A Fateful Decision

**Setting/Scene**

Usagi just finished beating Galaxia, and it was only in a matter of 2 days that the Starlights were going back to their planet. They found what they were looking for, Princess Kakyuu-hime, heir to the throne of the planet Kinkomu. And they choose to fight on Sailormoon’s side. Before and a little after the found out about each other's identities, they were acting like rivals even though they were fighting the same enemy.
**

Mamoru was back and Usagi was happier than ever! Only, Seiya started to act sad all the time and try to avoid Usagi. Usagi didn't know it, but she was breaking his heart. He knew to expect this, to see her laugh with him. To see her run into his arms every time they meet. To kiss him, under a Sakura tree. Or take her into his embrace on a rainy day. It was pure torture, and he would have rather chose to be put in a concentration camp and starve.

"Seiya!" Usagi yelled. "Wait!" Seiya stopped walking and looked back only to find the angel in disguise. "Hi, Odango." he said meekly. And turned around and started walking again. He had hoped she would just stay at her place and let him pour his emotions out. If she had seen him, he would have been obligated to tell her. She would tell him "no" and explain to him about her past and future. That would have made him more hurt.

"Seiya, what's wrong?" Usagi asked following him. "Nothing." Seiya answered strait out. "C'mon Seiya, you can tell me. We're friends, right?!" Major dis!!! Seiya gagged and breathed heavily cause his heart almost gave out for a second. *Just friends? * He would always ask himself. That's the other thing. He needs to tell Usagi how he feels. At the last minute, tomorrow. Tell her, kiss her, and run. First of all, of course tell her! What else? Kiss her because he has never been kissed before and he wants to do it with the person he loves most, and the person who he's never going to see again. After tomorrow. And run, to avoid the slap or the punch he will no doubly receive.

"You Ok, Seiya?" Seiya came out of his thoughts and into reality. "Yeah, fine." Usagi got fed up and stopped. She slid her hand on Seiya's arm and turned him around. "Seiya, what is wrong?!" she asked angrily. Seiya didn't know why she was using that tone with him. He was suddenly scared in his life. "Nothing is wrong, Odango. Why do you worry?" "Because when someone I love is troubled, I would like to know. I could probably help you out!" She was talking about the love best friends share. And this problem, she couldn't help out with. Cause she was sort of the cause. He stared down at his feet and mumbled. "You wouldn't understand..." Usagi quit it with her angry emotion and started to feel sympathy. "Seiya, is it about your princess?" "A princess." Seiya answered giving Usagi a little of a hint. But he knew she wouldn't catch his drift so it was Ok.

Usagi deeply inside wanted to help Seiya. Even if it was risky, she didn't like the state of depression Seiya was showing. She wasn't completely clueless of Seiya's problem. *A princess...* Usagi repeated in her head. She looked back on her conversation with Seiya from earlier in the evening. "God Seiya, why can't you tell me? I thought we trusted each other." She grabbed her pillow and started sobbing into it. "I wouldn't be able to go on if I don't know what you problem is. And you're going to be gone tomorrow." Usagi took her head out of her pillow and wiped her tears away. She started to look back when she was on her date with Mamoru, after she had talked to Seiya.

"Usako, are you listening?" Mamoru asked. They were at the park where Usagi met up with Seiya for their first date. Sitting on the same bench where she waited for him. She finally felt a tap by her destined lover and answered back. "Oh I'm sorry Mamo-Chan. Did you say something?" Mamoru's anger started to construct inside of him. Ever since he came back alive, Usagi has been acting strange and never really down to earth while he tried to make conversation. He masked his emotion it with a fake smile. "Usako, what are you thinking?" Usagi looked at the ground. "Seiya's sad. And it kills me to see him like that. He's going away tomorrow, but he won't tell me what's wrong." she said sadly. "My god Usagi, get over it!" Mamoru yelled. He stood up, looking at Usagi strait in the eyes. "Why can't you just leave him alone? You're obviously not getting anywhere!" Usagi was appalled by his outburst, but decided to take action. She stood up. "Mamoru! I have a right to worry about my friends. And Seiya's one of them! Do you think it's easy for me to forget it? He's a dear friend and I don't like for him to leave unsatisfied!"

Usagi stopped thinking and looked at a picture of her and Seiya when they had their first game of softball. "He seemed so happy before Mamoru came back in the picture. And when we were about to battle Galaxia..." She stared at the sacred paper in her hands. Usagi gasped as her conscience told her a suggestion. "He didn't feel...I'm sure it is, but...it can't be true..." Usagi's mind started to play tricks on her and started to throw bits and pieces of hints that Seiya loved her. *Am I not good enough?....... A princess.....You wouldn't understand...* Tears started to form into Usagi's eyes. "Why won't you tell me Seiya? I love you too much to see you this way." Usagi realized what she had said and covered her mouth with her hand. "Oh my gosh. He does love me..." she then stared at her picture. She smiled as she saw Seiya's happy face next to her thrilled face. "Do I love him?"

Usagi was transformed and ran down a dark hallway. She could hear the screams of a friend in despair. "Don't worry, I'm coming!" she would yell. But the more she ran, the darker the hallway became. She then stopped till she saw a familiar figure standing, showing his left profile to Usagi. It was Seiya! "Seiya!" Usagi screamed. Seiya didn't turn towards her, but got lifted in the air. A sword, that seemed to float was shooting towards Seiya's back.

"Seiya, NO!!!" he fell to the ground, and Usagi cradled him. "Seiya! Please don't die! Don't die on me, please!" she had her arms encircled around Seiya's shoulders and pulled his body close to hers. "Seiya, hang in there..." she whispered. Usagi didn't seem to notice that there wasn't any blood coming from his back or stomach. She was too shocked and scared. Usagi grabbed Seiya's right hand and kissed his palm. She gently pressed it against her cheek, trying to feel his warmth. She could feel it, but let the tears flow freely onto Seiya's hand.

Seiya was conscious. He could feel the sadness Usagi was giving off toward him. He opened his eyes to see if it was for real. There, he witnessed what he hated. Usagi was crying her eyes out as she held on tightly to Seiya's hand that was on her cheek. He now hated himself for worrying her and making her cry. Seiya moved his thumb, on the hand Usagi held, over Usagi's soft lips while saying, "Odango..."

Usagi looked at Seiya with a startled face. "Seiya! I'm so glad you're alive!" Usagi hugged Seiya tightly. Seiya enjoyed the hug of course, but was in full pain. He let out a faint groan and took his hand of Usagi's face. "Oh! Your wound!" Usagi unbuttoned Seiya's shirt to heal his wound. But Seiya's chest and stomach were clean. "No Odango..." Usagi looked at Seiya. "Here's my wound." A glow started to come from Seiya's chest. He put his hand under a light that floated above him, and then his heart crystal appeared. (Just think of the pure heart crystals from the S season). "Your pure heart." Usagi said. It then started to crack. Usagi gasped and looked at Seiya, who was becoming pretty pale. "My heart..." he started to say. "You broke my heart..." then his heart crystal shattered and Seiya's body became limp and dead. "NNNNOOOO!!!!!!"

"No!" Usagi sat up in her bed sweating, crying, and hyperventilating. "What, was that dream...? I..." she looked at her hand. "It felt so real. Like it was trying to tell me something." she then tried to remember her dream. *My heart...you broke my heart...* Usagi started to get a bad feeling. "Oh my god. I'm breaking his heart. That's what’s wrong with him." she started to cry in her hands. "I'm a horrible person. How can I not see it." her sobs and whines awakened a black feline with a crescent moon on her forehead. "Usagi, are you alright?" Usagi shook her head while still having her face buried in her hands. "Luna, I've hurt Seiya. And I didn't realize it till now." Luna stood up and walked on Usagi's lap. "How long have you've been hurting him?" "A long time! He's been trying to tell me he loves me, but I just keep pushing him away. And now I broke his heart." Luna looked at Usagi with concerned eyes. "Do you love him? The way he loves you." Usagi took her hands away from her face and looked at Luna. "Luna, why kind of question is that?" "Do you love him, Usagi?" Luna's voice turned into a firm and impatient tone. Usagi knew she couldn't get out of this one. She started thinking of all the times they had together, their date, and their talk under the stars after softball practice. When they found out about each other's identities on the plane. When Seiya would go out of his way to make Usagi happy. And their kiss they shared. He did more than a person could ask for. And here she is, thinking he still loves her as a friend. "Yes. Yes I do."

Usagi slouched down in her seat in guilt as she watched the stares of her friends beam down on her. She had just told them the dream and her feelings for Seiya. "Usagi, do you still love Mamoru?" Rei asked. "Yes, but...if I go with him, I'll never get over Seiya." "But what if you don't?" Makoto chimed in. "Then I'll blame myself cause I'm afraid mother would get mad, and you guys would be upset too." the inner senshi pitied on their leader. This was the worst battle in life. "Usagi, what are you going to do?" Ami asked. Usagi shrugged. "I don't know."

Seiya walked in the Crown and stood in front of the table the inners were seated at. "Odango, can I talk to you?" Usagi looked at him and nodded. They both walked to the park. Without saying a word the whole way, Seiya was thinking about his plan on telling Usagi. Yaten nicknamed it "The Confession Smooch Getaway". "Odango, I want to tell you that..." Seiya couldn't finish his sentence. He looked into Usagi's big light blue eyes. He could see they were full of anticipation and wonder. "I love you. Not in a friendly way but, the real kind. I tried to steal you away, to have you myself, but I see now that's impossible. And it hurts me so much to hear you talk about Mamoru, much less see you with him. I hate to be the bad guy and I don't want to tear you away from your destined lover. But, if it's possible..." he stepped closer to Usagi.

Usagi stood there speechless and shocked. She didn't move an inch away, as Seiya moved an inch closer. He grabbed her hands and held them tightly. Pouring his heart out over Usagi and confessing. "That I could steal a kiss from you." Usagi wanted to tell him her feelings, but all that came out was, "Seiya..." she was paralyzed at the moment she would probably never forget.

He brought his face up to hers and touched her lips gently with his. Usagi still had her eyes open. She was scared. What else could she do? She wanted to return the kiss so much, but that would be betraying Mamoru. Future husband to Neo-Queen Serenity. Future King of Crystal Tokyo. Father of Chibi-Usa, second heir of the Moon. Could he be more?

He knew it was coming. Seiya could feel the adrenaline rush in Usagi's body to beat him up now. He expected her not to return the kiss so he tried to make it short and sweet. Seiya's lips departed from Usagi's and he stepped away, letting go of Usagi's hands. "I'll love you no matter what Odango." He said his final words to Usagi and starting running.

Usagi stood there as the wind blew her soft, silky hair. "Seiya." she placed her fingers on her lips as she watched Seiya run into the city. "Do you mean it?" she whispered to herself.

"Usagi!" Usagi turned around, only to find Minako running towards her. "Usagi, are you Ok?" "Minako, you know how I've told you how I love Seiya and Mamoru?" Minako nodded. "The problem is, which one do I love more?" Minako smiled and put her arm around Usagi. "Do what your heart tells you. Do you want to create your own destiny with Seiya, or would you like to live you life planned out with Mamoru? Whoever you choose will be fine with us. We'll stick to you no matter who you choose, cause you're our best friend." Usagi looked at Minako and smiled. "Now go! Get him now! Before he gets away." Minako winked at Usagi and gave her a push in the direction Seiya ran.

The 3 Starlights stood on top of the Juuban High School rooftop and took 1 last gaze at the planet called Earth. "Can't wait to get home." Yaten said. "Yes, we'll make Kinkomu better than it was before." Taiki finished. They both waited for Seiya to say something, but he just stared at the scenery. "Seiya? Hello...Seiya?" Yaten waved his hand in front of his face. "Oh! Uh, yeah. Can't wait to get home.” he said unenthusiastically. "It's time." Princess Kakyuu said from behind.

Usagi ran with all her power. She didn't know where Seiya went, but her heart knew, and her feet were taking her there. She ended up in front of her high school. "Seiya, I hope you waited." Usagi pulled the door opened and started running up the stairs. *I hope I make it* "Please be there." She came down to her last flight of stairs and pushed the door open. Usagi looked all around the rooftop to find it totally deserted. "Oh no. I'm too late." Usagi fell to her knees and started bawling. "Seiya, no..." she wailed. Her knees then gave out and Usagi ended up curled in a ball. "It's my fault. Why did I ever let you go?" Usagi wept and mourned over the loss of her 1 true love.

"Odango..." came a voice from the shadows. Usagi looked up and turned over. "Seiya? Seiya, is that you?" Seiya stepped forward to where Usagi could see him clearly. "Seiya!" Usagi got up and ran to Seiya. She was about 4 feet away from him, when she just jumped into his arms. "Odango, shouldn't you be with your love?" Seiya asked, faking to be hurt. "I already am with my love." Usagi answered. She had her arms around his neck. "I was being cruel to you Seiya, and I'm sorry. I should have recognized you feelings earlier. But I was so wrapped up in destiny, that I didn't realize how much I was hurting you." Seiya held onto Usagi's waist, tight. He started to cry, as his heart started to become 1 again. "Odango, I love you." "I love you too, Seiya." Seiya pulled back from their embrace and looked at Usagi in the eye. He was going to say something romantic, but thought a kiss was good enough. He pulled her closer to him, and gently kissed Usagi. And the difference was that, Usagi returned the kiss and to her love, finally!
