Chapter One
I'd only recently found out about Kaie, who had long ago known about me— I’d been angry with him for not telling me, but now that I think about it, I realize that even then, when I was hot headed, I couldn't have blamed him. What would he have asked, are you a Dreamer? And even if he had, I might have said yes and given him a false positive.
We'd met in the Fairy Queen's court, where I'd been taken captive and he'd been welcomed as an honored guest. He'd seen me and demanded my release, along with Gwyn's freedom.
As usual, Kaie was already awake—Kaie was always awake in Dreamworld before Gwyn or me. I guess he doesn't have much of a life in the waking world, even though he's the most popular guy in school.
He was staring at the flowers by the road and staring with that "it’s gotta mean something ‘cause the Ancients put it here" look of his— that same look that makes Gwyn do one of those "he’s so fine" shivers.
On a guy-looks scale of one to ten, I’m probably a seven, but Kaie’s a seventeen— tall, broad-shouldered, blonde, with a pair of green eyes that do major mojo.
Lucky for us, Callan hadn’t woken up yet— Callan’s a leprechaun who wasn’t out to kill us (he had this weird thing about protecting Kaie) but lived up to his name, as he did a lot of screaming. It drove me friggin’ crazy, I tell you.
Unlucky for us, Gwyn hadn’t either. But we thought she’d probably wake up and join us in Dreamworld in a minute, and if Kaie got really bored, he’d make up the bedrolls and roll her off something.
"How much did I miss?" Gwyn asked suddenly.
I was glad to see she’d woken up. "Not much. Just Callan’s Big Snore."
She sighed heavily. "I always miss that, don’t I?"
"Yep."

That’s it for now, folks. I’ll do more…
