3 pages long and a 1 page reflection on what they learned from the assignment and how they felt about doing it - 50 points
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10th - Maps. Students are to complete and turn in the maps concerning World War II - 30 points
MONDAY, OCTOBER 16th - Historical Hindsight - Students are to type at least one page, 12 pt. font, single spaced, 1 inch margin paper about how our current times will be remembered 50 years from now - 25 points
