America is not perfect and our government may very well be after some oil rights. Which by the way I would feel we deserve if not for the fact that I am opposed to continued fossil fuel addiction. In anycase, the Iraqi people are in the streets protesting our "occupation". They are PROTESTING! I find this proof positive that we are doing the right thing. Have they been able to protest anything for the last twenty years? They need to get everything out that has been trapped under oppressive rule and I understand that. No harm done. If anything it is wonderful beyond measure. I know that even if the oil tycoons took over the entire country, eventually they would need an educated workforce to run the refineries and industries. One thing I do know is that an educated people are a free people. The world is moving on and it will either be in a good way or a bad way. I believe that humanity will, through many difficulties, eventually end up doing the right thing for the species. The universe is without a doubt yin and yang. There is no way to separate anything from that. Also, does anyone really think that our petty bickering over this piece of rock we call Earth is of any consequence to the universe in general? If one nation were to force the rest of the world to fall under one massive government we would all be well on our way to getting our species off this rock and safe from accidental annihilation by ourselves or some random cosmic event. And I as an American would very much like it to be a western style government since it is what I know and how I grew up. As is true for every human on earth old enough to make that choice. Which is why millions of humans have died for one cause or other. There is no such thing as a culture that lasts forever. As Abraham Lincoln said "And this too shall pass." We are all everyone of us and our ancestors, for an untold number of years to come, lost in the sea of time. Our only hope is cooperation and to attempt to leave the womb in the name of survival. We will make many mistakes on the way. We may even fail completely and fade into the vast nothing that is everything else but what we know. But we must try for the sake of our childrens children, and every human being that will never be if we fail.
